I started paying off my student loan debt all thanks to Dave! I feel so proud of myself for just doing the thing. So grateful for the debt snowball method and the baby steps method.
To the 23 boy calling at the end - you do not have to hire a nurse. It can be a teacher who just retired, it can be a ukrainian refugee lady who got asylum and work permit. There can be two ladies changing month for a month, so that they also could have some freedom. They stay 24/6 and you come for one day. Weekly the cost is around a 1000$ (depending on duties, background etc). I have three women form Ukraine who look after my grandma (over 90yo), they come in exchange every month, they all retired, one was a nurse, another was a preschool teacher and the third was a cook at a school canteen back in their country.
Dave!! If you’re not going to say it then I will! 🎵 “Where debt is dumb, cash is king, and the paid off home mortgage has taken the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice!”🎶 -Now that is the Real Dave Ramsey.❤
Dave stopped this when the focus of the show became more than just solving financial problems. Now they are doing career advice and addressing mental health problems - and often, in the case of the latter, making pronouncements in sound bites for problems that are complex and need far more attention than a radio call-in show can give. In doing so, they have lost some of their original audience but gained others. It's pretty clear now that having all these hosts rotating through is also to expose them to the general public who are then attracted to listening to the individual shows of the co-hosts. (I don't know if those are under the Ramsey umbrella or not.) Whether the decision to move away from only financial advice has been a good decision or not, only the future will tell.

Buyers need to be very careful with an HOA and their requirements. Just today someone on the neighborhood site is stating that their HOA provides the mulch for all the homes and the person putting it down has refused to listen to the homeowner NOT to put the mulch right up against the foundation of the house. As a result, he has termites because mulch should always be at least 6 inches from the house and no deeper than 3 inches (including older mulch.) Now he has to get a lawyer to sue for the extensive termite damage. If a HOA is involved, every sentence should be read and researched by the homeowner.

Yes, Patrick - but the reason is this: The last job a parent has is to make sure their kids can survive without them. If you keep supporting them and the extras, that time will not come. So - explain that it's important to you to make sure that they have learned the tools to survive financially after you're gone. And they should not be counting on your resources which can evaporate very quickly. (My father-in-law burned through 1.5 million in the last years of his life because he wanted to stay in his home and needed round the clock care. Spent it all, but it was his to spend.) There's a great line in the movie Fat Man Little Boy spoken by Paul Newman who is General Groves: "You build to a moment and then you seize it, or it will go right by you." Now, you're not building the atomic bomb, but your retirement IS the natural moment to make a change and get the freeloaders used to paying ALL their bills.
My first car when I graduated from college was a 6 year old 1964 Chevy Belair. My Nana wanted a new car so I bought her Belair for $300. My salary as a first year teacher was $6600. I was fortunate. Then I had enough time to save and pay cash for my second car. My parents and grandparents were thrifty so I grew up being thrifty.
Electrical apprentices can make more than $43,000 a year, depending on what field you're in. This lady doesn't know what she's talking about. Also, you get paid to learn on the job. And then you become a journeyman and then you make even more money than that. And like usual, John's chiming in when not listening to the lady on the phone, she literally said he's coming home to help her because she's so stressed out with six kids. He's obviously trying to help her out.
This is the time when a lot of people find they still owe something to the IRS. Since the Ramsey people say to cut up the credit cards, what do they advise for a young family who is just on baby step 2 and has almost no resources? I know they tell people to not go into debt further, and also to pay the IRS first - but I've never heard them tell someone how to handle this. Loan? Payment plan with the IRS?
I have heard Dave say to get a loan at a credit union if your credit score isn't trashed (if it's trashed, no institution will loan you money). His reasoning is it's better to take out a loan than be in debt to the IRS.
@@bettedavis9261 True and common sense, but that advice does go against their preaching never to go into any more debt. Sometimes people just have to in certain situations, especially when young with little income - IRS, medical debt, etc. And, again, this points out the reality that a good credit score , rather than the recommended "0", is sometimes valuable to have!
@@Trustbutverify2651 I agree 100% with what you said. I have actually heard Dave say to several people who have IRS debt to take out a loan with a credit union, because it's better than owing money to the IRS. No, it's not something he usually advises.
Some people can’t take hard talk, they turn around and say much as you are right you said it in a way that was hurtful and so they reject the advice, and continue down the wrong road. It is personality I guess, how do you help them get past how what was said offends them to actually just taking the advice

