You learn about the cycle, but then you look back at all the interactions, and the oddness (putting it nicely) of this person makes more sense. The first time I spoke with mine: all the intense flirting to an uncomfortable degree despite her looks, the KGB-style interrogation, and improper questions. Last, near the end, it was a narcissistic glitch for a form of manipulation. Basically, after chatting in person for about 2-3 hours, she told me to "f-off" based on my response about promiscuity. Just a minute or so later, all giggles and rainbows again. She ran into the bathroom to fix her hair. The event's conclusion left me so exhausted that I had to take a nap after her departure. You start to understand interactions like that, which should have been a huge red flag, but she was very, very pretty. While dwelling on the positive aspects can be risky, it's equally important to acknowledge the negative aspects. I found one excellent way to break up the rumination is to keep cycling those negative events in my mind; hard, yes, but for me it created a de-emotional weed-whacker (like a negative list idea). I whip that thing out and go to town when I think about her.
Another awesome video! It’s crazy how one person’s behavior can make me feel hated and devalued. I know I’m not the monster that he makes me out to be. I don’t even know who he truly was, other than a covert narcissist.,.
Take it from someone who's been through it. If she does come back, it won't work, she won't change and will suck the life out of you. I know you're hurting but please, for your own good, move on.
Totally normal to feel that way and want them to come back. You're doing the right thing by talking about it and watching some videos. Toxic or not, when a person leaves our lives, it does create a hole. I wish you luck and speed in your healing journey.
There are good people and those who are a pos. so you see we are defined by others and it is a kind of competition, but so many experts telling us to sleep around and then maybe when the time is right we can then tell them who we are, who can we trust?

I feel the same way too. I thought I knew the person very well. Turns out I didn't know who they really were at all.

Mine came back and tried to destroy my life. They are a mess. Avoid at all cost.

As far as trust, the best place to start is really us learning to trust ourselves again. This can be diminished a bit after we deal with a narc.
