Making Connections: The SLP and Community Based Services to Transition Aged Youth and Adults

As individuals with disabilities transition out of high school programs and into adulthood, community-based services are often limited or nonexistent. Previously-learned skills and a host of new skills are essential for success in new adult-centered environments and activities with a variety of new and different communication partners.
Effective use of visual supports, Assistive Technology, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), social skill and empowerment are essentials for many transitioning youth.
Britteny is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with knowledge and passion to the provide services to support young adults into becoming the adults they want to be.
