As always, you should see your healthcare provider for a definitive diagnosis however this video may help you ask some educated questions. They discuss rotator cuff tears, subacromial impingement, osteoarthritis, dislocations and labral tears. They stick to musculoskeletal causes in this video but also be aware that shoulder pain can be caused by other medical issues such as diaphragm problems or even cardiac problems.

    Love you guys! I was just diagnosed with calcific tendonitis of my left shoulder and it has been BRUTAL. It came out of nowhere on just an ordinary weekend and by bedtime I could not move my arm or shoulder without excruciating pain. Then came trying to sleep. My ortho did an x ray and ultrasound and showed me the little white spot that is the cause of hell. I received a US guided steroid injection and it has calmed down, but it's light years from being normal. I'm a healthy and active 55yr old dude and would love a video talking about it if you have a chance and/or are in need of some content. Thanks for all your videos, you are very easy to watch and super informative.

    Thank you so much for your excellent videos. I had successful rotator cuff surgery ten years ago. At that time I was told there was some arthritis present. Because of a labrum tear in my right hip, I’ve had to lie on that same left shoulder for an extended period, and pain slowly set in. I’m back sleeping on the right shoulder, but the left one has continued to get more painful. Oddly, movements don’t hurt it and I have full mobility. It’s hard to ignore when I am sitting still, but walking around or using it relieves most of the pain. I’ve given it time, but now I have an appointment with my orthopedist. I am looking forward to PT or whatever needs to be done.

    I am currently getting ready for emergency surgery tomorrow for septic arthritis. The MRI showed I have a full thickness tear with 2 partial tears but it also showed inflammation beyond what would be considered normal.
    They took a sample of Synovial fluid checking for Gout and infection and my WBC came back 175,000.
    7 weeks after the pain started I am hoping we get a handle on this. Hopefully with strong antibiotics and more rest I beat this.

      Hi Muntasir. Glad you are enjoying our channel and videos. It is possible that holding your shoulder in an awkward position for a prolonged period of time could lead to shoulder pain. This would most likely be related to a muscle strain like your rotator cuff. Rotator cuff tendonitis can present without any trauma and often occurs in early middle age. Hope that helps. If the pain perists, get assessed by a health care professional. Thanks for watching.

    I recently had a accident and had a broken displaced clavicle. We tried a figure 8 brace for two weeks and unfortunately it only got displaced further. The surgery that was recommended was an open reduction and internal fixation operation. I have two plates and 8 screws holding my clavicle together. I have nerve damage from the surgery and my shoulder and clavicle give me pain constantly. 6 months since the surgery and not much has changed. Thanks for all the information you guys provide. Do you think you may possibly make a video in more detail and in depth about clavicle /shoulder surgeries and why certain equipment is used? Thanks again. ❤️

    How painful is a shoulder manipulation after the procedure?

  • @ryankay6716

    I had injured my shoulder in a MVA. Had labral tear and surgeon elected to not repair and did a bicep tenontomy. Why is that as he really didn't explain. The cramping in my bicep was wicked after. I had second opinion and he reattached bicep tendon and spontaneous cramping has been reduced, still there when I lift heavy. I'm 7 months post op from reattached.

    I was involved in a RTC uk term . I was doing 50mph and someone hit me from behind , since then I've had pain in shoulder going down towards the elbow. Can't lift arm above shoulder height, if I do the shoulder cracks etc , can feel lump in my bicep area in certain positions, this happened July 2019 , physio made pain worse .

    • @TalkingWithDocs
      @TalkingWithDocs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Keith. Similar to our prior comment, you need a physical examination and likely an xray and ultrasound to assess your rotator cuff to start. If that does not reveal anything you would require an MRI. Good luck. Thanks for watching, subscribing and sharing with someone if you did.

    My shoulder pain started a few months ago. Now I get a burning sensation on a spot in the middle of the upper arm right under the curve of the shoulder. Strange.
    P.S. Thank you for these videos.

      Hi Justme77. Without a proper physical examination and imaging it is hard to say for certain but you may be suffering from biceps tendonitis. The long head of your biceps tendon is a tendon along the front of your shoulder that is inside the shoulder joint and then passes down the front of your upper arm. Usually non operative treatment like physio and medication is the best start. It sometimes requires an injection of cortisone. Very rarely surgical intervention is required. Hope that helps. And thanks for watching!
