    I just wanted to say thank you! my girlfriend spent nearly 3k at dealer to get a new tipm installed before she moved 2k miles away. it didn't fix the problem and dealers here would not even look at it without 3 to 4 hours diagnostic at $295 an hour since they didn't originally diagnose it. they actually said drive it back to dealer. about 30 minutes after watching, I had it done. all the problems went away. no clicking from the box, the cd player is not trying to eject with keys out of ignition. I haven't replaced horn fuse yet because that woke us at 4am before I fixed it. I already liked and subscribed before commenting. thanks again.

    I can't thank you enough for this video. My 2008 Jeep Wrangler started acting up a few months ago. HVAC system would kick on and off spontaneously, passenger door wouldn't lock time to time, and both headlights completely stopped working at the same time. When switched on, they would flicker 4-5 times and would not turn on for a day or so. Followed your video, let the TIPM and battery sit overnight, reconnected everything and sure enough everything is working. Hope it stays like this!! Thank you so much, you saved me hundreds

      So glad to have found this comment. Was driving on the interstate last night and all of a sudden my jeep went crazy! The heater was kicking on and off, the dash started flashing like crazy and then I lost my lights!!! Pulled over for a few minutes and was able to baby it home (headlights and dash were a light show though). I have more confidence about getting the TIPM now.

    This video was a HUGE (I cannot overstate that enough) help. Thank you for posting. For those of you undertaking this task, I cannot stress enough that after releasing the cam device on each connector, make sure you push down on the see-saw release tab (I don't know what they are called) firmly so as not to break them (like I did on 2 of them).

    I have a 2010 Nitro and my wife was driving at night when the lights stop working. After researching it I found it's a faulty TIPM. The dealer wanted over $1100 to repair it. Luckily I found Mak. I got one of his TIPMs and my car works great now! I also live in LA si I was able to pick it up in like 20 min. Instalation was fast and easy. Thanks Mak!

    The brother of one of our mechanics had a 2007 Dodge Nitro that had a likely TIPM issue. Not only did I get personal, caring service over the telephone, but I ordered a TIPM after determining that it was likely the problem (and I was educated that it should be replaced on that year Nitro anyway, as it is one of the most notorious). The price at Mak's for the TIPM was less than the dealer with a shop discount and some adding pencil sharpening (for a brand new OEM part), even after overnight shipping via FexEx. The TIPM installed perfectly, required no dealer coding (some lights were on after install, which went away after a day of driving, just as was explained to me and I hopefully expected). The problem was solved and everyone involved on our end was extremely grateful. This is what good business is all about, personalized service and customer education. As a shop of professional mechanics from Seattle, we were completely delighted with our experience and look forward to doing business again if the need arises - we could not ask for any better.

    For as many years as I've watched TH-cam, don't remember ever liking or commenting on any video. Just ordered a TIPM from Mak on Friday, arrived, in Hawaii, by Monday early afternoon, and in my car by Tuesday. I don't even know if it works yet or if it will solve my problem, but the detailed instructions provided in the box by Mak, and this video, were awesome. I've broken countless clips off cars over the years b/c I never saw some hidden tab on it. Not this time, the one clip I had problems with I just needed to run back to my computer and rewatch how Mak describes removing it. No detail left out. If he were an Amazon storefront I'd give 5 stars. Excellent price, super reasonable return policy. This guy knows how businesses should be run.

    Thank you!! I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger that was having issues with the wipers going bezerk for years. More recently, it wouldn’t stay running but had weird electrical issues. It ended up being the TIPM. My local auto shop wasn’t sure if that was the issue, and said it would be at least 1400$ for this part and they might have to still do the PCM and another 1200$. Thanks to your video I bought a used tipm from a scrapyard for 27$ and had my car working in less than 10 minutes.

