Jason, you're single handedly one of the most underrated TH-cam metal head guitarists and demoers. You deserve more subscribers, it's almost a crime for anyone who's not subscribed to your channel. Much love and respect brother for your videos.
I really appreciate that!
Multi-Watt Triple has what it takes 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Yes, i think so, too! It took me from the first moment. I actually thought #1 would be the Rev F Triple with EL34. So much for my knowledge with Rectifiers, and i think i know them pretty okay as i had nearly every 2ch revision on the workbench...😂
#1 was my fav. Surprised it was the multi watt! They all sound killer though. Thanks for the vid and killer riffing my man!!
#4 was my favorite
Man, that Multi-Watt trip is incredible! Shocked me actually, did not expect it to be as mid forward as it is, cut through everything. Insanely close at least to my ears the Rev F trip. Sick video as always Jason.
wow I am suprised at the multi watt rec. They all sounded great!
Amazing shootout! They all sound devastating, but if I had to choose between them, for my taste it would be:
1. Multi-Watt
2. Rev F Dual
3. Rev F Triple EL34
4. Rev G
Recto demos never get old brother especially when you are rockin em. Appreciate ya.
I have to admit that the multi watt was my favorite with the rev f triple as second. Your playing and riffs were killer. Excellent video.
I like amp 3 🤘🤘
Frankhouser for president!
9:16 fully agree ... and ... Thermite spotted in the background 👍
Been waiting for this one!!
they all sounded great.
Gaddamn.... that right hand chug is brutal!! I prefer the multiwatt. Something about it's clarity. Killer man!
My favorite is #2 Rev F with EL34s.
All of them sound excellent tho!
Sick riffs indeed.
Gzuz, Jon Schaffer's spirit escaped jail and possessed this bro
Write sick riffs. ❤❤
They all sound killer! However Multi watt was definitely my favorite for the overall high gain clarity, defined articulation, midrange punch, and tight controlled low end! Great video Shred Flintstone! 🤘🤘🤘
I like the el34 loaded the best then the rev G. I’ve been using the rev g with a dirty tree boost. Awesome comparison!!
Great job Jason! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks, man!
I like 2,1,4,3 from most like to least but all were killer sounding in the end.
Sick riffing as usual my dude! 🤘🤘
Wow that is always fun🤘
Triple rec had extra shine!
shid man that was an amazing tones!🔥
Always amazed by the tightness of that right hand Jason, killer tones as usual. 2 and 4 for me on first listen.
im in love with my MULTIWATT !
2 was my favorite and was not shocked it was the Triple with EL34. I run my Tremoverb with EL34. Favorite recto sound
Jason, just came across your channel. It's fantastic to see you're still an amazing guitarist and engineer. I knew you from the Mars days and you taught me so much. I hope you are doing well. I'm going to explore your other videos and enjoy your playing once again.
Hey man! Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing great. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.
Damn, the multi watt surprised me! Killer job dude as always. Love your riffs! 👌
TRKT always has the best tones 🤘🏼
Multi-Watt for the win🤘🏻🤘🏻
amp 1 and amp 4 were my favorite.
The Rev G almost had a touch of that cocked wah midrange to it.
Absolutely killer video comparison! Still love the RevF tones, but the Multi-Watt are really cool amps.
Most badass sound on youtube hands down
Thanks man
I’ve seen a lot of videos and this is the first triple multiwatt that sound better than other revs.
The multi watts go hard, any way you spin it dude. Love the older stuff too but the multi watt series has a more modern upper mid grind I really happen to Dig!
Amp #1 for me! 100%
Amp1 was my favorite on all the clips, less mud than all 4 amps. I thought there where some weird volume and frequency fluctuations on the other 3 but might have been youtube compression. My second favorite was Amp4 and my least favorite was Amp3. The most dull sounding of all four amps. Surprising as Rev G has been mentioned as one of the good rectifiers. I'm glad that the one I liked more is the more readily available and can probably buy it new for less what people have been asking for Rev G and Rev F lately.
#1 !!!!
Great demo mate! 1 and 2 sounded great and very hard to tell apart for me
I liked Amp #1
I listened to this with my eyes closed. Tonewise, I heard almost no difference between the 4. However, the first one sounded the "cleanest" (ie, had best clarity) to my ears and I wasn't surprised that it turned out to be the Multi Watt, as I have a MW Dual Rec and it sounds way better (again - to my ears, at least) than my 2004 Triple Rec did. I think the next test should be to profile all of them in your Kemper and then do the same test to see how they compare. Great comparison, thanks for doing the video, and above all your playing is really fantastic. I love your channel, thanks! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I am partial to #2 but they all sound killer. As expected lol.
