They are so fun, creative and talented!!! Disney was also so impressed with this arrangement they invited them to perform it at a corporate event. Looking forward to more reactions from you on this group. They never disappoint! If you like Disney, their Little Mermaid and Moana medleys are great. Hoist the Colours is quite a ride too. Musicals? Wicked or Greatest Showman medley. Rock? Nothing Else Matters, In the Air Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Dream On. You really can’t go wrong with anything you pick. Enjoy the ride! ❤
Oh gosh…you indeed need the Metallica…that is a performance for the ages. In fact, it was so good it caught the attention of Chicago’s producers who brought Voiceplay out to New Jersey in December to perform live with Chicago.
Layne arranged If I Were a Rich Man/Girl but hadn't chosen a female collaborator. It was shortly after Cesar joined them in 2020. Ashley is a friend of his, he recommended her, she fit perfectly. I will recommend Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3, it is amazing! Did we mention that Geoff has a solo channel? When Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay stopped touring, they upped their studio work and Geoff started doing solos. All of them are great, but start with Shenandoah. Trust me.
To be honest, although I had seen VoicePlay's "Oogie Boogie", I didn't start to follow them until I discovered Geoff's solo channel (I think because "Misty Mountains" trended) and from there rediscovered VoicePlay. Now I'm obsessed, haha.
Ashley is so good. She is a friend of Cesar's and has worked as part of 'Voices Of Liberty' at Disney World. She has done a few tracks and live shows with VP and always kills it. If I was a rich man and Running up that Hill are great examples of her with VP.

Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music for Encanto, and this song is the reason Bruno was named Bruno. They had another name, but he had come up with the Bruno-no-no bit, demonstrated it to the producers and they fell in love with it, and approved the change after ensuring it would not be an issue for the rest of the story.
Okay, my friend... I have a confession to make. Of all the "major" a cappella groups, VoicePlay is my favorite. As much as I love Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voctave, I have to give VoicePlay a slight edge. Why?? Good question! I'm glad you asked! 🤣 All of them have spectacular voices and harmonies. With 11 members, Voctave would win if it were ONLY about the vocals. But when all things are considered... Set, Makeup, Song selection, variety of 'mood,' and all the other "stuff" that makes a group unique... I have to give VoicePlay the nod as my fav. In terms of "what next?" You have to narrow it down a LITTLE. Happy and upbeat? More 'serious' in tone, like Viking motif, or Rock covers? If you go to their site and scroll though, just pick something that makes you think, "They do THIS a cappella??" Pick that one. Seriously... you can't go wrong. Great reaction! I'm really glad you are enjoying the a cappella rabbit hole!
Oh this was fun to watch, as soon as I saw you had reacted I was thinking 'wait till she gets to Geoff's costume change mid song, and then the scream from the rat' 🤣From what I gather Ashley Diane convinced him to do it. The facial expressions on the rest of them during Geoff's main part were hilarious. Voiceplay is definitely a rabbit hole to explore.
He did write this. A couple more with Ashley - If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush/Stranger Things), a mini of The Time Warp (Rocky Horror Picture Show).
I would suggest go disney route with them so...Little Mermaid medley, Moanna medley, they have a lot of songs from Nightmare before Christmas so, This is Helloween, Oogie Boogie's song, Whats this?, Kidnap Sandy Claws. Then we got Haunted Mansion songs like Grim Grinning Ghosts, Hide and Seek done also in a haunted Mansion setting..Friends on the ither side from Princess and the Frog, Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Damme...then can also check Wicked, and also their very original cover of Hall of the Mountain King.
Love how you refer to them as the “Theatre Kids”! It’s so fitting! I love this group! A little info: they were on the same Sing Off season as Home Free. So happy that you love this group, too! There are so many videos from them, as well. One of my fav non-theatrical cover VP has done is Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” or White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”!
OR In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins)... they also do Dream On (Aerosmith) and I love their version of Carry on Wayward Son (Kansas). In my view VPs genre range is the broadest and they never disappoint.
Another song and one of my favourites, also with Ashley, is their cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" (from "Stranger Things"). Anyway, as I'm an a cappella fan and a septuagenarian ex-ginger old codger, I've subscribed even though I have no notification bell to click (??).