    Okay, this is kinda funny. I took my Dodge Journey to a mechanic who told me the TIPM was bad on my car. He told me he couldn't replace it because it requires programming by the dealership to get it working for my specific car. I went to the dealership and they quoted me $1375 for my TIPM, but it's on back order and they may not get one for a year, but at least they guy suggested that I hunt around online and see if I can get one myself. During my hunt, I discovered MAKS website, where you can order a rebuild of your existing TIPM. So then I decided to hunt around to see if I could find a video to show me how to R&R mine so I don't have to get a mechanic involved at all. I found this video, completely independent of the website. I didn't even realize it was the same company until the end of the video.
    You guys should definitely link to this TH-cam video on your website. I'm pulling my TIPM and sending it to you TODAY to get it rebuilt. A rebuild (as of this post) only costs around $220, so I'm saving OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!
    Thank you guys, SO SO SO much!!!

    I did this after I was sure I had an internal ECU problem on my 2008 GC diesel. The jeep ran for about 5 seconds after I did a DPF delete and hot tune on it and then it died and would only turn over. I had all kinds of strange codes showing up all of a sudden. Then I found this video! You saved me loads of money! I can't thank you enough. I just have to figure out why I have red throttle warning light on now and no radio anymore, but, she runs again! What wasn’t addressed in this video, and the maker fails to mention, is what the actual failure was and WHY it was being replaced. I’ve seen do it yourselfers spend hundreds if not thousands, in wasted incorrect ‘diagnosis’ (guesswork or parts cannon), before actually fixing the correct cause of whatever issue(s) they were having. Yes, the physical aspects of changing this particular TIPM is easy, but tell me, what was the problem and was it fixed after replacing it?

    VIA email, I asked a support tech at Dorman if all relays soldiered into the board are replaced with new relays on their re-manufactured TIPMs. The response was 'the relays are checked for function and replaced if necessary, Capacitors are tested and solder replaced if necessary, these are also plug n play units and do not require dealer programming'. So the way I interpret this for my 2011 Ram 1500 is with the re-manufactured TIPM I am getting used relays and capacitors up to 9 years old on the re-manufactured unit if these happen to pass a function test. It seems the relays soldiered to the board are the 'weak links' in the OEM TIPM. Is there a company that provides all new relays soldiered on the board in a re-manufactured TIPM?

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no need for reprogramming these TIPMs. All you have to do is the 12 second reset done as so:
      1. Get in your vehicle.
      2. Put the key in the ignition.
      3. Set it to run mode(just short of cranking the vehicle) for 12 seconds ( gotta be fairly precise with this so have a stopwatch on hand)
      4. Turn off the vehicle.
      5. Turn it on until it cranks and starts and you're ready to go
      This will input your VIN into the TIPM. Let us know if you have any more questions.
      Have a good day!

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Abraham, no programming needed. All you have to do is a simple soft reset where you put the key into run mode for about 1 minute and then turn the vehicle off. Take the key out and then put the key in to start it up and you will be good to go!

    Ok so I connected the battery terminals together overnight after watching this video. I then watched the other one with the soft and hard reset instructions. Should I skip the 12 sec soft reset or do it anyway as I'm now set up for a hard reset?

      Hi David,
      While the 12 second reset is not required after a hard reset I would recommend doing the 12 second reset just to make sure everything is properly synced up. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact us anytime. Have a good day!

      For ANY intermittent electrical issues, it is always a good idea to remove and (properly) inspect the terminal connections, both for fitment and cleanliness/corrosion. There are tools made specifically for checking terminal tension, visual inspection is not always the most accurate.

If I just did that now and reconnected the battery a few hours later do you think that will fix the issue perhaps?

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Billy,
      A TIPM can cause your vehicle to kick itself into limp mode. I would recommend trying a hard reset ,but with a limp mode issue it may be best to swap the TIPM as it could be a faulty driver within the TIPM causing that issue. Are you experiencing anything else besides a limp mode issue? Please let us know or feel free to call us at 818-798-5558.

