Oh my, finally you did a review of this car! I have the pre-order edition 2015. Other than the tiny infotainment system, everything is perfect. Been 15k+ miles and I have zero complain. This is the best all-round car you can get today, no doubt.

I like the push button if it's keyless entry/smart-key access also, like on the Golf R. Keys just stay in your pocket.

This is one of my favourite cars! Not a Ferrari, lamborghini anything like this lol just a £30,000 Volkswagen Golf R but would definitely have to have the DSG version no doubt about that the thing that does it for me with the Golf R is the sharp looks! Quad exhausts, and the beautiful sound that they make!

Great review, Kyle. I have the lo-line 16 R DSG and couldn't afford the hi-line. Have you driven borh versions in race mode and compared them? I think (?) that the DCC on the hi-line realistically only brings the comfort mode to bear and that they're both as firm / similar handling in race mode--other than the 18" vs 19" rim disparities.

I just had a new baby girl and you giving me the idea of what car I should get with a new baby as she grow. My favorite video is the "Make A Wish" video you did. It was amazing and had a tear in my eye for a moment amazing thing you did. If I talk cars I always bring up your videos or TH-cam username for people to watch you. Keep doing the videos. I even watch cars I can't buy just to see the features and specs. Of cars. One day I'll will get one lol. One request please do the 2017 Rolls Royce all models please

Kyle, great video, love this car! However, this is a 2016 and I know that because of the wheels and for 2017 there is only one trim for the Golf R and it has the DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control), Navigation, and other features like Adaptive Cruise Control and blind spot warning as standard. The 2016 had two different trims in which all the options that are now standard on the single trim 2017 were optional. Only reason I mention this is because in the title you wrote "2016/2017".
Ah, never mind I see you addressed the 2017 as well, they are exactly alike aside from wheels, trims, and cost.

It seems like only US VWs have that issue. In the Europe they seem very reliable, but can be expensive when something does go wrong...
If you start it wrong the check engine will light up
If you just press the start button it will start and you get the check engine light, if you press down the brake pedal and press the start button you won't get the check engine light.
TankyTanky Does the Check Engine light not come on as normal as parts of the start up checks and then go away once the car is actually turned on and running?
***** I got the GTE so might be different :P I didn't understand anything when i turned it on for the first time, but that was the problem ^
No lie. The Golfs are looking extremely cool looking. Lately, I'm starting to see them more often. Looks like it have equal the amount of grip, comfort, and stability as a Jeep Renegade.

Very interesting, looks like "comfort" mode is only available on R's with DCC. I think the car really needs it to make it an all around package.
zed4me my favorite setting is in individual with suspension in comfort, steering and engine in sport.
The focus RS is a sweet car but the interior on the Golf R just looks so much better.

Waiting for my GTI Clubsport to be delivered (290 hp on overboost & sends 100% of power to front wheels). Im from Sweden & sadly you cant buy this model in the states. Its a great deal at the same price as the regular GTI. But either way, you can get GTI Performance or R. Also dont forget their very tunable.. ;)
please do a Nissan c11 tiida. there are a few reviews on them but none like a saabkyle04 review. the car doesn't have much on it so to make video a little better u can throw in the new generation tiida/versa.

I have a 2017 Golf R. But I only have 2,000 miles on it and it possibly needs a new engine....Other than that, I had a blast in the 2,000 miles I put on it. Spacious, good on fuel, awesome sound system, amazing features with the tech package, and just a blast to drive. Can't wait for it to be back :(

Why does it need a new engine? what did VW tell you?
I guess I got a lemon. Broke it in gently, drove it mostly on the highway. It's just randomly misfiring and they've replaced tons of parts and it's not reacting at all. Still have a base model rental Cruze instead of my R and I miss it a TON
Did they check the pcv valve? Mine caused all sorts of misfires and lean states

I LOVE my '15 R. The only complaint I have is I'm pretty sure they put the paint on with a marker. The smallest rock tends to chip the paint.
AversaS True. When you test the paint thickness with a paint gauge, the gauge thinks the car has no paint lol.

There is actually an estate version of the Golf R but that isn't sold in North America, I wonder why?
Maybe it could be because of a lack of demand for high performance estate cars (or station wagons if you're American) in the US?

While running the car, there is a sound from the exhaust that sounds like a tractor, it must be in sport mode in 0:57

UK... Britan does have more taxes and, insurance regulations priced on your car's engine size or max killowatt.. And smaller roads with hedgerows:) So , mabee look at something small like Mini-Cooper up to a used mercedees C class. or a better bet would be a nice Opal / Vauxhall Mokka from 2013.

iEatPusiLikeiHaveaDisease it was worth it to me. if u go fully loaded on GTI the difference to a loaded R is 4-5 k . if u get a GTI I'd get a s model with cloth seats and the performance pack . then u'd have a value.
