Awesome video! I remember when Toyota produced the Van. At the time, I found it hideous to look at. I couldn't imagine how anyone could drive a vehicle the shape of a cargo box on wheels. Today, 30 yrs on, I find it more attractive than anything produced by Toyota today.

I grew up riding in the back of a 85 dark blue Toyota van. My dad bought it new at camelback Toyota in Phx AZ. Such a cool van!

+firstmusic00 they still make great and interesting vehicles, its just that North America doesn't get any of them. Check out the Japanese Domestic Market vehicles, they kick ass
This van here is the most rare according to Autotrader. I was doing a search and for each one that comes to market 10,000 searches are preformed.
The 5-spd, 4x4, cargo van is the holy grail "trim" for these vans (which is what this one is)
just picked one up a month ago in LA it's been good to me so far only thing that went out was the fuel pump . other then that great van fun to drive...

I had an 87 Toy Conversion Van 4x4, 5sp Manual. I sold it 15 years old and live to regret it to this day. I am searching for one again. God. . .I missed that van.

JustinIraniTraining I was able to buy cross brackets and a basket at a local scrap yard pretty cheap, it’s not quite as long as the one shown but It does the job. I talked to some other guys who built their own with a welder and some tubing.

I just bought an 2 owner 1987 Toyota Van and I love it. What tires and lift are you running? How badly did that roof rack effect your MPG? I got 20ish on the 300 mile trip on the way home.
I'm the new owner of this van. It gets about 17-18mpgs. Roof rack probably knocks it down about 2, maybe more if I fully load it. Been replacing and tuning things up lately to try and get it up to 20mpg. Lift is a torsion bar crank up front (about 2") and the rear was mr gasket spacers but I removed those and added longer Ford Aerostar springs (slightly trimmed) and Tacoma TRD Bilstein shocks. That gave it about 2 or 2.5" of lift in the rear (and now it has additional travel - better for off roading)
Tires are BFG KO's, probably going to replace them with KO2's or General Grabbers in a year or so. 15" wheels from a suzuki sidekick. tire size is 215/75/15

1987 Toyota Van. 4x4, manual 5-speed, 2.2 liter 4YE motor (made by the toyota industrial division for use in their forklifts) Has about 2" of lift in the front with cranked torsion bars and 2" in the rear with spacers in this video but i removed those and now its about 2 or 2.5" in the rear with Ford Aerostar springs and Tacoma TRD Bilstein shocks.

this is a sport that i am perplexed why people are into it. i love the outdoors and i love my toy van. but spending all that time and money on gear to go out and drive up and down hills is totally... you do you. that said. we need to rally together and get toyota to import the new ones. and we need the options of electric/diesel, auto/manual and 4x/awd. we need to get them to import the new ones into the u.s. i think mine has a blown gasket or something and i need to get another
