How is Erik doing, hoping all is going well. I know Erik would be helping gring this work out, I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he can escape, he's hard core. G-d bless from Michigan, and merry Christmas.
Thanks for the House update! I was hoping for some more house content. The place looks awesome and nice work doing it right. I like the glass rail idea, can't wait to see it finished.
When I moved into my new house in Utah, the basement was unfinished and I wanted to build my video studio... so I can *totally* relate to every last thing you talked about in this video. I used Rockwool insulation, 5/8 fireproof drywall and attached with RC channel for noise reduction. Sound treated all the walls. Used 20a romex for all the wiring. The only thing I miscalculated was how much more AC I would need to keep the studio cool!
I've done many renos back in the day, and electrical was always my biggest fear when opening up a wall. So many people think they can do electrical work, and they really, really can't. It's amazing that more houses don't burn down. Honestly, I've seen a ton of non-compliant stuff even on sites where it was supposedly inspected, too. Super sketchy. It's probably better to just redo all the electrical if you're tearing off all the drywall just so you know it's to code.
@@WatchJRGoI would've sworn I saw popcorn textured ceilings in your studio room. That was the original purpose for popcorn texture back before people started using carpet to tame echoes and more elaborate methods. That's partially why they put acoustical tile ceilings in commercial buildings among many other reasons.
@@Cartier_specialistdrywall ceilings are commonly sprayed with textured paint. In some areas, Washington state for example, it’s common to have a textured finish on the walls, too. The purpose of textured spray is to hide imperfections in the finish of the drywall. If the drywall is going to have a textured finish, the contractor saves the cost of one more application of mud and sanding. Popcorn ceilings are a super rough finish that was considered stylish in some markets at some times. I think it’s hideous - but I’ve never seen it anywhere except on YT and TV. AFAIK it was never used in the area where I live.
@@morstyrannis1951 It's super common where I live, esp if the buildings are from the 90's or earlier. I HATE popcorn ceilings. You have to vacuum them if they're cobwebby and it falls all over the place. Good luck matching the texture if you ever have to repair it, too! I'd rather put in the time to properly finish the roof but a textured paint would work, too (but that's uncommon in new builds in my area-- new builds are smooth-finished). Popcorn can DIAF.
Merry Christmas from Wichita Kansas. I like to think I am quite knowledgeable about certain subjects, but you and your father are both brilliant and on a level I can only imagine. Hoping 2025 is a great year for you and your family.
Don't put a chair at the top of stairs, people will sit on it and move it back, falling down that big hole. Use a book case, it will block the top, and be useful. Great work, will show the result in time. Love from Scotland ps Happy Holidays
@ I’ve seen a resin printer in use and decided it’s not for me. I’d like to keep my lungs. As for FDM, I’m not as rich so I have a ender 3 s1 pro. A competent printer but not exceptional.
You won't believe this, but I've been thinking about making a 3D-printed ducktail for my car. Today, I decided to pull my 3D printer from storage and took some pics from my car trunk. While I was refreshing my memory by looking at TH-cam videos about F-360, your video popped up. I guess the Algorithm is not drunk today as is not sending me through the weird indian barbers ASMR rabbit hole.
Hey JR. Interested in a Vic 20 (With ALL the extras), and a Sinclare 2000? I have had the Vic 20 since i was like 12. My father had the sinclare since it came out. They worked when I put them back in there original boxes 30 years ago. Not sure why they wouldnt work now. If you would keep them and hand them down to preserve them, you can have for free.
lol just use one of the wireless automation 3 way switches. It turns into a normal switch with a wireless remote companion at the other end. I did this back in the day with insteon stuff.
Fifth. Ha. (I should change my YT name to Race Condition.) "Lisa, if you don't like your job, you don't strike! You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way. "
Previous owner did stupid electrical stuff like that in my house. Told a electrician I know what I found he said without a doubt, guy was hoping I didn't find it and burned the house down.what kind of monster does that to another person. Hooked the ground off a 220 outlet onto a hot wire in the garage.
Hey dude off topic little bit but I’ve been trying to find that video you posted in the big shop I think it was bmw engine swap you posted a particular coolant vacuum set up I want to buy could you help me figure it out or better yet do you know that tool by heart lol I would appreciate it but I also understand if your busy too merry Christmas dude we are waiting for some car videos out here but also enjoy the fixer ups on houses too I reckon but I gotta go work on a car or I’m gonna turn into tree decoration or something lol love all your content tho
You're gonna have to keep buying houses to redo. These are some of your best videos. I say that as a car guy who enjoys that content as well.
I love these too, at least this one was a ton of progress 💯
Thanks for taking us along, I’ve greatly enjoyed all your house content. Tell Eric we’re pulling for him. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!! 🎄
Love Tech Throwback. Can’t wait for this 1sț video from it.