For someone who complains about how much they "give" the government in taxes, he sure forgets about them when chastising people based on their gross income.
Exactly! He seems to think if you make $80k gross, you should be able to pay off $50k or so a year. Of course, if you're making $80k gross, you're probably only coming home with about $56k. After paying off &50k, that leaves $6k a year to live on ($500/month). Not very realistic.
I’m in baby step 2. Got my $1,000 set aside. Next day, the garage door spring breaks and my wife hits a pothole that destroys my tire. That’s what I get for saving up $1,000. 😅 Back to baby step 1.
I empathize with your frustration sincerely but just remember you'll get Beyond baby step one again and eventually Murphy's going to leave you alone long enough if you stay committed enough to following the baby steps
At least you have that one thousand dollars to help with those emergencies. I had emergency surgery in January. When I left the hospital I was told I would save $300 if I paid for all of my out of pocket expenses before I left. All of my out-of-pocket expenses = $3,000. My surgery was $50,000. I had the money in my emergency fund. I saved $300 but now I'm back to beans and rice so I can put back that money in my full emergency fund. I'm so thankful that I had the money in the bank. I know it is so hard at first to realize that you had the money and didn't have to put it on a credit card or borrow money from friends or family. Hang in there, you can do this!
They should have gotten into the costs of the trip. Driving is way too much, but if the plane ticket was less than a thousand and he didn’t have to pay for hotel then he should prioritize his friend. Dave and John kinda bullied him into saying it was too far

Yes. FL allows. 25% garnishment of Salary and Bank account, until the debt is paid in full.
Have husband get a second job and cut up credit cards
What it comes down to is whether you want to look rich or BE rich.

They qualify for welfare, and have an autistic kid, the kid would qualify for social security.
Not the answer, but a huge help in their position.
Thank you! 🇺🇸 proud patriot
7:47 background music should be called “Gazelle Now”
I support Ramsey, but Dave and John are having a mind-reading contest 🤪 The egos of trying to impress one another
After gas and wear and tear on your vehicle door dash is not worth it
Can the Ramsey team make us a GIF of Dave saying, “Boy your house is a piece of crap.”
Please and thank you
Yesss Choose your hard! 📢 📢 📢
Hard is better than soft
I just wanna shout out Dave’s tan because it’s fantastic. Looking like an island boy.
I don’t understand why poor people have so many kids and cry they can’t afford them. Sell the kids!
Les Brown had some amazing speeches.
"Can I ask you a question?" Every time John starts talking I cringe. The psychological analysis is so bad😂
Love dr. Deloney
Some people can’t take hard talk, they turn around and say much as you are right you said it in a way that was hurtful and so they reject the advice, and continue down the wrong road. It is personality I guess, how do you help them get past how what was said offends them to actually just taking the advice
6 kids, 45k per year and husband wants to stay home more
Our pets heads are falling off 🤣 1:09:35
I laugh every time he says it. Poor Petey
Love your hard ❤and now my wife has a big smile on her face 😂
Being hard makes your wife smile?
And you give great advice 🤩🤩🤩

