INDIANS ALL DAY LONG OH YEAHHHHHH I OWN THE SCOUT 60 2021 and I love my bike, mind you that I am 74yrs old and have owned many different models in my lifetime and INDIAN takes them all. comfort, maneuverability, and a low profile so many shorter riders can enjoy them too. ride safe and happy trails to all!
Great video ABUSA. As you know I ride a 2016 Scout. I have to totally agree with your assessment on the reliability, fun factor and handling with it. The only problem I've encountered was the rear ABS sensor went out. I've put 13k and counting on her in 11 months. Every time I ride, it puts a smile on my face. Carving the back roads is a blast. I love my Scout! Where ever your travels take you, ride and stay safe ABUSA!
Nicely done. I bought my 1st HD in 1975 and have owned a few more since then. Bought my 1st Indian new last year (standard Scout 69ci). I can truthfully say that none of the other comparable bikes I owned came close to the Scout. Top end, off the line, or just plain a joy to ride. It's also great to see a review on a regular Scout for a change. Seems like everyone goes for the bobber version. I only have about 5000 on mine from last season, but have not had it back to dealer, except for the 500 mile check-up. Mine too is mostly stock, with sissy bar, modified exhaust, and a few leather tool bags. Just got it out of cryogenic sleep for the year, (WI) and it fired right up. Probably be my last bike, but I plan on enjoying it every chance I get. Thanks for the vid. Mike
I just got an Indian scout 60 2021 last December and I will ride it till the end. I am 74yrs old and I have been on many bikes in my lifetime, but this one is the best! Be safe and ride on!
I have the same bike. Your review is bang on. My starter crapped out early on too. Fixed under warranty. No issues with the shifter ratchet assembly but I did have the clutch cable snap at 4000 Km. I replaced it with a Barnett cable but I discovered the real problem was with the casting of the clutch lever in that the slot for the cable was not aligned with the centre of the hole the barrel fits into. A little work with a skinny file fixed that and no other issues yet at 24,000 km. I too replaced the stock bars but with pullback bars and the stock seat, which was pure pain, with the Mustang solo. World of difference in comfort for long distance rides. Looks like you have a non OEM fly screen as I do. A Dart in my case. Same Dean Speed sissy bar. Unlike you I have a full exhaust, an S&S intake and a tune on a dyno. Waste of money really. The beast has more power now than I'm brave enough to use. So we think alike. Reliable and an absolute blast to ride. My only complaint is the obscene amount of money Indian thinks they can charge for accessories. In my case they can't. I take my business to the aftermarket. Ride safe.
that's awesome !!!!!! i thought about a full exhaust and tune but stock it really is plenty lol but would be fun to feel how much more pep a tune and exhaust would provide thanks for watching !
That right there combined with a many others I've heard and spoke with in person is a real testament to the reliability of Indian! Looks like I'll be following through with the purchase of the Springfield in the very near future....warmer weather! Can't forsee myself buying one to sit until spring thaw
Sold a 2020 Harley Sportglide and bought a 2021 Scout 60 about 6 weeks ago, liking it so far. Not sure if all years do this but saw a video last week and tried this and it works, I started my bike like I always have and how you did in the video but if you just push the start button and release it keeps starting and cranks.
had a 2019 Bobber rode that thing to MS from WI had a blast, never had a a problem with it, only wish it had a fuel gauge. have sense sold it and bought a 2021 Vintage Dark Horse.