MW fan here. those amps KILL in a mix. The thickness and roar in them is unmatched. It's got the attitude of plexi that's been snacking on spoonfuls of peanut butter and chocolate...that's a Rec. All these dudes out here talking shit about Recs can go pound dirt. And If they ever make one the size of the Badlander 50 and put a build it-in cab-clone IR in it, my head will f'n explode
#2 stands out as being a bit darker sounding than the rest (I wonder if that's actually the tubes that do make the difference in this amps), I think #1, #3 and #4 sound very very similar and I liked #2 the least personally and #3 the most. Really cool shootout, thanks for the video.
Amp 1 sounded crisp and clear. It had the most defined sound.
the multiwatt triple rec sounded the best in the mix imo!!!
🤟🤟
2 - 1 - 4 - 3 … but we’re splitting hairs here. Great job mate. 👊
Thought I could spot the extra top end in the multi watt. The multi watt does a real good job at the F voicing on the red channel. It’s a great amp. My gripe with it is in the orange channel. Way more honky and nasally than the old rectos… and I use the orange more than red, personally. Great stuff as always, man!
You should try the 33 into your fridge!
I actually was surprised I could pick the G right away on the first clips. That slight loss of mids gave it away.
They all sound amazing, but if I had to rank them, for my taste it would be:
1. DUAL REV F
2. DUAL Rev G
3. TRIPLE REV F
4. MULTI WATT
Very interesting. First of all, they all sounded like a Badlander 100 without a boost and I love the BL100, so that's a big compliment. Just my opinion. 1, 2, and 4 sounded super similar and 3 seemed to miss that staccato cut and was a bit darker. I was not expecting 3 to be what it was after the reveal. Great vid.
I felt the same 😂 the first one was like badlander 100 all day
Interesting! I did a pretty thorough video on the Badlander as well and it definitewly does not have anywhere near the gain or low end that any of these amps do. That's not a critique its just what I found when I did my video. Badlander is a very cool amp no doubt about it.
@@killertoneI have both and BL100 and Multiwatt using an Ampete to go back and forth with the same cab. In iboth stock form without a boost. Huge difference between the two with the MW having more low end and lots of unusable gain past 2 o’clock (depending on pickup output). As you know the standard rectos require a boost to get that holy grail tone. Boosting my MW with my Fortin 33 which cuts a tone of low end its pretty much the same with the BL100 gain maxed out on the crush mode with no boost. I don’t use one with the BL, not needed IMO. I alway run the gain on 10. It has a very usable sweep of gain.
Since then, my MW was modded by John Tokarski who was a Boogie tech for 25yrs and knows the recto layout well. I did a 25 minute video on it given the origins and run through of the amp in my channel.
@@killertone btw, I watched your BL video when it came out. Fantastic video!
So after this I think I can get a MW to clench the thirst for a Rev F until I find the one.
It really surprised me!
When I listened to them, I instantly noticed a hollowness in the third amp. I owned a 2000 Rev C Dual channel, a 2003 Tripel and they sounded completely different, the 2000 Dual was phenomenal, and last but not least a 2019 Multiwatt last year that was incredible,m a favorite af all of my 3. Rev F is monstrous and surprisingly (not for me) very similar to the F. Awesome riffs Jason.
Rev F with EL34s was sooooooooooooo good! The multiwatt was a close second.
I spy some of Alain's creations in the background :D
Another great demo. I thought amp 2 was the worst, then 4 then 3 and 1 being the bettter sounding. at the end of the day I just cannot vibe with mesas. I want to like them and have purchased several and gave them a shot but not my thing. I’m still glad to hear the demo. For the mesa lovers this will be a good comparison!
Without the reveal my ears thought amp #4 was the most aggressive sounding, I had amp #3 as the Triple rec 2 channel as it seemed to have a bigger low end but wound up being the Rev G, Amp 1 I did guess was the MultiWatt - they all sound so killer IMO. Surprised how well that boost works - haven’t tried the 33 yet, may need to. I recently tried the Fortin Blade into the FX loop of my Wizard MCII as it’s pretty subtle in front of the amps I have. As always, great tones and playing!
Pretty amazed the MW sounded most forward, in your face, for some reason here the REV G sounded a bit weaker, and had some sort of a pumpy compression i didn't like. I have a MW on the way so i'm pretty happy and hope it will sound just as good
Woww!! Ok, I'm jealous of that Rev F triple!! It was my blind fav on here... I've got a rev F dual that I would never sell, but funny enough that was my least favorite of the 4 on this test, lol!!! That triple sounds amazing bro!
love to see what you do with a roadster.
I got 2 right only cause I own multi and revG
The multi watt triple sounds best to me, wow.
I was close got 1 and 2 the other way round. Multiwatt sounds the best to me close to 2 as they almost sounded identical. I listened to this via speakers not my phone lol. 3 and 4 didnt sound as in your face. Great video cheers
Yo! Mesas are great while they work, and the only maintenance is tube swaps. Just keep in mind the repair bill will be much higher than average if it ever needs component-level restoration (recap, etc). Cheers!
