Fantastic video. After owning several homes I spent a few years traveling (finding myself, she’s still looking🥰). I’m 62 & for the very 1st time looking at apartments. So excited to make my own & change at will. No kids, no spouse, selfishly for MeMeMe! Thank you
I saw Actually Ally use removable contact paper underneath peel and stick backsplash. She hasn’t removed it yet, but I was convinced enough that I bought the supplies. (Haven’t installed it yet though.)
Hi Tina , an Vietnamese fellow here. Love watching your videos, giving me so many ideas to try on my first house ever in 2025. Good luck with your channel and moving. ❤
Good luck with your move home, and happy new year to you both. 🥳 Thanks for the positive and negative ideas too. Even though we have owned our home for many years, some of these ideas have appealed to me as easy ways to change up things, so it's not just renters who find your tips useful.👍☺️ Hope all goes well with your future plans, and I'm sure you will enjoy being near family again. 🤗💕
Super glad you’ve figured out your next step! Can’t wait to see you decorate the new space and although I love your current home, I’m kind of excited to see the un-making over of it 😆 Something satisfying about that as well 😄 Hope you get to take some of your DIY stuff with you, like the gorgeous wavy shelf you built 🥹🫶🏻
Thank you so much, Elina!! I am going to miss this apartment soooo much, it's definitely a dream apartment so I'm sad to be leaving it. But I'm excited for the future ahead and can't wait to share the whole undoing process with you 🙈
Very helpful, especially for renters. Our son lived in Chicago for quite a while and we loved visiting the city, went one year for Christmas and it was magical. Looking forward to your new year.
That little custom shelving you made in your kitchen I once had an apartment that had very few cupboards I did a whole wall in shelving made it around the window and it was great!!
Those peel and stick floor tiles are meant to be a mostly permanent, but cheaper way to change your flooring. They are not easily removable unless you put some kind of barrier down first. The adhesive becomes stronger the more you walk on it. I don't know why people think this is renter-friendly. If you left it for years, it would probably also damage the flooring underneath when you tried to remove it.
Wait, are you going back to Chicago to buy a house? Didn't you sell your house there and move to LA a year or less ago because you wanted a change and try LA again? I am so confused but whatever it is wishing you both the best in this new chapter and looking forward to more projects!
Just as you are returning to Chicago, I am leaving Chicago to return to Peoria IL, which I left 35 years ago. I love it here, but I want to live closer to family. Good luck with your move and your journey - Happy New Year, 🎊 Tina!
Being from Chicago originally, you couldn’t pay me enough to move back. Mostly because it wouldn’t be enough to cover the cost to live there 😂 and the weather and taxes are enough to drive anyone out. Good for them if that’s where they want to live, but based on history, I have a feeling they’ll be moving back to CA in 2026.
@@TriniMonstera I get that, and that’s why they’ve moved back there before. But after spending time in IL, they seem to remember why they left, that’s why they’re in CA now. I’m making my prediction now, they’ll announce a move out of IL for 2026. In all the years I’ve watched this channel, they’ve never been in IL for much longer than a year.
Thank you for creating such a beautiful home during our chapter here! Can’t wait to start this next journey together ❤ also, thank you to our amazing YT family for being here the whole time! We have so much more to share 😊
Welcome back! I'm excited to hear which Chicago neighborhood you are moving to. I grew up in Humboldt Park & Belmont Cragin neighborhoods. My first adult apartment was in Bucktown in 1989 🖤
my hack for peel and stick backsplash is to just find a peel and stick wallpaper that looks like tile! it’s not as realistic and textured, but it looks just as nice! I just did it in my apartment kitchen that has no tile just drywall. target’s peel and stick wallpapers have always worked well for me!
Ugh, I covered my drywall with a peel and stick tile, several years ago. I know it’s going to be a nightmare to remove. My future self is going to be very mad at me!😢
Happy New Year Tina and Brian. what a blessing for 2025🎉🎉being able to own your own home 🏡.As a young couple going a step further .waiting to see your new home when purchased some sort of possibilities to advance yourself and getting more comfortable doing your DIY.Thanks for sharing your update .
I have the impression that the youtube video title translate thing is going crazy this week. If this was an email title I would think it was a scam - the german video title says :"5 Dislikes von apt!" Its a mixture of english and german and does not really make sense...other channels german titles show the file name instead of the title the creator used.. i just think If I was not subbed already, I would never click on this video due to the faulty title.

I came SO CLOSE to using peel and stick tiles on drywall 😅 So thank you for making this very clear!! Going to check out those wall panels though 😊

At least you are going in prepared!! Try using a hair dryer to loosen up the adhesive 🙈 Good luck! 💛
@ Thanks for the tip, i’ll definitely be trying that, someday in the future when I work up the nerve.
@@margaretkellymurphy5537i’d only suggest giving yourself plenty of time to do it and not wait til like the week before move out 😅
Happy New Year! 🎊
Happy new year! So excited for new videos from you ☺✨

Do you ever ask the person you're renting for if they want you to leave anything you did?
Great insights, Tina!! Yay!!
I grew up in Fullerton, CA ..... best wishes for your move .... courageous! ..... aloha
Chicago girl here. Brian and Tina come back home ❤🏠🍾
Hiii girly!! Thank you so much, we are excited to be back in Chicago soon 💛
Yes Tina, but how close is Ikea???😂😂😂❤
Happy New Year xx
Yay! My chances of running into you at Ikea are back! 🤣
Peel and stick does not mean removable. It's supposed to be an easier and cheaper product than say tile, but is meant to still be long lasting.
this so, so much! Making sure it is removable is key!
Good morning from SF ❤
Good morning! Thank you so much for watching 💛
When will you guys be moving back to Chicago?
I’ve heard if you are removing adhesive, you should use a heat gun.
Éxito en sus planes❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! 💛💛
Yay chicago ❤❤
Baking soda right
All the best to you and Brian in 2025. Good luck on your move back to Chicago.
