First of all, individual stats are a part of the equation for consideration to be an all star, but it’s completely based on voting between fans, players, and coaches. Keep in my mind the all star game is an exhibition game meant solely to entertain the fans and help grow the game and business of basketball. The idea that we should only put in the top 24 scorers is patently absurd. A guy shooting below 40% on a bottom feeder team is not automatically an all star just because he’s averaging 25+ ppg…niggaz wanna dock a player for doing what’s best for the team in order to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS which Ginobili won what 3-4 times, you can’t have it both ways. Manu could have easily averaged 25 on a bad team because he was nice as fuck and had an unguardable signature move, the Euro step, which every scorer has in their bag now.
Manu is 1000% better than Gilbert, Manu is better all around, efificent scorer, clutch and defender. manu is been top 5 most efficient player in his prime, go look at it.
Ginóbili from 2005 -2011 was top 3 sg on the league in the gold era of SG , Ray Allen,Vince Carter, Tmac,Kobe,Wade,Jason Terry,AI( 2 all star, 2 ALL NBA and he was a sixth man!) the Game plans in the day was doble team or Focus on Ginóbili , WTF is Gil saying , he was the principal Game creador and shot maker in the clutch.
Gil’s takes are so wild. First all stars are not supposed to be the best 24 because you have to fill positions and also why are ppg the only thing he ever focuses on?
Some 6th men play starters minutes and close the game with the starting lineup like Harden in OKC. Sometimes it's a better fit when you have multiple ball handlers (pause). It's no different than coaches staggering minutes IMO.
Carrying the team when starters ( and mostly just one or two stars ) are resting is the definition of responsibility. Manu sacrificed his starting role and helped Spurs win another ring - RESPONSIBILITY TO THE TEAM. Love these guys are sometimes they just butt hurt
Some 6th men have more responsibility than some starters ... Not all starters close the game... Jason Terry is a great example and Manu... They were 6th men but they were in the closing unit and had tons of responsibility... Only Dirk had more offensive responsibility than JET... You could argue JET was either 3rd or 4th best on a title team and he was a 6th man that 4 year stretch he had killing it off the bench
I remember Monta was averaging 25 in GS just to get snubbed. When I saw Jeff Teague Korver and Andrew wiggins elected as all stars I was done with the all star game 😂😂
02:40 Talking about Trae as if he is one of the best is why the NBA is where it is now. Trae can't defend his own man which is 50% of the game while he is a high turnovers machine but we talk about people don't like him as the main reason he's considered overrated. Teammates don't want to always cover other players defensive assignments when there's not even a rotation
That's a double edge sword u got guys back then like Kevin mchale that was an all-star as a 6th man 6th man of the year and an all star as a starter later in his career or even guys now like nas Reid who would b a starter at pf or c on numerous teams now had success as a 6th man and starter and possibly have all star numbers on teams like charlotte houston San an Detroit Washington not to mention those top guys that played 6th man like Manu Jamal or Lue
Starting a game will NEVER be more important than finishing a game Gil. It’s a lot of 6th men that finishes games. You can’t tell me that Danny Green or Bruce Bowen or Boris Diaw or Tiago Splitter (all starters for the spurs at some point) were ever more important or better than Ginobli.
Gil is correct! A starter and a sixth man don't have the same responsibility. Yes you need a solid sixth man. But you can't put a sixth man ahead of a starter with more responsibilities!
Lol its your first time watching NBA?? manu is spurs 2nd best player in his prime before tony reach his prime. Manu is always the right guy to play over a starter like Brent barry or speedy claxton. Same as Phil Jackson played toni kukoc over Bill wenngton or Luc Longley, Its just a style of rotation but thses sixth man such as kukoc and manu are primary players just being sixth man
So being a 3rd option is a bad thing in the league now? Everybody can't be a superstar Gil was good for 3yrs and never won nothing let LeBron tap him on the shoulder his career been terrible since
Gil lost his mind on this one! Jamal Crawford was the best 6 man.. and nobody would say Gil was better than the legend J Crawford.. so there goes that argument
In my opinion.. Id say 6th men (role players in general) are equally... maybe even more important than the star players, especially during playoffs tbh
It does in that those role players often play harder and it shows in the playoffs. Like for e.g. a starters numbers might dip in the postseason but someone coming off the bench has the opposite. @@kinghova9197

Wasnt gil the 6th man once? Gils 6th man take is crazy theres so many 6th man in the nba that would start for other teams. Harden was literally a superstar disquised as the 6th man in okc
Gil be tweaking real talk
Gil please on this one! MANU AND LAMAR ODOM MEANT NOTHING?????
I gotta go back and check Manu must’ve bust Gil ass he always tough on him
He did just checked the stats 8-4 against gil. where gil average 21 manu 14 but crazy how many more minutes Gil play? 10-15 mins more on average. So he wasn’t any better and just mad it takes a team for success.
Team fit is more important than just having the best players on the floor. For instance, than Westbrook would have been starting.
Nah having ginobili below starburst is crazy
Ginobili is in the hall of fame with 4 Rings and an Olympic gold medal, Gil is in his basement talking non sense
It don't matter if you started or not, you were on the floor during the game, part of the 5 on the floor, you had to do the same thing. You had to either recover or sustain.
I see what gill is saying. But i just think using Manu is a bad example. Manu coulda easily carried his own team if he had too. The spurs just had a system, anybody else i see what he’s saying. I’m not about to say Malik monk can carry his own team. He’s a great player, he coulda probably start on other teams. But you can’t say he’s better than certain stars
Manu wouldn’t face carried no team
@@JohanLWill7_ What the f are you trying to say? Are you dumb or drunk?
@@JohanLWill7_ carried team argentina to beat a team of nba all stars (nba starters), respectfully sit down.