Merry Christmas to all
Your '80s side should be called the stu stu studio
Solid content! I enjoy the home videos just as much as the car videos. I am looking forward to the next video.
when we wait for videos, it means you're getting stuff done - good job ❤
I hope your fiber gets run soon
he's resting
It'll be done on the 10th! 🍻
JohnRoss, whoever invented 3-way switches is a genius. Kudos to you for catching that miswiring job.

Brad nailing the panels in place was the right choice as you were able to relocate them to the new house with ease.
Very excited for you, looks great.
I think your idea of a glass and stainless railing around the statues sounds pretty nice. I hope you can get it soon.
Thank you so much for the upload Mr. John Ross!
You are getting super close to the end John. Thumbs up on the glass railings, that should be bada*s looking when it's done. Definitely a baller move.

Area rugs help with sound deadening also.
The railing sounds a lot like the glass deck railing ones, I think those real good 👍👍
Great work. You should definitely release the series about how you built the tech throwback studio
For all the comments I forecast see coming, the reason for popcorn textured ceilings is for acoustical reasons.
Acoustics or not, I’m not doing popcorn 😛

I love your idea of glass and stainless steel for the stairs, but I fell off my chair when you mentioned the price.
You’re finally stepping into the world of 3d printing. And doing it on the best machine you can get for a sane price.
Yeah the X1 makes it easy 💯 I actually used to have a resin printer, loved the quality, hated the cleaning

@WatchJRGo Check out the OrangeStorm Giga for car parts.. Mine just arrived to build a widebody Audi TT!
Goood for you. I dig the new house content.
Awesome 👍
It's looking good, JR.
Looks beautiful 😍 =I can’t wait to see glass stairwell = I never seen that before
Great update and loved it was a longer video!!!!!

No Metal 3d printer yet!? You have the skills to fabricate 'unobtainium' parts for cars.
Great Videos Always. 😁
I picked up an A1 Mini, Bambu Lab makes awesome machines!
Everyone seems to be picking up A1s this year, Jake just bought one 😳
Good Evening John Ross
Hey Douglas! 🍻
Jordan, a professional painter, looks like she should be painting murals on the walls...after she is done with the base paint.

X1c is awsome. Got an x1c running 2 ams and an a1mini. I still use my og ender 3v2 alot too tho.
I love the purple wall.
Kilz will cover the marker. Any residual odors will be killed as well.
More of the painter girl please!
What did help double the plaster board 😊 helping echo
Blades go on prior to install, we make a killing R&R ceiling texture, that was a 70s -80s thing
This is knockdown, not popcorn 💯

Link the sound deadening pads?
Just search for Auralex, I had to buy these directly from them, it’s the home studio kit 💯

So the burning question is when will you be totally in the mansion Jr….
Save the $4500 and put a ball pit at the bottom of those stairs.
Long time no see, is that Amorghini in the background? Great looking studio!
House looks great!!! You have great taste but I hope you don’t over spend what you could ever sell the house for💰💰💰

Use baby gates on stairs
No green screen or wall?
She is easy on the eyes
Who is we?
With all due respect, wouldn't it be easier and less expensive to tear down the house and start from scratch?
Not now.
