  • In this video I explain how a ported throttle body helps the performance of a car, and install the Vmax spiral ported throttle body on my 2011 Camaro ss.

Thanks, it helped me a lot. And saved me time and money. Thanks.

I was going to port mine but decided not to because in stock form my 87mm flows about 1000 cfm which is more than I need anyway. At WOT a more correctly sized flow path will provide higher velocity air flow and thus more power. To have it bigger than you need it will actually cause eddy currents in your intake airflow and cause reduced power compared to a proper flow. The perceived power increase is the quicker flow of air at lower plate movement. Instead you could program your throttle body to open faster. Best of luck.

You should remove the top half of the throttle plate shaft, counter sink new flathead bolts that do not protrude on the threaded end, and file down the bottom half of the shaft by 40 percent or so, this will also help throttle response

it blocks less air under WOT. i'm not sure how it would help throttle response. at part throttle you already have all the air you need.

How about thinning the throttle plate, to a reliable point, where it would be razer cleaved, and throttle response would be that much quicker

meanwhile bbk wants $400+ for the same thing

No.. this guy got ripped off.. BBK is either 92 or 102 mm ports.. and you're getting a new unit.. this guy paid $150 for a used tb and could have done it home with a sandpaper to smooth the ridge out. If they would port it to 92mm then it be worth it

dont get the shaft machined down unless you like weakening it

Ive been doing them that way for 20 years now.

weakened, but not enough to matter

You cut the top of the shaft off with a dremel cut off wheel. I ran my jeep like that for 10 years, no problem.

uhhh no the finish on that machining helps in no way. its eye candy. as long as the finish is smooth. doesnt have to be polished. and no that finish promotes zero swirl. FLAT snake oil. the performance comes fro. smoothing out harsh angles promoting the flow. that little finish is for your eye not the engine

      Exactly

Freaking intake manifold would 100% disrupt any type of “swirl” but in terms of actual logics, that doesn’t happen.

This is a "how to install" video, not how it works. So tbh waste of time for people wanting info on the port and it's benefits, look elsewhere. No hard tests etc ...
