I was never on board with the Dame trade. Not that I didn't think Bucs shouldn't trade for Dame but I was hoping they'd trade Middleton instead of Jrue Holiday. I get that they're both guards but both are completely different type of players. If I were the GM I would've traded Middleton and kept Jrue. I would've started both of them. I think there's multiple factors to this, but I would say the number one factor is there them not fulfilling the role players as required for that roster after they lost through holiday but of course the loss of holiday is very very impactful like they were supposed to get bug on Bogdanovic on the roster a couple free agencies before he went to Atlanta they let go of Dante Dicenzo too so those are two cute role players that they lost and also the roster has gotten older and they haven't been able to draft or replenish them with the young guys who can contribute to the team so at this point, they may actually be cooked unless they make a trade of letting go some staples in the roster.
The problem with the star player playing high level on both ends is it's not gonna last long. You might get a few good seasons of it but 1 side will falter. This isn't when MJ was playing and there weren't any other great shooting guards to work him several nights a week.

If you look at NBA history with most high volume scoring PGs. They never were good defenders or average at best, rarely. The team was coached/ built in a way to mask it.
