Years ago I saw a portable frame straightening guy use a plumb bob that he hung from certain points of the frame and he drew chalk lines on the concrete floor to determine the diamond in the frame. Of course he has books that provided the frame specifications and locations to measure from and to etc. Most of the measurements were angular or cross measurements to get the actual frame square and level via the plumb bob. I'm sure there was much more about his methods but he got the diamond out of the frame and all points were leveled and other measurements were the wheelbase on both sides as well as the track of the rear wheels to the front and thrust angle. Interesting work.
I've seen measurements like that in factory service manuals. Caulk/marker on a garage floor and a plumb bob/laser is a great way to turn something complicated into an easy to measure 2D shape. Once you know where the short cross dimension is the porta-power can push it out.
Great job Matt n Josh. Better weld up some supports to that frame if gonna be towing heavy loads as the metal is somewhat "softer" now. Sweet deal if can clean it up nice
Should be able to get frame dimensions from Robbie Layton..use the back hoe part to pry over the frame after its tied to the Bridge..to the Tree..to the Jeep....swing the bucket and "Smack" it Good..Lol 😂 😅
The easy start would be removing the outside dual tire so both sides are the same. Then, set a strait edge on hubs to measure the axle front and back. That will have to be after matching up leaf springs and mounts.
frame rails should be straight front to back but they may bee straight at different heights lol when you get out to Utah have Robbie Leighton put it on his frame machine or at the very least give you the frame measurements @@bleepinjeep
I went and finally got me a new winch setup and a new lift kit for this other truck I just got to play around in. I took your advice I'm going to try out the synthetic line it came with and eventually get me a freedom winch line I've never tried the synthetic in my life all my other winches have the steel cables. It's crazy to think that this little rope the size of my finger or thumb can drag out my whole Silverado.
@@bleepinjeep oh yeah I have seen it in action in your videos and once on the trail. I tried it out after install like it a lot so much easier to deal with as well gonna have to change over all my steel to synthetic line
I found that frame shops are pretty reasonably priced. Had a Jeep straightened for $700 a couple of years ago. The front was knocked 4" off to the side.
Hey Josh, good to see you vaping instead of smoking cigarettes. I did the same thing a several years ago, but then I bought a single package of nicotine gum at Walmart and it helped me completely quit nicotine for good. I'm a year and a half clean and it was actually a very easy thing for me to do.
I smoked in my early 20's and now I'm 40 and haven't touched a cigarette in 10 years or so. My girlfriend at the time (wife now) didn't want to be with a smoker and I was willing to give us killing myself, so she changed me in a positive way. I had quit previously because I was doing a lot of mountain biking but picked it back up until I met her. What worked for me is making new habits so I didn't fall into my old ones. It's like hitting the frame with a sledge while it is under pressure to change it's shape. I needed a shock to my behavior to make the change stick.
Thanks...yeah I gotta quit vaping now too...I'm not convinced it's "healthier" than smoking. I was doing good with the nicotine pouches but they started giving me heartburn
Take the truck to Matts shop where you have his lift. Or go to junk yard find truck that has a good frame in the back. Cut it off bring it to Matts shop. Then cut off bad frame and weld other frame to truck. Problem solved. Thanks for the video guy's. Hey Matt what is goin on with your dads truck ???
Its just about done, I think we have 2 more episodes and then I'm waiting until April to unveil it. Theres more behind the scenes photos and content on Patreon if you are interested.
Let's go do some sketchy stuff, doo daa doo daa, let's go du some sketchy stuff doo daa doo daa dey!! I love you guys!! Thanks for sharing!! I would get a good half of a frame at a salvage yard, instead of doing all the sketchy stuff. Anyways, I am sure this will be a beaut when she's done! Thought I saw a Freemason sticker up in the left corner of the back window. That's a guarantee for the truck beeing haunted. I am a freemason myself, and we are scary!!! 😁 Good luck!! Best regards from Roy from Norway!!
It looks like the tube may have pulled out of the housing slightly. I'd try to straighten it first after making sure it is bent with some measurements or an axle alignment bar.
Go to the junkyard and get the back half of a good frame. I know older rangers are 2 pc frames. Just cut out rivet's and reweld. Or get the entire back half of another front wrecked truck. That way you know the frame is straight and it will track straight down the road with a trailer. Also you could decide to f-250 swap it with a SRW axle and bed and not a dually if ya wanted.
A laser level somewhere makes a great reference point just have to know how to set it up well. Get a hold of that Robbie Layton guys phone number he may have some great tips.
It's a fixer upper....good engine and trans. I looked pretty hard and couldn't touch a 4x4 dually diesel in good condition around here. It'll be a good truck...have some faith :)
4 grand for a wrecked truck?? Y’all are getting scammed, I’ve found a couple 350s on Facebook up in Indiana for less than that not wrecked just needing a transmission or some slight work
And if you get a wrecked truck....it was running and driving. "Just needs a transmission" can turn into a nightmare. Not that a wrecked truck can't. We can bend metal though.

