We run a 07 mega cab dodge 6spd with a 3 car wedge just for personal use we have definitely been over 26k before but after 10 years never been pulled over once or stopped at a weight station. Thanks for the info Dave

I'm running a 98 Kaufman 3-4 car trailer with my 6.0 powerstroke f-350 single wheel with ride rite 5k bags I love my trailer cause it's built sturdy. Been hot shot car hauling for dealers for 5 years now and I love it I stay within 250 mile radius.
Must have put some love into the 6.0L ???
I'm also a diesel mechanic. But no not really she's an 05 with 250k all I have done is egr cooler bypass new motocraft injectors and new fuel pump blue spring upgrade 6.4 banjo bolts and motocraft oil and filter changes every 5k miles and I don't beat on it.

@@workingcountry1776 exactly lol forgot that I also put a 60hp tow tune on it and it's 4" turbo back exhaust system so it helps it breath and I won't ever do more then a 60hp tow tune and I'm getting ready to build it cause it's not even studded yet. So I'm doing o ringed heads. Arp studs and a bd screamer stage 1 turbo and coolant filtration system
@@jdiesel2823 depends on where pickup location is if it's spokane witch is 120 miles each way it's 150 per car one way and I never go up or come back empty

Totally agree with you on with Trailers being far superior to flat deck trailer if you’re going to be in the car hauling market. If you haul other freight then a flat deck may be the way to go but I’ve never seen anybody do as well when they try to switch back-and-forth from doing freight or cars. They do far better if they focus on one thing and get good at it Cars or general freight.

hey man thanks for the summary. After watching your videos, I decided to just wait get my CDL and go 5500 or a semi with 7 car. But you said all segments of the market have their own customers like i wont be going one car to one car with a stinger but would a stinger still make more money than a 5500 with a sun country 4/5?

Would you recommend the 90" or 102" wide trailer for non-cdl?
How do you deal with the GAWR with the third car if you’re running non-CDL? Wouldn’t the car being right over the axle but you over the axle rating on a 3500?
Once again, it comes back to knowing your market and equip accordingly to best service that market, run as efficiently as possible and still be safe.

Just ordered a Kaufman 3/4 car low pro 50 footer. And 56 ft with flip outs. Two 10k axles with electric over hydraulic brakes.
I had one sold it always going to be short getting the 4th. But you can get 3 half ton trucks
Was it a strong trailer overall? Cuz I know them 2/3 car Kaufman’s are pretty weak

@@hotshottransport945 I rather put extension on a used take 3 than buy a Kaufman wedge you will crack the frame and the floor is trash. Cant go wrong with a punched hole floor no expand metal
Just count the brace on a kaufman then count the number of braces on a take 3

Hey Dave question! Am Gonna buy a truck for a trailer like you (4car step deck) but am not sure yet if buy a 3500 or 5500 I don’t want to pay too much for the truck cuz am staring the business.
With a 3500 you risk being overweight on your axles. If you are you will have to be leaving cars behind all the time. Go with 5500 or F450

I meant to mention that. The transfer cases usually last around 100k another part to worry about. If its that bad park it.

2012 and older Ram's have issues with the transfer cases because the front driveshaft is always spinning. 2013+ Ram's went to an electronic disconnect for the front axle so the front driveshaft doesnt spin unless you are in 4wd. It helps to save the transfer case. PD Diesel Power has never had to replace a transfer case on any of his 300,000+ Ram's.
