Thank you very much for these videos! When I got my exam books they were so daunting to read, it's so much more informative to listen from these classes. I got an email to say I passed my course with a fair 83%. Before I found these classes I had failed the first time with 64% only having the books and the pass rate being 70% so I thank you for taking the time to put these up for people who learn better by seeing and hearing the information in classroom environment :)

Thank you again for reading my comment . For five years I work as a nursing assistant and I did EKG and Phlebotomy as a Patient care technician. Now I'm doing nursing assistant in a nursing home and decided to upgrade myself into something meaningful and challenging like central sterile technician. I believe it was time to change and learn new skills. This is what I'm doing now. How do I show this at an interview and not get intimidate by the experience they looking for
That is absolutely perfect. Remember, you bring a world of direct patient care experience into the area where patient care is indirect yet vital. You are coming in with the Patient First mentality geared towards reducing hospital borne infections and reduce mortality. This is exactly what sterile processing is about! Tell them how much you love helping people, tell them how much you love technology and that surgery fascinates you. Explain to them how you took care of people with postoperative infections and how you want to play a role in preventing unnecessary pain and suffering through doing great work in sterile processing. :)

Just one small nitpick: a cell wall is a rigid structure surrounding a cell membrane. It is a characteristic of plants, fungi and some procaryotes (bacteria like cells). When you are talking about cell wall in the video you actually mean cell membrane.
Don't struggle. Take the difficulty out of your education. Replace it with enjoyment and stay focused on the financial benefits of national certification. Watch the videos and read the chapters in the book that go along with the topic of the videos. Read for fun and understanding of the language. Don't try to memorize the book.

Don't be nervous and read the questions carefully. if you see a question and you don't recognize it, close your eyes, take a few breaths, relax and come back to it. Don't spaz and stay clam. You will make it! You can mark the question and come back to it in the end :) It's not that difficult, a little confusing but not if you take the time to read the questions carefully.

I see this is a compilation of Central Sterile Processing instructional videos but I wanted to know the order for this particular instructor series. Just taking a guess, I would think that the next one to watch would be cpd and basics of cleaning but not positive. Trying to keep a notebook /study guide.Thanks!

A patient comes to the ER with a broken needle. This patient is a drug user, and he injected himself with (drug name) intravenously using a multi-user syringe. After 3 months, the patient was diagnosed with hepatitis C. The role of the syringe. a. Portal of entry b. Reservoir c. Mode of transmissio Is this question correct Steve? Do answer A and C have the same meaning or not?
@@Gi1999m portal of entry would be the puncture site so that's out, reservoir of infection is usually the sick person who shares disease, mode of transmission would be the injection. So I guess the best answer here would be (c) but there is a better option for syringe it is called a fomite.

What is the most current book to learn about sterile processing, and can you get certified without having to go through a school program or on-the-job training?
If you're planning to be certified with HSPA, then the most current version of the book is volume 9 CRCST manual. Not going through school is a possibility only if you are able to get a job in a department. On your own, you will not be able to secure an internship in a hospital department. You do need 400 hours of department training for permanent certification.

@@nyataylor7252 in general videos explain the book in plain English. Everything that makes it onto the board is essential and has to be written down and reviewed. Make sure you buy the work book together with the book.
Santajya Dickerson depends which certification agency you go with. Iahcsmm requires a 400 hour clinical internship to transition from provisional to permanent certification. Cbspd does not require such a clinical rotation.

What is the most current book to learn about sterile processing, and can you get certified without having to go through a school program or on-the-job training?
If you're planning to be certified with HSPA, then the most current version of the book is volume 9 CRCST manual. Not going through school is a possibility only if you are able to get a job in a department. On your own, you will not be able to secure an internship in a hospital department. You do need 400 hours of department training for permanent certification.

@@nyataylor7252 in general videos explain the book in plain English. Everything that makes it onto the board is essential and has to be written down and reviewed. Make sure you buy the work book together with the book.

Santajya Dickerson depends which certification agency you go with. Iahcsmm requires a 400 hour clinical internship to transition from provisional to permanent certification. Cbspd does not require such a clinical rotation.