Josh is a very resourceful guy! He’s going to get it working, I don’t doubt it for a second
Josh can fix it. After watching the videos, I think Josh can fix anything. With that being said, Josh. I've got this problem that..., lol!
That will be a really nice hauler truck once you guys get it fixed up! Nice find Josh!

Yeah it was nice when I had a frame machine to work with...but tractors and bridges work too lol
Great job Matt n Josh. Better weld up some supports to that frame if gonna be towing heavy loads as the metal is somewhat "softer" now. Sweet deal if can clean it up nice
I love your frame machine.
I love your style of creative problem solving!
This is going to be an awesome hauler. 😊😊😊
I have full faith that Twisted will make the games

Make sure you have the same rims on both sides or measure off the outside of the axle. Who knows if he didn't throw an odd tire on the damaged side
hmm, good thought
Keep up the good work
The easy start would be removing the outside dual tire so both sides are the same. Then, set a strait edge on hubs to measure the axle front and back. That will have to be after matching up leaf springs and mounts.
a level slab and 8 jack stands that are the same start from front and work your way back you will plainly see the damaged area
good idea, is the frame supposed to be level from front to back though?
frame rails should be straight front to back but they may bee straight at different heights lol when you get out to Utah have Robbie Leighton put it on his frame machine or at the very least give you the frame measurements @@bleepinjeep
I always believe everything can be fixed. But the equipment being used is straight up hillbilly. Love it.

synthetic is actually stronger than steel, and safer too

@bleepinjeep YesI became a member ,thanks Matt
Score! Is this gonna be new crawler hauler after Games or is this one for Josh? I need to buy a trailer soon. Have fun boys, ill be watching for ya 👍🏻
this is Josh's crawler hauler
@@bleepinjeep awesome! Go Josh!
Vroom vroom! Gotta be able to go riding outside of windrock!
👌🏻 exciting
It's called stagger. The truck will turn better in one direction!

It looks like the tube may have pulled out of the housing slightly. I'd try to straighten it first after making sure it is bent with some measurements or an axle alignment bar.
13:38 you correct Josh then misspell diesel. 🧐
I am surprised the frame did not twang back into shape after cutting the hitch

No way 2 piece frames? Thats cool. Ill have to research how those are designed and fit together 👍
I have a line on a nice rust free frame. Not gonna happen before we have to leave, but in the future. Just trying to get it on the road for now
Bridge over troubled waters.
Lol ,why didn't you bring it to Layton Autobody? Should have brought it to Mr. FANCY PANTS ROBBY. LOL
Hey Matt!
I can't believe you guys are measuring off the ground and there are two different springs, you're chasing your tails
Does Josh live close to you? Do yall film every day or just certain days?
not super close, we work at least 5 days a week and film a lot of it but some days things around the shop are just not too exciting to film
Didn't you say the block on the passenger side is taller than the block on the driver side that would make it look like the frame is twisted
First thing you should do is sell it and get you a Ram 25 or 3500
And have transmission failure issues?
Only 10 thousand allowed so check on tickets for the off road games before you just show up.
yes, do buy tickets beforehand!
To be honest buy new shackles, perches, bolts , and bolts and go from there.
First perform an exorcism!
A laser level somewhere makes a great reference point just have to know how to set it up well. Get a hold of that Robbie Layton guys phone number he may have some great tips.
Yeah it's a FORD
I'd make a call,
Layton auto body does stuff,
He has a frame stretcher, flatbed designer and a painter booth.
🤪🧐
Yep....he's also 30 hrs away. We got this ;)
4 grand!! A couple more and got one that was fine. That’s a parts truck
It's spelled axle😉
I found a big tree with an exposed big root an tied my truck down
$4k seems a bit steep to pay
Just take it to a frame shop and be done with it..... just saying
cut off the back half or get new frame
I can’t believe you paid that . Depends on the mileage. But could be a great parts truck. But not a fixer upper
It's a fixer upper....good engine and trans. I looked pretty hard and couldn't touch a 4x4 dually diesel in good condition around here. It'll be a good truck...have some faith :)
Robbie Layton can fix it for yall...
Y’all should just go to the junk yard and find a used frame and change it.
Your content is sooooo much better than colts. Love your channel for sure.
The audio was horrible in this video
The audio wasn’t bad at all. Maybe replace your blown speakers? 😅
4 grand for a wrecked truck?? Y’all are getting scammed, I’ve found a couple 350s on Facebook up in Indiana for less than that not wrecked just needing a transmission or some slight work
an F350 diesel dually 4x4 quad cab with the 7.3L powerstroke? I think not