    I was wondering if you happen to know anything about doing the hard reset on a 2012 Chrysler 200. The battery placement makes for a very difficult experience to pull the leads off the battery. From what I understand, one needs to remove the front left wheel to be able to access the battery to pull the cables off. Unless you know of another way to disconnect the battery?

    Hi, thanks for the video. If you’re still checking questions, wondering if it’s necessary to replace the whole fuse block if it’s loose. Was having electrical trouble with my 2017 gmc terrain, the positive terminal (bolt) used to boost the battery was loose and had melted the plastic of the red cap. The mechanic removed the loose bolt, cleaned it, the tightened it back in place. But said that the whole fuse block was loose which may have caused the bolt to come loose. He said it shouldn’t move, and if it was his car he would replace it. Cost to be around $200-$300. Is there no after market bracket I could use to secure it? Thanks.

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David,
      I believe it is the same TIPM for demonstration purposes. I believe with the PCM you would have to get that unit flashed ,but with the TIPM there should be no need to. You should be able to just install that unit and do a 12 second reset and it should work just fine for your vehicle. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us anytime. Had to remove from wife's 08 Chrysler T&C (basically same TIPM) due to the relays inside the module going bad (van acted possessed, horn going off, wipers running, key not even in the car). Got all 7 (3 singles, 4 doubles) for $37 overnight from Mouser Electronics, took me about 2 hours to replace them on the PCB inside).
    When I reinstalled the TIPM in the van, everything seemed to work, except the starter wont kick in now. Dash/lights/radio goes off like normal when trying to start, but no clicks or anything to fire the starter. Starter worked fine before I removed the TIPM. Any suggestions?

    Hi Mak. I read all of these posts. I have an 09 Avenger. My issue is, the alarm system causes the horn to go off randomly. They only way I get the honking to stop is to put the key into the ignition and started the car. Then I shut it off and it stops honking. The horn does not work. I read in another forum that my issue seems to be the TIPM. any chance that this is correct? I have no problem paying you for the part. Just want to make the right decision. Thank you for your time and excellent video (I do all my own repairs!).

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      A horn issue is tricky to go off on alone as a horn related issue can point to something else such as a short somewhere on the vehicle. Especially in these 09 Avengers as they are common to short themselves out. Besides that it still could be a TIPM related issue it is just tricky to go based off one symptom. Feel free to give us a call if you want to try out a TIPM.
      Have a good day!

    So removing the TIPM is not resetting it? So a Hard reset is putting the neg and pos cables together for a period of time ..How do you know if your Tipm is bad? I just pulled mine on a 2010 ram your Video is awesome took me literally five min. So I just start looking for a new one?

    • @TIPMRebuilders
      @TIPMRebuilders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ben,
      That is correct. Simply removing the TIPM is not a hard reset. It would be tricky to determine if the TIPM is bad without taking it apart and running some tests. We do have a tester in our facility here that can essentially scan the TIPM for any possible issues. Feel free to give us a call if you have any more questions. Have a good day!

    Whats up brother Mac. I love your videos going back several years of driving the old metal hemi era of the full body Durangos. Now I have a Chrysler Aspen thats basically the same thing, to which, I've lost all power. First my alarm didnt recognize the fob and then I lost ALL power. It briefly came back on after a hard reset of the tipm , as well as, changing the battery terminals. "No fuse" displayed on the dashboard cluster, + no radio, no lights of any kind, no blowers, [etc] briefly, before cutting back off. All of which seemed to indicate the IOD was bad. So I checked the IOD and it was indeed beyond caked with corrosion. I attempted to spray it with electrical contact cleaner but no dice. I still have absolutely no power of any kind. You got any advise Mac?? PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!!!!!!

      Hi,
      TIPM stands for Totally Integrated Power Module. These units are utilized in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles starting as early as 2002 and some current gen vehicles still use them to this day.
