The caravan looks as good as new. A great buy I reckon, and you've bought it for all the right reasons. I owned a Jayco Journey Outback of a similar vintage (2018). Sold it for a flasher, more serious off-road caravan to do the Gibb River Rd and the Great Central Rd. I've had far more trouble with the flash caravan than I ever did with the Journey. I saw lots of Jayco's on that trip. I would go back to another Jayco Journey Outback without hesitation. The J-Tech 2 suspension is very good. I took a Jayco Camper Trailer with J-Tech suspension up to Cape York without incident, despite the naysayers. Nothing wrong with Jayco. if you are going to fit stuff on the back bumper, make sure it doesn't hang below your bumper as the departure angle will be compromised more than you'd think. Other than that, enjoy!
Hi Buck, just found your channel as we bought a 2016 outback the same as yours in January. We have the double bed but virtually the same. Being a 8 year old van any thing to go wrong would have gone wrong and fixed. Done a few small trips so far and can not fault it for the value. The convenience of separate toilet shower is what sold us on it. Enjoy 😊
Great choice Buck! We are on our third Jayco and absolutely no complaints. The single beds give more space and make it much easier to raise the pop-top. You don’t miss what you’ve never had, but the separate toilet and shower is a game changer! Check if your rear bar extends at all - our 2017 Starcraft Outback has multiple holes to adjust rear bar. Enjoy!
Congratulations Buck & Ros. We think it looks beautiful and it is beaut that you got a caravan again and that you got one you both are happy with. Having the extra space and the bathroom is definitely a game changer. We totally understand going from our 13ft to our 19'8 caravan. Hopefully when you are back on the road we can try and catch up again. 🙂 We should have our set up all sorted ready to do some travelling next year. Miss you guys. Love Tanya and Jason
Well done Buck, great looking van. We have Jayco same year, serves us well. You won’t regret it. Suggest with your mods consider seriously the Thetford C260 Electric Ventilator Kit For Cassette Toilet. 93417. It is a toilet ventilation system made by Thetford themselves to specifically suit your toilet that eliminates odour, reduces chemical use and makes the whole van toilet experience much, much better. There are many after market ones that do similar, no..go for the original Thetford one that is built in and suits your specific toilet. It works like a dream. Also if coming down south, fit a cheap diesel heater or work out how to use your own to provide heat. Better than the aircon and works off grid. Keep up the good work, look forward to many more Caravanning and cooking videos. Cheers FrankN
Congratulations Buck ! Just a thought, don’t know if you’re interested , or if you have one. We have an Aussie Traveller ant-flap kit for our Jayco caravan, and we use it every time we set up. It attaches to the sides of your awning and is great for when there are windy days.. enjoy. Kev & Carol
Hi Bucks, love the van. We used to have a Jayco outback and still have regrets selling it. We removed the beige curtains as we only ever shut the roll up blinds.
Congratulations on the new van guys. Looks like a great layout. We absolutely loved our old jayco and it handled everything we put it through including a cape trip and aplenty of outback dirt roads. Wishing you many happy years of caravanning with the new van.
Buck you don’t need to justify your wants mate. Do what you please. I will just look forward to seeing your next lot of videos mate. Keep doing you and enjoy life pal.
Love, Love, Love the van Buck, Ros and Rafa. Tom really likes the tandem wheels. I love the layout..What luxury to have a separate shower and loo. Rafa is going to love his spot. It all makes sense. I cant wait to see your first trip and see what you all think. Well done! ❤️🐕❤️❤️🇦🇺🦘
Well done Buck! 🍻 We've had our "1st" caravan for 3 years now (new) and while we had some issues, we've fixed them and modified it to suit us. You definitely went down the right path buying a 2nd hand Jayco! A mate (who has a top spec Zone) and I were talking about how, if we had our time again, would've bought a Jayco knowing what we know now. Value for money 👌 I found the caravaning thing a bit to get used to....ya can't just send it down a track, without thinking about it, but I love it now. Everything is a compromise and you can still go camping with swags if ya want, best of both worlds eh. 🍻👍🍻
Great setup - hope you really enjoy it. We've had a DOT for years and like it for short trips, hauling camping gear or going places where towing a van is difficult. The downside is when the weather turns bad - can't sit in a RTT for days. We ended up with a conqueror uev490 too - suits us for longer trips - especially remote and it has weather security. We prefer not having internal toilet/shower but appreciate why a lot of people enjoy that convenience. One day we might sell the DOT but for the moment we still enjoy having a more traditional camping option.
