Josh deserves the hat, he showed that a pretty much stock jeep can be fun when pushed to the limit, more fun than a fully built jeep that is just out for a Sunday drive
@@bleepinjeep I ran this trail years ago, before the first ledge was uncovered as much as it is now. It was a crazy trail do half of at night and in a storm......lol
@23:33 you reminded me about a news article I saw about a mummified dog that was stuck inside of a tree and found about 20 years later. Thanks for keeping Josh safe.
That trail was absolutely bananas, guys. To turtle the scorpion on that ledge says all that needs to be said about the difficulty of it. The lil' Jeep should be rebranded to Jepepee because it sure has some spunk in it to make it up as far as it did. LOL Thanks for sharing and taking everybody along on this ride. Cheers!
Great idea for a video series. Watching Matt be cautious is interesting and entertaining! You've done easy, doing hard now, need to get Hope to drive medium trails!
Give him the hat, he's entertaining AF and a great part of BJ. I'd love to see a follow-up in late February when the ground thaws and all that dirt turns into the slipperiest mud I've ever encountered
Man Scorpion Crawler vids have a special place for me. I started watching the hannel just a little before the build and to see it now doing it thing is awesome. Its the little things like the winch controls in dash that really show justhow refined of a rig it is.
Never heard of this trail and it didn’t disappoint either!! It would be very difficult if wet the way Windrock normally is!!😃 Josh did very well with the YJ! Love those spicy Italian Gardenia Josh, I’m hooked!!😋
I put 8000 miles on my atvs, riding Windrock from 2002-2004. I rode everything on the south side of 116, and at the end of our riding there, we were 50 miles from the parking lot, north of 116. It's been twenty years since we've been there. I've been watching videos of the park, and how it is now. Jeeps, dune buggies and side by sides have sure changed the look. I did all those trails, on a Polaris Predator. From what I can see, other than the gravel roads, I'd be shit outta luck. lol
Hey , i just got the time to watch this one. The Scorpion 2.0 is a kick butt buggy. Hell of a build matt. Now lets get an atlas for the other killer buggy in the family. 😁👍✌️
Josh definitely deserves a hat. What brand of tires are those on the YJ? Our stock 95 YJ will be ready for new tires soon, and value your input. Thanks for all the fun you put out!
I remember doing this trail probably 15 years ago or longer in an XJ on 35s. I only had to winch once, the ledge Josh called the 'link getter' was barely bigger than a speed bump and the downhill after the summit was nothing. It is astonishing how that trail has changed!
As mentioned, trail 7 backwards would be froggy. No huge ledges, but steep V notches for a while. Probably not as well known as the other hard trails, but Trail 40 has a lot of challenges per mile.
Nice!!! What size tire is the Crawler running? ....or Old school Dana 300! Trail 90 and yes, he deserves a hat for climbing, spotting and filming Atomic!
They have changed the exit from where it used to me. Old exit had many drop off ledges and slick, very slick shell rocks so breaks could get you in trouble big time. I have a 4 speed Atlas, and the 10.33 gear in the lowest range was my best friend. Going down, even with a 120" wheel base, the rear would lift, and just a little throttle, wold bring it back down, just to hit another tall ledge. I had heard of many roll overs, mostly end-O's and people getting hurt.
Absolutely love your channel! It would be epic to ware a bleeping jeep hat on the trail to keep my bald head from burning in the sun with the roof top off lmao!!
Josh if you’re having circulation issues in your legs, but you feel as if you have decent stamina, you may be experiencing Burgers disease, I am only 59 but had major blockages in my femoral arteries in my legs, I felt strong but had no stamina to walk up hills, quit smoking and get your circulation checked in your legs, they use a microphone to check for low blood flow, not easily fixed after it’s taken hold, not always about your lungs, stay healthy and happy Brother and enjoy a long happy wheeling life !!
I was watching @4WD247 the other day and they were at the Rubicon and I told them they should get ahold of you and come to Windrock if they want some good trails to ride. They are Aussies and I believe you guys could make a great video together.
Hey Mat At one point, I think you pulled down the Scorpions front axel down with the winch. Can you please explain the reason for that? Thanks. PS Josh deserves a hat.
On a steep ledge you can winch down to the axle which will add weight to the front end in an attempt to keep you from flipping over backwards. We call it sucking down.
no, i cant think of anything, it works great. If you havent seen the series its Scorpion Crawler 2.0 where we built that. We modified the steering up as high as possible and thats what I want to do with the front now as it is way better than what we did on the front axle.

Gonna have to go hit this one in bouncers. Looks fun!
come on out, I don't have a bouncer but can show you around.
One of the best videos I’ve seen of showing atomic ridge…
after running this I looked it up to see if we missed anything and you're right. there is nothing out there on Atomic Ridge.

Rusty running on 3 cylinders and bad gas, Josh deserves a custom beanie!!

Lock Jaw deserves a low buck, average Joe rebuild.
Same here, I hope the Wrangler becomes a build series!
I think old rusty deserves a little love for getting so far up a trail even the scorpion was finding difficult 🤷🏻♂️
ya that trail 90 was no joke, I'm surprised that pos made it that far 😂
That was pretty brave! I think Josh has definitely earned a hat! Beautiful area!
Think that was trail 90 or 91. Can't remember but I blasted my TJ up that trail. Couple fun sections. That first ledge was slick

I'm not sure, I'll have to look. I want to say they look like pitbulls to me. Maybe Josh knows?
Rear steering is definitely a plus for a Rock Crawler. I can see how useful it can be on some obstacles from your video.
