    During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
    FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth educational videos of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of TH-cam!

      @@jakewhite3163 true, but if you look for nationwide offers you can sometimes find someone selling one. I just bought my 2015 manual Golf Sportwagen TDI with 64k miles. It doesn't have the panoramic sunroof (it's an S not SE or SEL), but I don't mind, it's just going to cause more problems in the future. Got it for about $16.5k

    This is a quality, refined, well made, ingenious automobile and it deserves praise. It's great to know that VW Golfs hold their reputation ever since the mark 1. Very good cars and they always will be, I have massive faith in VW for any of their cars including Audi and Skoda.

    Fun Fact: All diesels have governors while not moving. This specific one will not rev over 2500 rpm to allow for testing under a load when needed. you are able to just sit there with your foot on the gas without damaging the engine. Good Job on the video and keep it up!

    No offence:
    When people see car interiors:
    When Americans see the inside of European cars, "Wow, this is SO small!"
    When Europeans see the inside of American cars, "WOW THIS IS BIGGER THAN SPACE!"
    No offence, it's just that Americans have kinda big cars...

    When you enjoyed driving this 150hp-version, you'll happy to hear that the GTD-version (184 hp), known from the hatchback, will also come for the SportWagen (and a R-version with 300 hp will come out soon, too).
    In europe, it is able to rather purchase the "Skoda Octavia Combi" or the "Seat Leon ST" (both VAG-products, based on the Golf).
    In my opinion both have got a more polished and sportier design.
    The Octavia has got a little bit increased practicability because there is more room in the back and offers smart solutions and gimmicks for its driver, e.g. in the gas cap you can find an ice scraper..
    The Seat then has a more aggressive look, attracts a younger audience.
    There are also "sport versions" of both cars: The Rs for the Octavia (184hp 2.0 TDI or 220hp 2.0 TSI) and the Cupra (265 hp or 280hp 2.0 TSI-engines) for the Leon.
    The price for the Cupra with 265hp starts with about 30.000€ which is really good compared to a GTi that has 35hp less.

    Well rounded review! I actually just purchased one of these 2 days ago! It has been sitting on the dealership lot for 2 years awaiting the software approval for the emissions fix. Got a $5000 rebate from VW and 0% financing for 72 months! Its an awesome car, however, I wonder how much the software update has affected the vehicles performance? Would love to see a side by side comparison of two cars, one with the update and on without. I have driven my car about 300 miles in the last 2 days and am averaging 48.3mpg! It's a shame that the dieselgate scandal took place, I am truly going to miss VW diesels in the United States!

    Great review, thank you. My wife's 2015 Sportswagen TDI is almost as much fun to drive as my 2014 Audi Q5 TFSI. And added bonus is the TDI averages about twice the mileage of the Q5 - about 5.5 litres per 100 km. (50 mpg). Not bad for a car that costs half as much as the Q5 and is better for the environment.

    As someone who is used to the 2.0 TDIs in Europe I thought that the engine noise is pretty noticeable. So I started a little investigation:
    Cetane in diesel is like octane in standard gas. In simplified terms it has the same influence on running smoothness and so on. The ultra-low sulfur diesel in the US was established in 2005 and has to have at least 40 cetane (ASTM D 975) while Europe requires at least 51 cetane since 2001 (Euro3).

My one complaint is that someone at Volkswagen thought the black plastic trim on the inside of the SEL was *more* upscale than the faux brushed aluminum on the SE; I'd have rather had the brushed aluminum look.

    I recently bought the base "S" trim level TSI. I needed a new car pretty fast and was able to get one. I think it handles well and it fits my needs at the moment--running errands in the heat. including taking the dogs to the vet. The air conditioning seems great! However, at this point I don't know if I would find it comfortable for a road trip. I think the seats don't have enough padding in the bottom, and I was uncomfortable after an afternoon of running errands. Although your review is for the TDI, I think the TSI and TDI at all trim levels are supposed to have the same interiors including the seats.