A bit late to the comparo. But I prefered the MW in all tests. The others sounded muffled by comparison. Thanks for the effort. Killer riffs.
number one is number one for me. more oomph
All sounded great but the #4 has something special
Rev F Dual. Such a killer amp!
For me it was the Rev F Triple, then the MultiWatt Triple, then the Rev F Dual then the Rev G Dual. Interesting that my ears preferred the Triples each time….
Interesting shootout. I have very little experience with DR's but suspected B was an older revision.
My favorite was Amp 2. I can see why it's going to the grave with you. For the riffs at the end, it was Amp 4. Guess I like Rev F the most.
I learned they're all badass. Get one you can afford and you'll be good to go.
This!
It’s a hard one because I love ‘em all but I like the way the Multi-watt cuts through and especially in a mix but the EL34 amp had something I liked on the single riff section kind of like extra teeth on the upper mids maybe? I’m sure my hearing is shot though and all those years of playing without ear protection definitely has me liking brighter sounding stuff these days. Always great playing and tones from you man! Did you catch the clip on shorts of the Ground Zero modded Triple Rec Rev G, guy jamming a Les Paul through it with no boost and it sounds insane!
#1 and #2 were the best, 3 or 4 were a little bit weak in comparision. gun to my head, i'd pick #2
1: bright, tight, sounds extremely exodus
2: darker, rounder.
3: scoopy boi
4: super scoopy boi.
i like 1 and 2. but they all sound like rectifiers. not worth paying significantly more for one over the other. alright, let's go for the reveal
EDIT:
interesting how i think that the multi watt and the el34 rev F sound quite similar to each other. imo those had the most clarity and sat in the mix best.
Now do the orange channel! 🤘😜
Gonna play along , me guessing not skipping ahead.
Amp 1 Maybe the dual recto idk which
Amp 2 the triple multi watt
Amp 3 one of the duals , idk which
Amp 4 the other triple recto, the 34’s one.
Slick riffage , man.
Edit* Holy fuck , got em all wrong.😂
As much as I've always wanted a blackout Triple Rectifier (with a Mesa 5 band EQ in the loop) and an OS 4x12, I'd much rather have a Fortin "Evil Pumpkin"!
They are pretty different things for sure but maaaaaaaaan you know I love the Pumpkin!!!!
@@killertone The E.P. is definitely still at the top of my "wish list"! One day...
Have you played a multiwatt dual also? Yeah my 3 channel triple wished it had that type of mid clarity back in the day.
Yes I have. Sounded really good as well.
Amp #4! Jason, you need to check out my “Ground Zero” Modded Rev G! It’s super nasty!
Dude! You have one? That would be rad to check it out.
Would be interesting to hear a Road King 2. Some guys say it can’t reach the metal tone of a Single Rectifier. Any opinions on the Road King 2 ?
Never cared much for the Road King/Roadster models as they have features I would never use.
Amp 1 won for me surprising. Im breaking mine out of the closet lol nice
Fucking hell! So good! Think I liked 1 the most, but they're so damn close.
Why the 33 pedal? I have a TS9, but I kinda want to get some others just for fun.
Amp 2 is the shit
Rev F Triple with EL34s!
1>2>4>3. Not what I expected, but it always changes with different riffs and songs. 3 was the only one that stood out to me as not really working.
the Rev G had that Klang that I associate with the Recto tone but otherwise there wasn't enough to get excited about beyond they were all killer amps
Goddamn the multi watt is the tightest, while rev g and f a bit looser.
I thought it was always the opposite because my reg g is a lot tighter than my guitarist 2001 rectifier so maybe with the 2010 multi watt was the same (looser).
I don’t even watch this channel because I care about the gear. I only watch to see how stupid good you are at guitar. 😂
In the mix, I could barely tell a difference between 1,2 and 4. I disliked 3 though. Out of mix, 1 and 2 still sounded super close, 4 sounded a bit worse and 3 still really didn't do it for me. Considering the memes about how bad Rev G are supposed to be, that makes a lot of sense.
Damn Rev G aren't bad at all haha. I haven't ever heard someone say that about Rev Gs. I actually think I had it dialed too different from the others. After a couple hours of dialing all of these my ears were shot by the time I did the G. It's actually a killer amp.
#4 my least favorite
only a boost Karen thinks that a Rectifier shouldn't be boosted 😁
Boost Karens live in Mesa Boogie groups by the dozens hahaha
@@killertone hmmm.. I must really be out of the community. I've never heard anyone say that a MB did NOT need a boost!
You got Mary Kay boosters adding makeup to their tone. And you got boost Karen who says you don't need that makeup to be beautiful.
In the end... it is a matter of personal style and taste. One works better for one. Vise versa. Can't we all just get along?
#noboostclub
For my ears
#1
#4
#2&3 both sounded crap.
