    This is so refreshing to watch. I’ve subscribed! You are speaking my heart. I have had all these thoughts. I’ve been at this pretty consistently for almost a year now. One by one, little by little I gain a sub. It’s been a slow go yet something inside me says, keep going. Well, me in every single video ends with “keep going” if I stopped I wouldn’t be taking my own advice. I look back at so many of my videos and think they are horrible, yet I keep going. I would like to think we both improve with each piece of art, with every new video we put out. Let’s keep going, let’s see what happens. Also I’m sorry about the loss of your dog, the tattoo is gorgeous. Glad you came up on my home page❤

    I have a couple different channels and Twitch and all the social media that comes along with all of them. It’s really hard because you as a creator can be consistent but engagement never is and never will be. I make videos for what I like and sometimes things really pick up then complete nothing. It’s so hard especially with a family and full time job. One thing to remember though is that the channel is yours to do what you want with. I haven’t uploaded to this channel forever and have started again and I have gained two subs already 😊

    Hey, first time watching your video. Thanks for your tips. It is important indeed to find a balance in your commitment with TH-cam and your life; work on content creation at the amount of time that you can do and just stick to it. There are so many TH-cam advices out there but the truth is, nobody is 100% sure about how to succeed. I'd like to believe that we are all 1 video away from blowing up and then we'll become the new norm/trend. We've got this! ❤

    This video was also recomended to me and it had an interesting title and thumbnail, so I watched it. I was surprised that this video had so many more views then the rest of your video's so I started to compare them and what strikes me is that this video is about the only one where you sit directly in front of the microphone and the audio quality is so much better. I even had the impression with some of the other video's that you used the build in microphone of the camera instead of the big microphone. So, I would recommend that you sit right in front of the microphone and use it properly. A tip that I can give you is to watch the video of Ali Abdal about "no one cares". He explains that we, the audience, want value for our time that we invest in watching your video. In the beginning of your video you showed a tattoo of your dog. It might sound brutally honest, but I don't know you, I don't know your dog, so why would I care about the tattoo of your dog if I don't have any context and I came for a video about "How to fail on TH-cam."? The story about overcommitment is much more relevant. Start your video with describing what the video will be about in a few words. Make me curious about something so I keep watching. Basically, use all the tips the big TH-camrs tell you and also add your own flavour to it. You already have the experience. You are not afraid for the camera anymore. You might show a bit more energy, but this can be the first video of many where you can show that you can get a lot of viewers. This video is not an accident or luck. You did it all by yourself and you deserve to grow. 👍

    Never heard of you before, but you came up in my recommended feed and I wanted to let you know you are *super* appreciated and I hope things improve for you. I tried posting videos a few years ago and got absolutely *no* traction. Your insight has helped me feel better, that I wasn't "just quitting because it's hard" like some have said. There's so much more to it than "all you gotta do is film, edit, and post! what's so challenging about that??" 🤦
    Thank you 💝

      @samnstellastudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for taking out time to comment. Honestly, I felt the same way back in 2019 when I first started and got almost no traction. This time round I was pushed more because of the circumstances I was in to create again. I had almost lost hope but did not give up this time. For reasons I won’t be able to explain I guess. But it is definitely much more than just shooting, editing and posting. When you fail to plan, you plan to fail is true for TH-cam in every sense of it. Keep swimming I tell myself often times. Even when we hate our jobs, we keep showing up everyday but it doesn’t happen for our own part time business I guess. Think about it.

    Some great lessons here, even for other creative endeavors! There's a real sense here of being kind to oneself, and that also means being realistic, which I really appreciate. On the matter of gear: these days, good enough production is possible on a budget of basically pocket lint. I'm trying to figure out instead what small choices I can make that pay dividends in production quality, and then figure out a good creative workflow with that; I have seen firsthand a lot of good creative time wasted on the acquisition of new toys, and then having to figure out how that new gear fits into a workflow.

