I've been running into a lot of those. It is much better hearing these stories with some voice acting and actual feelings. Also sometimes net narrator will have out takes.
Or the author has a functional understanding of EW/ECM. The only weapons useful at range against a spacefaring military would be dependent on accurately guessing where your enemy would be with respect to travel time.
I liked that the antagonist understood that they were not enemies. They were noble without being super men. They lived their values. This story is something that I could see one of our militaries doing for another without being over the top schlock about it. Nicely done.

Good story. I like how the alien captain gets his due. In most HFY stories the humans take the lead in everything. The fact that he got the top admiral slot says alot.
I had to look up what the dreadnought ship class was. They were ships that specialized in large caliber guns vs other ships that had a wider variety of guns. Who knew?
I am ashamed to admit I was trying to imagine a captain with a stereotypical British accent only to realize Mr. Narrator is stereotypically British... cough...
Great story! I thought the "rock like debris" was a nice Easter Egg. This channel always comes up with wonderfully narrated stories. Live long and prosper.
Excellent, excellent, Great loss for an exceedingly positive outcome. Sadness and Dignity. The writer should submit more and this channel is the best HFY out there. Thank you.
Quantity is a quality of it's own! You learn this in games like Helldivers 2. End of mission look at the stats. The higher kills usually have a thousand plus shots taken. Then you have those worrying about accuracy with maybe 300-400 shots and not even half the kills of the happy trigger puller.
Well narrator, I really like you. CIWS is an acronym for close in weapon system, or something like that. But most of the military guys pronounce it SEE-Wiz.
Finally a HMS designation and not the stereotypical USS American designations (in star trek USS doesn't mean United states, it means United systems ship so it's why I always use that for USS and human ships)
@@samsignorelli They have both mate. The enterprise is referred to as the U.S.S enterprise and just enterprise. However the U.S.S. stands for United space ship, I got that wrong. Its weird as they've used both designations

Dorsal and ventral seem to be the wrong words to use here? “Heavy dorsal armour” when I imagine it looks like a turtle. And when imagined that way, the position of the main guns look funny.
I don't think that 'only' is a suitable epithet for a George Cross, the most high of honours awarded to civilians in recognition of gallantry without the presence of an enemy, or 'acts of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger.'
You can always depend on the british navy on sea in space thru time and in dimensions other we protect we save we serve ,fight to last and hold the lines
This is the most plausible description of a space battle i have heard. Too many people buy into that crap from atomic rockets without considering things like point defenses and damage control teams.
George Cross is the Highest Award that can be given to a Non-British Serviceman. It's not like the Yanks give out the Congressional Medal of Honor to Non-U.S. Citizen Servicemen.
Erm, why the George Cross? It almost seems to me the Author is unaware of the differences between the two awards.... Neither is subordinate to the other, both are awarded for Valour above and beyond the call of duty, the difference, is the George Cross is awarded for valour shown either by Civilians, or by military personnel when not in contact with the enemy, which is why so many GC's have been awarded to bomb disposal. The Victoria Cross however is awarded for the same valour IN CONTACT WITH THE ENEMY. Tsssas would not have been awarded the George Cross as the action was most definitely in contact with the enemy, he would have been awarded the Victoria Cross. And yes, the VC can and HAS been awarded to members of other nations militaries.... Usually to Commonwealth members true but I know of at least one to a serving member of the US military.
George Cross do get rewarded by military personnel outside the British common wealth. Victorian Cross is for the Commonwealth military personnel. Else, both would be awarded the Victorian Cross
A real human and not a bloody AI voice. Thank you again.

Sounds like the enemy's already within windshield-wiper range.
Spitting distance. Or a rounding error.
