Hi, why don't they correct the problem that appeared in 2023 with trimming of solids? You can not trim multiple solids with a first one as in 2022 version, it s so time consuming
I'm not sure what the specific issue is - I don't think you've ever been able to trim multiple solids at once unless you group all the solid geometry into a single solid group and trim that way
@@Thesketchupessentials In 2022 version if you pick the first object and trim one by one the other objects, you don t have to enter trimming command for every trimmed object ( the first object remains active as the cutting one). In 2023 and 2024 after you trim one time it exits command, you have to enter trim command again, and so on. Let s say we have a main beam and 10 perpendicular secondary beams on the main one, intersecting it. Please try to trim the 10 beams in 2022 version and then in 2024, the time is at least double.

I bought the new Sketchup 2024 and it is very good! . BUT! - if someone had any plugins on earlier versions of SU, these plugins will usually no longer work in the new version of SU 2024 and you have to pay (if you have paid plugins) and install them again. I can't speak to the bug splats, though I would suspect this is all having to do with graphics card and drivers. I'd recommend switching it to the classic engine and seeing if that helps at all. The tape measure tool has always created guides though. Snaps in Layout is weird - Brightman did a video on that - seemed like an odd change
@@Thesketchupessentials You sound like an apologist. The web version features support for trackpad gestures, and they work very well. It's incredibly convenient to have this feature when being away from home or the workplace. Why they desktop Pro version shouldn't have it as well?
@@eugenn2848 I'm not sure why calling names is necessary. Every piece of instruction I've ever seen usually recommends using a 3 button mouse with a scroll wheel as it's significantly faster and easier to use. As such, trackpad features are probably lower priority to the dev team (I would assume). I can't speak to why it wouldn't be in the desktop version when it is in the free version. It looks like you've been active in the SketchUp forum saying this same thing, so maybe someone from the dev team will see your post?
Depends on the plugins you're using and if they're compatible, if the developer needs to update them so they work, etc. This is pretty normal across all 3D software, not limited to SketchUp. As to moving vertices, SketchUp isn't really built around modeling with vertices, but rather with faces. That was kind of the original "point" of SketchUp was to simplify modeling to the point that you drew a face, and extruded it. While it might preclude some more advanced modeling, it also makes SketchUp significantly easier for beginners to use as opposed to something like Blender.
@@Thesketchupessentials Totally disagree. Sketchup makes outside developers create tools for free, that break every update and require you to pay again to get them. Simple things like moving vertexes, you have to pay extra for. And pay every time sketchup updates. What other 3d software gives you a version that forces outside developers to make it useable? Pretty normal? Across ALL 3d software? LOL 20+ years ago, every 3d software was full featured, let you move vertices, etc... Sketchup - NOT EVEN FUCKING CLOSE
@@CStoph1979 You're conflating two different statements. Plugins/extensions break sometimes across pretty much all 3D software when new versions are rolled out. This happens with SketchUp new releases, Blender new releases, Rhino new releases. It's something that will ALWAYS happen on platforms that allow third party add-ons, because the main software update usually precedes those developers being able to update their extensions, so things break. As to the rest of your comments (vertex editing, etc) - like I said, SketchUp is designed to model in a different way. It might work for you, it might not. If it doesn't, you can use something else. That's the benefit of having other options, and I encourage everyone to find the 3D software that meets their needs. Good luck!
@@Thesketchupessentials You guys purposefully make your software crap so other people have to make it useful for you, for free! Then update every 2 years, cant even add a dark mode, and all the plugins break, and you have to hope there is a new version when many times there are not. Your software is so bad that you cant even give your users the ability to move vertices without paying extra every update. There is no other software out there that gives its users so little. 3d MAX, LIGHTWAVE, MAYA, every 3d software until you guys came out had basic functions you cant seem to add. Blender is feature filled. You are featureless. And blender is FREE! I never knew it was a feature to give your users less. I guess that comes from being created by google.
@@Thesketchupessentials Actually, its complete shit that your software has the ability to move vertices, yet you keep that feature out of your software, and force someone to write the code for you, then force your users to pay for it every two years when you release another version. But excuses are cool.
It's usually a good idea to keep the last year's version in addition to installing the new one while they work stuff like this out. Every update of every software introduces some bugs, and I'm sure re-writing the engine probably has more implications then a regular release.

Why... dual monitor INSIST on drop down menus showing on opposite monitor. Why.... Oh, and Osnaps work WORSE than previous versions of Layout. Why...
Great
I'm liking it :)
Por fin, luego de años esperando cambios relevantes en el software, lograron darnos avances importantes.
Bu program gereksiz kasıyor sahne dolunca PC iyi olmasına rağmen
SU 2023 is where us non paying leachers are going to stay. No map or location for non payed version of SU 2024.
Can't believe they haven't added the trackpad gestures yet. Such a disappointment!
Just as a general rule I think most people would recommend getting and using a mouse. Trackpad isn't really standard for ANY 3D software I've seen

Do all my plugins break again? They arent designed for 2024
I used software 30 years ago that let you move vertices, but not sketchup!
LOL
20+ years ago, every 3d software was full featured, let you move vertices, etc...
Full of bugs as usual
It's usually a good idea to keep the last year's version in addition to installing the new one while they work stuff like this out. Every update of every software introduces some bugs, and I'm sure re-writing the engine probably has more implications then a regular release.
I'm finding this too. I'll keep to the old one for a while until its fixed
Takes more ram when dealing with large projects too, especially when meeting the minimum requirement for ram (8 gb)