1:40 Can this curriculum for high schools be taught in a single home? Has anyone done that?
There is a homeschool program you can purchase as well
1:59:27 to 1:59:33 um Dave
..apparently you haven't done your research on Central Mississippi area nursing homes because yes every single one of them mistreat the elderly the one located behind a fire station on Lakeland Drive AKA Highway 25 at the edge of Flowood almost going into Jackson or either injection I forget which killed my grandmother via neglect she developed anal ulcers and other disease in flaming illnesses because they refused to change her diaper when she was suffering from Hardcore Parkinson's and Alzheimer's from light 2012 going into up until July 3rd 2013 when she died
NO ONE KEEPS THEIR PARENTS HOME ANYMORE!😡
For extra cash I donate Plasma and earn and extra $500 bucks a month. For about 1.5hrs of my time.
That might be the exact case math for math if all your accounting for is just your time when you're sitting in the chair or lying down on the bed and they're taking your plasma but you're not factoring in the waiting time at whatever clinic or Hospital you're at as well as your fuel costs getting to and from that location and back home let alone the vehicle insurance yearly tag involved etcetera etcetera
I’m 64 retired. I have 1.25 million invested in a diverse stock market, 10k in checking, 30k in C.D.’s, 10k in savings account and I don’t own a home. Should I buy a home or rent ? If you recommend I buy, should I finance ?
By the way, no debt
Buy a small home with cash. It is still an investment.
If I were in your shoes, I would either buy a small home in a nice community, or a townhome.
If it were me, I would buy a modest home that suits my needs, and I would pay cash. With $1.25 mil and over 59 1/2 years old , there would be no penalties, so yeah, I' d pay cash. Good luck😊
@@katherinefellman9676 I bought a home for 620k. So now I can live off the interest of my investments and will probably file for social security in March at 64 and a half.
I watch these videos for the training knowledge but the best part was the tortilla wars!😅
The irs will probably put a lien on that house she owes almost 300k, how have they not placed a lien yet ?
The couple with the six kids...I don't think it was fair to throw that all on the husband. She clearly said when he did more work or might travel, she did not have enough help with the kids. I think she needs to not count on him for kid help much at all, and needs to find that elsewhere in her community. Pulling the guy both ways is so unfair.
Dave’s crack me up with how he sells his house 😂
Dom, you need a break little brother and some community.
I understand how that guy feels about his wife’s car. My wife drives a new BMW and I drive a 15 year old suv.
Ha, ha, in our house, my husband gets the nicer car because it's more important to him.
@@bettedavis9261 I sold my nice car 5 years ago to buy the house and she gets a new lease every 3 years. By nice it was at the time still a 12 year old corvette.
@@JD78CNcurrently, we both have nice cars. He's got a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, and I have a 2021 Honda Accord (purchased about 3 months apart with cash). First time in 30 years my car was as nice as his.😉😂
@bettedavis9261 same for us
How can it be hard to do those things? Poor people, homeless people and welfare people do without those things for years. Yet Americans think they're lazy and living high on the hog...that they're doing well. Somehow that sounds contradictory.
What am I missing about HOA fees where the $350 increase is a worse option than buying a house? The fees are paid monthly right?
They had consumer debt.
Should i buy papa johns or dominos pizza?
I thought Dave was against Term life insurance but now he is selling it? Am I mistaken?
He’s against whole life. Which is trash
Yes you are. He is again whole life policies because they are trash.
Research is not a waste of time. But get the right sources.
She wants him home though! If he is going to be the sole provider then she needs to be the sole caretaker. He can't provide if you whine about him not being home!
6 kids and wants to know how to make more money? Did nobody tell you how expensive having six kids is?
West palm to ny is not just a little drive. I agree with jeremy its too much
They should have gotten into the costs of the trip. Driving is way too much, but if the plane ticket was less than a thousand and he didn’t have to pay for hotel then he should prioritize his friend. Dave and John kinda bullied him into saying it was too far
The wedding isn't until July. He just doesn't want to attend. lol
Dace are you sure you aren't Nigerian because you sound a lot like our Nigerian parents with your deal-with-it feedbacks.

Why are referring to Covid as Faucci pandemic???
Good question, as far as I can tell it’s to incite hatred towards a man who has already had death threats for doing his job in a worldwide pandemic based on WHO guidelines. Not very becoming of Dave.
John, wasnt very nice of you to tell a caller “You tell us!” right off the bat. Isn’t the purpose of this show to help people with their financial questions? That’s why your listeners listen and your callers, call.
I didn’t think it was that big of a deal lol. Not like he was being mean. He could tell these people knew their finances