LOVE this! Fantastic reaction. ❤ #voiceplay If you like this song, ANOTHER a cappella group did an incredible version. I’d like to introduce you to the Bass Gang. 🔥
Howdy Red! Thanks for another wonderful reaction! Since you love Voiceplay and Home Free, they have a collaboration that you simply must give a listen/watch. It's called Zombies vs Hillbillies. I'll even bet you can figure out which group plays the Zombies and which plays the Hillbillies ;-) Keep 'em coming and I'll keep watching.
I have enjoyed your recent Voice Play reactions and have now subscribed to you channel. I enjoy the talent of all these acapella groups but Voice Play is my home town favorite. They are a group from Orlando Florida and all of the members and their frequently featured guest have worked as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks. You may be confused by the different members and featured guest at first but J None left the group to join the Navy. J. None still frequently comes back frequently to sing with them when he is on military leave and their featured guests that fill in are people they have known and worked with in high school, college days of working together at the theme parks and on the cruise ships, or gigs in the local clubs. Some of their more frequently featured guests (like Ashley Diane here) we think of as Voice Play's extended family and love them too.
You have to check out this is Halloween by them. Funny beginning but watch and be surprised. Voiceplay and homefree in my opinion are the best acapella group's out there hands down. I know I've seen the compilation video they did together on TH-cam. Cowboys vs zombies. I have no doubt you'd love it!
Love your channel, discovered it about a month ago been on every day since. Love Home Free, Voice Play and Pentatonix. There is one a cappella group you have left out. Voctave Voctave is a 11-Member A Cappella group based in central Florida. Enjoy there medley of Disney Princess songs!! You should totally react to if i were a rich man/girl also featuring Ashley Diane. Funny thing. They have done a moana medley featuring Rachel potter. You should also check out the little mermaid medley as well.. absolutely mind blowing. spoiler alert: Geoff is Ursula lol
There are so many to recommend, but for another ‘bop’, fun, dancey vibe, I’ll say watch “Drunken Sailor”. There are songs they have that are more ‘epic’, but I dance in my kitchen to that one!
@@redheadedneighbor If you are branching out to new groups and styles, check out Lindsay Sterling and Piano Guys. Both have amazing stories. Lindsay was on an America's Got Talent type show and picked a song that was too hard to keep the rhythm for and one judge told her she would never make it. She was so crushed she almost gave up. So she started doing YT videos and became a star. She just graduated college at BYU in 2021 ish so she was touring and finishing up a degree at the same time. What amazing talent! Piano Guys... saw them in concert. You cannot pack more joy into a few talented family men! Christmas just isn't the same without them!
Another wonderful a cappella group is "Maytree." They're based in South Korea and mostly just do short medleys, but they do have some long-form songs as well. I enjoy them and wish they churned out more content on their channel, anyway. But as many have already mentioned -- you really can't go wrong with anything from Voiceplay, Home Free, or Pentatonix.
@@redheadedneighbor Peter Hollens is another wonderful a cappella guy, though he layers multiple tracks (up to 120 sometimes) and will produce/alter/edit the sounds of some of them to make it sound more instrumental. His work is realyl excellent. And he collabs with Home Free relatively often.
Lovely reaction. If you like Lin-Manuel Miranda they have a "Moana Medley" and "My Shot" one of their early more theatrical/costume style videos when they first started really heading that direction you may enjoy. But honestly I haven't found anything I really didn't like when I just went back to their early TH-cam videos after I first "collided" with them. Just watching them blossom has been a real pleasure.( and watching Geoff's hair grow)
For more from Ashley Diane ,she helped Voice Play cover Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush, totally Disney free. (edit, expanding comment); Many of Voice Play's covers are animated Disney sourced, Layne Stein the vocal percussionist, does double duty switching off with Geoff and Eli arranging the songs V.P. records. Layne took on the challenge of writing the vocals to add to a centuries old orchestral piec by Edvard Greig called In the Hall of The Mountain King. they "tell" a story without singing a word, leaving the story to form itself in the viewer's mind while being accompanied by a very recognizable tune. I'm pretty sure you'll have fun.
Try their version of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" featuring Elizabeth Garrazzo (sp). It kinda reminds me of a live action version of one of those old Merry Melodies cartoons.
I must be under the rock below your one cos I didn't even know this song. 😂 They're great and very talented. However I was happy not knowing this song to be honest. 😁