      Gerry Keyser For some reason, it seems my camera switched itself to 30fps. I've never used that before, always defaulted to 24 fps! I agree though, it looks awesome!

    Walking around on the dutch version of Geneva last week (autoRAI it's called), I concluded that the current VW Golf is a very good car. I sat in a lot of cars made by other companies and their interior space and cabin quality just could not match. I also daily drive a Golf mark 7 and it drives well too. It is just a very good car. Not saying it is exciting.

    Thorough and very well done review! you are very fortunate to be able to take it on such a long road trip but I wish you would have let us know what kind of fuel economy you achieved. doesn't the S model have the push to start keyless go as well? You were very good to mention the keyless entry and lock of which I was unaware but does the s have that as well? I love a good exhaust clip... From a V8. Revving the piss out of that little TDI went on entirely too long though. Maybe two revs, 2 seconds, move on. Keep up the good work!

    The most european Volksawgen in ´merica right there. I like that VW offers this Diesel Wagon even with a manual in the US. This car makes a perfect daily, save gas money for the V8 :)
    I noticed that this version doent get the the electric parking brake from european models, some hate it some like it. Also this Golf comes with AdBlue injection and gets the cheaper real axle for the big diesel.
    Now they should build the Passat Variant in the US :)

    They should remove this from the Golf line up. The golf is already a hatchback. VW should replace this with a Passat wagon.

      HodsBroo In Germany we've got both the Golf Variant (wagon) and the Passat Variant (wagon). The Golf Variant is aimed at those who need a wagon for their family and maybe hauling a little cargo around while on a relatively tight budget. The Passat Variant is more of a luxury car here and is usually driven by businessmen as a company vehicle.

    Really great to see a Review of a normal and usuable car.
    But:
    1. Please learn how to shift a TDI. You usually dont go higher than 2500 upm.
    2. This Golf does Not have LED-headlamps as you are telling. These are xenons.
    Still a great Clip!

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrPummi88 I caught the LED part later but it wasn't worth fixing the clip. I clarified Bi-HIDs during the walk around. Regarding how to drive a diesel, I wasn't aware of these things, nothing wrong with testing it at different RPMs, how else will I learn? lol. That's the thing about doing this all by myself, no one to collaborate with. Thanks for the feedback!

    So.. is the 2015 GOLF Sportwagen S TDi "equal to" or "better than" the previous years 2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDi? I need a diesel wagon for a delivery contract and have narrowed it down between these 2 at the dealer. I need to make this decision within a week. They both are used (obviously) and both have 11,xxx miles. The 2015 is $16k the 2014 is $15k. This contract requires 250 miles driven 6 days a week. What do you guys think?

    • @jakobbecker6435
      @jakobbecker6435 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What did you end up getting?

    • @Spectt84
      @Spectt84 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakobbecker6435 ...lol neither! After digging deep into their long-term reliability and considering me needing to drive 1500+ miles a week, I chickened out. That gas mileage would have been great but the repair bills would have been brutal. I got a 2017 Toyota Tacoma SR with the little reliable 4 cylinder engine instead. I've done almost 40k in the truck so far and not so much as a hiccup. The MPG could be better...I get about 23 mpg. I still may get a wagon for the wife, she needs a new vehicle. That way I can swap into her car occasionally for some awesome fuel mileage...

    • @jakobbecker6435
      @jakobbecker6435 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Spectt84 haha yea the Tacoma’s are nice trucks but mpg isn’t the greatest. The 2015s are the most reliable in stock form and have an awesome warranty. 11yrs or 162k miles from the original date it was sold new, and if it’s ever in the shop under warranty work they have to give you a loaner if it’s longer than 3 hours. My dad drives a 15 Passat tdi 6m and i drive a 15 a3 tdi. They get awesome economy on the highway and haven’t really had any issues in the a3 yet. The Passat had a leaky camshaft seal but that was covered under warranty.
