  • Pickup tool 1 and then pickup tool 8. The dust boot drop and pickup are show in more detail in an earlier video. Check out @RapidChangeATC for more info on the ATC holder. The slides are from exoslide.com and use 20x20 extruded aluminum. The tool holder is mounted on 2 20x20 rails that are attached to 3 exoslides. The 2 left slides have another exoslide on the bottom of the 20x20 so during a tool change the tool holder does not get picked up off the rails. The linear actuator was from ali express "Electrical Kingdom". It is 24V 100N 60mm/s 150mm stroke. I use 2 discrete outputs on my fluidnc controller to drive 2 double throw relays. The common is connected to the linear actuator and one pole is 24V and the other is ground. By turning 1 on and 1 off you get an actuation. To go the other direction switch which one is on and which is off. No motion and no harm is caused if both are on or both are off.

I may not be as impressed as the creator, but I'm really, really impressed.

Hi, this is very neat! I'd love to see some more detail on how your mechanism is constructed, I feel very tempted to incorporate this into my own machine. I know about the RapidChange, and that really is beginning to start me off on a tangent ;)
How does your dust shoe work, exactly?

If you look through my videos you can see 2 that show the dust boot being dropped and picked up.

@JLLCNC What software do you use to control your cnc?

I use Fluidnc RapidChangeATC does have adaptations for a lot of different controllers. The boot drop and slider control are done using g-code.
