You explained this in an easy way to follow. Where was TH-cam 50 years ago LOL? One of the first crankshafts I replaced was on a new mower I let my cousin use. He hit one of those pipes with a cap that stuck up for underground gasoline's. Did not shear the key, broke the crank off right above the blade.

Oh yes yesterday I mowed one line before it stopped today I mowed one line and a half before it stopped it won’t stay running

The blade turns fine just that round silver thing the the starter coil sits on to start it

You mention point/Magnatron in this video and got me thinking. Do you think you could do a video on converting point ignition to electronic? covering the pitfalls which you do so well.
I will have to look and see if I have an older engine with points give me a couple days and I’ll see what I can come up with
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 That you. I have some I would like to convert. What I don't understand is how timing would work. Points work with the "cam" & gap. New engines have a pickup trigger coil. So accurate timing has me puzzled.
I hit something hard with a lawnmower and then it wouldn’t start the first thing I checked was the key on the flywheel it was not sheared off I took the motor completely apart thinking it the cam and the crank jumped a tooth nothing it was fine I took everything apart put it everything back together by adjusted the valves the spark plug clean the carburetor still won’t start I can get it started my lawnmower usually started in two poles and it ran beautifully and now it doesn’t Want to run very hard to get it started and all I did was hit a rock
is it expensive to fix remember im a disabled woman can't afford a big bill or new mower or hire someone to mow it
I just hit something and it stoped the mower from moving and then it started surging and then I got it running good again and I barley touched a stump and it did it again I just don’t understand it’s never done it before it started one day when I hit a stump I didn’t see while mowing and now I’m constantly having to take out the silanoid and test it and put it back in cause that will fix it and then it just comes back when I hit something but I can’t mow my yard without hitting anything it just isn’t possible there’s like 10 different roots and stumps I can’t really see and I have a cypress tree is there anything you can tell me to help trouble shoot this
Great video, very helpful, my weedeater lawnmower hit a stump really hard and stopped working, but it also started leaking oil out of the exhaust , what do you think happened there? Do you think it is fixable? Thank you for your videos

What are you doing to that crankshaft? Looks like you've been grinding on it.
Is a sheared key something that can be fixed easily? or is best left to someone like yourself?
I wish I got a dollar every time I had to explain that to a customer. I would be rich right now. Really we all would! LOL
