Close Up Photography with the FZ200/300/330, Choice of Lenses.

Following many questions regarding the choice of close up lenses, the field of view and the depth of field when using these lenses I've put together this short presentation to try and answer some of these.

Hello Graham, thank you for your videos. I'd like to know if in the fz300 camera there is the FLAT function for videos. So can we record a video with no saturation, no contrast and no exposure using an existing function? Thank you for the attention!

Great video as usual Graham and very informative. One technique I use for close up/macro work on the FZ1000 is to employ 4k video. I rarely use a tripod and I find that a big problem is getting accurate focus, as very slight movements either backwards or forwards (usually caused by simply breathing in and out) will result in an out of focus subject. To help overcome that issue, I turn focus peaking on and run the 4k video. While it is running I can see the peaking popping in and out and from that I know some of the frames are in focus and can be easily saved later. This will also work for the FZ300, but not the FZ200, unless you want to try HD video instead. If you don't want to use 4k video you can fire off a number of shots in burst mode and hope to get one that way.

That's a good idea, ensuring the shutter speed is high enough to prevent motion blur would help as well i guess,

Graham, can you do a macro setup to make a good closeup of the iris of the eye? It is very difficult to get a really clear picture to read the iris. Would be much appreciated.

I purchased a x2 close-up from Canon. I believe it's an achromat (it should be at the price they charge!) and it comes in a 52mm fitting, so no adapter ring is needed. It's perfect for plant photography.
I also have the Raynox lenses and I find that the 250 is capable of 'photographing' a 35mm slide at full size, so this allows me to use it in a slide-copying rig.

The Raynox are well designed lenses, pity they didn't produce a 52mm variant as well.

Your comments on the pros and cons of using super magnifying MSN-202 and MSN-505 as oppose to the 150 and 250 Raynox ?

Graham, you never seem to mention Panasonic's own DMW-LC55 which I bought, how does this close up lens compare to the Raynox or other close up lenses for sharpness etc?

Hi Mr. Houghton, thanks for the very good videos about fz300. I would like to ask you something about close-up lens such as the polaroid you mentionned i nanother video. i have a Minolta achromatic +2 diopter wich is recomended to use on 200 mm fcal length and i'm willing to buy a +3.8 diopters of the same brand but it specifies a 50 mm focal length for best results. How can I know wich will be "better" to shoot bugs on flowers/plants ? Thank you