    • @samnstellastudio
      @samnstellastudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for taking out time to comment and I love the phrase "budget of a pocket lint", makes me smile. For me it has always been a habit of getting the things first and do them later, which I have learnt to respect over a period of time instead of disregarding it as it does not help. Now, the psyche tell me I have the gear, what is stopping me? So basically feed the mind exact same story but in reverse. I am exploring these waters myself but sure enough when I have answers, a video might be out. :) Have a blessed day ahead!

I think some of the general youtube advice is not geared toward art youtubers - if we are making art that takes tiiiiiiiime in of itself. Then editing on top??? I'm sorry that you've not yet experienced the growth you were expecting. TH-cam is particularly harsh for a less established creator. I'm curious as to what your expectations for the platform were, though. You say that you're "failing", but what is your metric for that?

    • @samnstellastudio
      @samnstellastudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for commenting and that is surely a thought provoking one. I wanted to experience the magic of the algorithm, which I have never done before and by that I do not mean a million views because I know my videos or content is not that worthy. But enough like 500 views here and there over a period of a couple of days. However, now that I am thinking about it I know it was being unrealistic to begin with and I was more like testing myself than TH-cam. does that answer your question? Thank you once again for helping me introspect and ask these questions to myself. Have a blessed day ahead!

    • @jmc6383
      @jmc6383 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think there is such a thing as "worthy" or "unworthy" content. It's not good for you to moralize yourself that way, and it's not even accurate.
      Many art videos that go "viral" are staged, are the product of art theft, or give lackluster advice. On the other hand, many videos I have found most helpful for my craft were under 10,000 views. We have to remember that this system was never designed to be fair. Your skill as an artist is not measured by your following on social media.
      When TH-cam first took off, the videos weren't monetized. Content creators only started getting paid several years after the TH-cam boom. Even then, TH-cam paying creators for their videos was never about justice or a creator's inherent worth. It was, and it always will be, about TH-cam's bottom line. I say this because TH-cam has no clear pathway for a "small" channel to become a "big" channel. You might get lucky with the algorithm some days but you're just as likely to never catch a break at all. Trying to succeed in this industry is, quite literally, gambling.
      As you go forward, I encourage you to not get overly caught up in channel growth. If people find your channel, that's beautiful. I just hope that regardless of how many followers you have, you look at the videos you have made and feel proud of your channel.

    • @samnstellastudio

      Thank you so much once again for your thoughtful comments and I will surely keep it in mind. And you are right, TH-cam will not be able to decide my worth, I am totally accountable for it. My story is aweful. I have been posting daily for almost 16 months now. I had a video explode and got 4600 watch hours for almost 9 months, but I just could not get the subscribers. TH-cam algorhythm wanted me to be a guinea fowl only channel and I refused to be pushed into that box. Well, when you ho over the 365 day mark and your year starts to move up on a daily basis the struggling increases. I have lost 2600 watch hours from that video that exploded and still can't get the subscribers and now the algorhythm has me pegged as a failing channel. My videos do not get suggested to a wider audience anymore etc.
    If you want your drive and motivation broken, start TH-cam. It is robbing me of my sanity at this point in time.
    The frustration is that as a creator you are not really in control of anything. It is pot luck as far as I am concerned.

    • @samnstellastudio
      @samnstellastudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Sonet, thank you for your comment and patience with TH-cam. It takes a lot to post every single day, which is where my concern is. TH-cam is not aiming for quantity, they are looking for quality videos. Not saying that your videos lack quality or anything but if by posting the same kind of videos every time nothing is changing, then the input needs to change for the outcome to change. We cannot expect different results when we are doing the same things every time.
      You are very close to 1000 subs and it would be really sad if you leave just yet.
      It might feel that I am too new to suggest anything but I do believe that you are just one video away from your breakthrough and giving up now would be a shame. So please keep swimming and try to do something differently this time when you upload. Take care and stay blessed.