Hello ABUSA. I just had an issue with my 2017 Scout. There is a six pin electrical connector under the rear fender which is held in place with a ten cent plastic clip. Under the right combination of bumps on rough pavement the connector can get free from the clip and fall down onto the rear tire and get eaten, which in my case it did. Just the male half of the connector got chewed up. The female half was fine. Indians solution was to try to sell me a new tail light assembly which has the male half of the connector hardwired to it. $422 CAD plus $34 shipping over a five dollar connector? You can imagine my reaction to that! I found a six pin connector on Amazon and wired both halves in. Now here's where it gets interesting. There is wiring diagram in the service manual of what's what with the wires into the connector but no diagram on what's what on the other side of the connector and the wires out are different colours. Worse yet there are two wires into the connector the same colour. Brown with a yellow stripe. Doubly worse is a warning that reverse polarity into the LED tail or brake light will fry it. Did I get it right? Yes. Eventually! Took all day. Did I fry anything during this trial and error ordeal? No. But let's bear in mind I have walked away from four plane crashes and swam away from a fifth and am a very lucky guy. You or any other Scout owner reading this might not be so lucky, So save yourself the mental trauma. Reach under the fender, grab the connector and wiggle it. Bounce it around. Be patient. Imagine the jostling it'll take as you rack up the miles as you ride your Scout around the U.S, Canada, Europe, Africa, Australia or anywhere else your adventurous spirit may take you. And then it'll pop free and you'll have the problem in your hand. You also have a solution near at hand. Take a zap strap and run it under the 10 cent plastic clip. Slide the connector onto the clip. Come over top of the connector with the strap and cinch the connector tightly onto the clip. Now it can't get free; ever. And anyone reading this should share this info any way you can cause, believe me, running one preventative zap strap is another world of simple relative to replacing a damaged connector or buying an outrageously expensive tail light assembly. Ride Safe.
wow! you need to write a book! 5 plane crashes?????? lucky ? playing the lottery? lol great info by you! thanks for sharing! good to know ! 👍🏼 keep that luck alive ! 😎
I have the same identical bike I never had an issue with it. I added a lot of aftermarket parts it’s the perfect bike. Never disappoints me I also have a 16-year-old Yamaha V star Silverado which never let me down. I’m an older guy I wanted something lighter. The Indian scout is perfect it’s a lot of fun.
I also have a Dart Marlin fly screen on mine. I am 5.40 ft. Works great for me. Hardly any wind on my chest and some on my head. Perfect for me. How do you like it?
I have a ‘16 Scout. Had some oddball issues with mine. Had to have front master cylinder rebuilt twice, I had a stator plug go out and leak oil, I had to have all my coolant hoses replaced. Thankfully, they were all covered under the extended warranty. I had fork seals go out that weren’t covered under warranty, but I used that as an excuse to upgrade to progressive springs!!!
Thankfully, I haven’t had any issues in a couple years (knocking on wood as I type), and despite all that, I still recommend the Scout to anyone, because it is SO FUN TO RIDE!!!!
They are nice little bikes I like that color blue I have a Chevy pickup it's about that color. The gas tank could be a little bigger but it's really no big deal like you said you're going to get off once in awhile. The only time it might be a real problem is out west in the wide open space. And there's ways to deal with that too. Ride safe.
Been thinking about one.. good review, makes me more interested. Your one looks great with the wire spokes and white walls and slip-ons. The stock pipes look awful to me, too big and clunky. Gonna put some miles on a friend's one since he is unable to ride at the mo and wants to get it thru the break in period so he can get his new pipes put on. Good to hear that the suspension is not all that bad for you, I'm about the same weight. Lots of folks moan about the shocks. You didn't mention breaking ability but again can't be too bad or you would have. Choice review mate, thanks. Great looking bike, I'd like one that looks like that.
thanks! Breaking is just fine, no issues mate overall the bike is just pure fun for a great price never regretted buying it once ! would buy it again tomorrow! and every time i go out people comment on it's looks...... best of luck with your decision 👍🏼
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA yeah I reckon its the one. Been real keen on a speed twin for a while, got a bit of a thing for trumpies. But I want to be able to do long rides in comfort with a pillion and still have some fun. Scout seems like the perfect mix. And less expensive for sure, but with a better seat and luggage stuff it will probably work out much the same here in NZ. Reckon I'd go for the rogue, I like the bigger front wheel and the mini apes and screen come stock. Thanks for the reply. 😃