@@picklericky03 that’s one game anything can happen in one game against one of the youngest USA rosters ever. He’s not carrying one nba team
@@JohanLWill7_ Can a former All Star and NBA Hall of Famer carry a team? Im pretty sure he can, the best team in the nba? idk . but im sure if you put him on a playi n type team or worse he can easily be the main guy
Manu was a starter the year the spurs beat detroit in the finals and he was damn near the man on that team
Ginobili would cook Gil
Compare Manu’s and Gil’s 2010-2012 stat line… I chose those years because those were the last years listed for Gil as an NBA player..
Give me an amazing 6th man over a 3rd option starter. I did it on cam pendleton coachin kids. Brought my 3rd best player off the bench won the chip.
According to Gill a team is only all stars and nobodies
You can easily tell why Gil didn’t win a damn thing
Swaggy took the 6th man slander to heart
What shook me is when all the hawks players made the all star that one year ridiculous!!!
Manu is 1000% better than Gilbert, Manu is better all around, efificent scorer, clutch and defender. manu is been top 5 most efficient player in his prime, go look at it.
Manu should’ve started. I love him as a 6th man but maybe he would’ve received way more props if he was starting on a team
Gil funny ASF for this one..most sixth man can start anywhere else in the league
I feel like Gil saying there isn’t any real pressure on the 6th man , whatever they come in & do automatically exceeds expectations
That argument doesn't make sense when it come Ginobli, JR, Harden big shot Rob.
GTFOH with that Top 3 SG BS!!!
@@touregarrettif You making ALL NBA in the SG spot , You are a top 3 sg , not excuses
He mad the 3rd team man
They wasn’t focused on him, he got off off the other guys
They definitely would double manu go back and watch. It’s the same shit with klay Thompson, the double comes too late.
Gil talks about how ppl don’t have to bring bron down to glorify Jordan’s accomplishments but he does it with his panel of ppl.
Perfect player to contradict this entire convo Kevin McHale !
Gil’s takes are so wild. First all stars are not supposed to be the best 24 because you have to fill positions and also why are ppg the only thing he ever focuses on?
You must be high as hell😂😂😂😂
Some 6th men play starters minutes and close the game with the starting lineup like Harden in OKC. Sometimes it's a better fit when you have multiple ball handlers (pause). It's no different than coaches staggering minutes IMO.
Gil really just be rapping , you would think he had a 10 year prime the way he talk
What did the short-handed BUCKS "survive"? 🤔
All Star game isn't about the Best 24. It's the most entertaining and who the fans want to see. The All NBA is what really matters.
Carrying the team when starters ( and mostly just one or two stars ) are resting is the definition of responsibility. Manu sacrificed his starting role and helped Spurs win another ring - RESPONSIBILITY TO THE TEAM.
Love these guys are sometimes they just butt hurt
Gil tweaking on the 6th man. Any team that won the chip had at least a solid if not great 6th man
Gil chasing headlines as usual. 😮💨🤣
Teammates don't want to always cover other players defensive assignments when there's not even a rotation
its crazy when kobe says manu is a big competitor and remember manu is 6th man bro
I love Gil but he sound like a 7th grader on this take
Starting a game will NEVER be more important than finishing a game Gil. It’s a lot of 6th men that finishes games. You can’t tell me that Danny Green or Bruce Bowen or Boris Diaw or Tiago Splitter (all starters for the spurs at some point) were ever more important or better than Ginobli.
LO was the 6th man but closed games. The closers are more important then the starters
It doesn't matter who starts the game, it matters who finishes the game. Gil dumb af on this one
Gil hating cuz deep down he kno Manu on another level from him despite coming off the bench
Same as Phil Jackson played toni kukoc over Bill wenngton or Luc Longley, Its just a style of rotation but thses sixth man such as kukoc and manu are primary players just being sixth man
This seems personal to GIL lol
When Gil is right, he’s right, but when he’s wrong, he is wronggggg.
Gil off the shits for this one
Jr smith, lou williams, manu, jamal crawford are some of the best 6th men ever
Talk about kyrie cooking your clippers and your California Boyz Gil 💪🏿
Mr. "I know it all" Gil
Gil is always saying what the NBA is suppose to do like he owns the league. The leauge is jointly owned by the team owners. They can do what they want
So being a 3rd option is a bad thing in the league now? Everybody can't be a superstar Gil was good for 3yrs and never won nothing let LeBron tap him on the shoulder his career been terrible since
No love for SacTown only for the bay area and back down, Cali show me love....
Ginobli is averaging 30 anywhere as anybody he want to
Manu in the HOF
He shouldn't be. Period.
Gil lost his mind on this one! Jamal Crawford was the best 6 man.. and nobody would say Gil was better than the legend J Crawford.. so there goes that argument
Gil when he wasn’t injured was better than JC though…
Jamal have the worst playoffs stats and never play defends, he is not the Best six man , Ginóbili IS.
Even today if im starting any team I'll pick Ginobli over Gil
That show is like shit-take after shit-take after shit-take...
In my opinion.. Id say 6th men (role players in general) are equally... maybe even more important than the star players, especially during playoffs tbh
That makes no sense
It does in that those role players often play harder and it shows in the playoffs. Like for e.g. a starters numbers might dip in the postseason but someone coming off the bench has the opposite. @@kinghova9197
lol a six man is playing against tired starters or bench players 😂they ain’t equal
@@kinghova9197 by 6th man I meant role players as well my bad. But it’ makes complete sense. Them playoff stretches where stars choke or get shut down, and you got a hustle player doing 10+ rebs or a 20 ball… even the stats that don’t show up in the stat sheets. Pass to assist, screens, aggression. All that shit counts
