As a new viewer, I want to say thank you for providing such wonderful insight into this process of discovering our ancestors’ stories. I followed your advice and tried to support your channel by watching the ads connected to your videos… Just thought I would let you know that a number of the ads connected to your videos are 3, 4, or 5 minutes long and then roll over to a second or third ad. I know you have no control over YT’s ad placement, so I am wondering, does it help just to watch one ad?
Yes it does... and I appreciate it. Most people don't realize that if you skip an ad, the creator gets nothing. I don't expect you to watch all of those ads. Please feel free to skip after the first one.... or you know... go get a cup of coffee while they run. :) All joking aside... thanks for watching the ads... and supporting the channel in what ever way makes you happy.
I have Jewish ancestors from Bessarabia, and have received an oral history and family names from my now deceased grandparents, but I'm uncertain how to do research in Eastern Europe. It seems that this site might be of help, but I need a strategy to go forward. Any suggestions of who I can contact to get the help I need.
Independently of loading a tree or not, MyHeritage will allow you to do a search and will show what we have. Some record collections are free but require registration. Other collections of records or trees require a paid subscription to see the details.
When you add people and info to your tree from a Smart Match, is the source trees author notified that you’ve extracted info and photos from their tree? If I’m related in a more distant way, I’d be concerned that they block me from viewing their tree cause they might not understand why their ancestor is needed in my tree if their ancestor is the grandchild of perhaps a sibling of my great grandmothers. They might wonder why I want their closer family members in my tree. I personally have found it helpful in confirming that I match with other ancestors that we might share.
The other user receives an email alert when you ACCEPT the match, step previous of extracting the information to your tree. I will suggest you always contact the other user and explain or ask questions about the relationship. Most of the people building trees on MyHeritage are friendly and looking for other relatives as well.
Here are two other episodes about MyHeritage. MyHeritage.com DNA Website Tutorial (2019) th-cam.com/video/yI1T7ZRlxHQ/w-d-xo.html and MyHeritage.com: 5 Tips for All Genealogists! th-cam.com/video/kOd7WC5fhec/w-d-xo.html
This was very informative. I'd love to hear your thoughts and best practices about how to best maximize these features for people like me who keep the working copy of their tree on Ancestry (synced with FTM). Is there a way to sync trees between these proprietary sites, or is it best to manually enter new information from MH into the Ancestry tree? A cross-platform synchronization tool would make things so much easier (sync to Ancestry, sync to MH, sync to WikiTree, etc. from one master tree).
Other than a simple Gedcom export (manually) I’m not aware of any software that syncs to all genealogy websites. Although it’s a great idea. I use Ancestry as my main tree synced to Family Tree Maker. Then I go fishing for records on other sites as needed depending on what records they hold.
Another thought... I just started messing around with Rootsfinder which is free... and while it doesn't exactly sync it does appear to worm all the sites for hints. Just a thought.
Hi Tom, unfortunately, there is no cross-platform synchronization tool ;-( I will suggest you upload a GEDCOM from Ancestry to MyHeritage and then keep it update it manually.
I found a death record on My Heritage, then verified that it was actually a family member. Went back to get a copy a few months later. The tree was taken over by a different family member & the record was deleted. I contacted the new owner who said they didn’t know anything about this record. I then contacted the state to obtain a copy of the record. They couldn’t find it as it was before most records were kept in that state. Sadly this record is now lost 😞.
I am so happy I found your site, the information is invaluable. Thank you
How nice to say. Thanks Etta.
thank you for doing this educational video ... I have been trying to figure out the different things between sites
Glad it was helpful!

They will allow you to put data on the site, but when you do a search on an individual, you have to pay to see the results of the search.

Do MyHetitage DNA tests perform the YDNA analysis to separate mother from father?
Did I understand Daniel to say he had another Demo Tutorial? if so do you have a link to it?

Is it possible to upload My Heritage test data to Ancestry now? It wasn’t previously!
No
Go to Family Tree DNA.
They need to have a monthly 30 day payment plan.
You'll need to talk to MyHeritage customer service about that.
I couldn't agree more
I have a full subscription but keep getting other countries but not canada
I didn’t know it didn’t pay if you skipped the ads. I’ll start just muting them
Thanks. It helps.
MyHeritage purchased Milennia a which back. I'd like to know what the future plans are for their Legacy Family Tree software. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks, Rolf: Currently we don't have further plans than to leave Legacy Family Tree software as is.
Thanks Daniel for the interview!

Humm... Look at Find A Grave, Billion Graves, Cemetery Census (limited states), newspapers, other death indexes.
@@GenealogyTV already checked them all including Ancestry & Family Tree too. Don’t know where else to go.
So is not really free even if you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints?
Because I was told it was, I am confused now.
MyHeritage is not part of the LDS... that is FamilySearch.org. MyHeritage does have a free guest account though... but is mostly a paid service.
Sadly there is no monthly subscription just yearly .
He sure stressed that we would be nickel and dimed for every single action on the site. He didn't really make it sound all that appealing.
She?
can i send a check as payment ?
Who are you sending a check to?
I want to cancel my free trial
You would need to go to your profile on MyHeritage.
He looks like the Dalai Lama