Yes mate, I would love to keep the DOT, I really would but I have to be realistic. It is just more rego, more tyres, more bearings etc which means money.
Congratulations Buck & Ros & of course Rafa on your new van, we hope you find it easier & comfy, and it gets you out there more often. (Coming from a couple of never-want-a-caravan, who recently bought a small van just like Steve & Annie’s, but 6mths old & heaps of upgrades. The way to go, for sure. We aren’t getting any younger & stupid health problems made me realise it is the best option for us). Enjoy! ☺️
Hi Buck and Ros, congrats on your caravan and bet Rafa just thinks it’s great. We are looking for a van ourselves and of corse it has to have room for Mardi 98 yr old mother, wouldn’t be game to leave without her. Hope to have it all set for next years Fans event. at Clarence Town NSW. Being based at Lake Macquarie, count us in for contacts or helpers. Chrissy Burns, Geoff and Mardi, Great choice guys we love this area just beautiful
Buck you can get swithes with charge points already in them so it makes sense not to have to put in additional points. Chris from Western Australia. Love the van.
Neat Van Buck, Ros and rafa wil love it. As long as it meets your needs then it is perfect and doesnt matter what every one else says. You just chose wrong first up now you know what is perfect. Check under your bed light base some have a usb underneath. Mine looks the same as that and it has the usb. The shelf on the draw bar is for wood storage before getting to camp. The van will give you so much joy.
@@Mrbuckaroonie.. you hear that a lot with the cheaper Chinese made stuff mate … friend bought a brand that has “Aus” in the name, they thought it was Australian but nope, chinese too … had it just on maybe 18 months now and the floor is already blistering, bubbling and peeling and they’re having issues with the supplier / manufacturer not standing by their warranty promises or procedures. Happy to take the $50,000+ though for it. 😡🤬 So annoying that many are importing the same rubbish but just with different stickers and branding, yet none of them stand behind the product they so happily slap their stickers and brand all over 😡😡
We put an external hatch in to access the space under the off side bed. Works well as lifting the bed with the mattress against the wall is a pain. Also removed the small under bed drawer accessed from inside and hinged the face plate.
Great van. You can swap out the over bed blue/white reading lights for one's that have USB's integrated into them. They are identical but has a USB at the bottom.
Hi Buck. Love your blog. Your bedside reading lights look the same as ours. Just double check below the on/off switch, as ours have USB outlets which are hard to see. I haven't read all the comments, so not sure if someone has already mentioned it 👍
Really pleased to see you now have a caravan Buck, looks great and am sure you and Ros will enjoy it. Safe travels and maybe see you on the road again in the future. Take Care, Satch
Nice one buck love it yeah Jayco’s are alright nothing wrong with them I have one n got another one upgraded to a bigger one loving it now u need to go on some more trips buck n enjoy it lad 😂👍🏾
Hey mate thats the best thing you have done so far, Roz will love you for ever. funny you should talk a the size a mate had the same as your old van and ended up selling it because he felt cramped and got a 22" van.

Hey Buck, single beds are the go we also found in our 12 ft Olympic, due to so much more room up the middle of the van! And are great if one person is sick, etc. You've got your own space, but you still have "visiting " rights lol!
Hey mate, what a really nice van. How good is the set up. Perfect for long trips. Second hand items sometimes you get so much extras. Well done and your right Ros will be more comfortable. You to it's great to be comfortable. Great buy
Yeah beauityful guys you will feel alot happier in this van it has a lot more features. Cant wait to see the wonderful adventures that you will have now Congratulations
Looks like a nice van Buck. I am in the same boat as you and am looking for a more suitable van down here in Bisbane. Your new van looks great, will certainly give Jayco a good look. Thanks for the post....
Congratulations on the New van. Hey check underneath your flexible lights near your bedhead. You you might find usb points. That's where ours is located
Great new addition to your touring arsenal Buck, so happy for you both mate. Looks good guys happy travels. Kings roll up ally table not plastic your bbq will burn through, Kmart microwave/air fryer/oven all in one are a game changer. 😉 Might need Night light in the toilet by the sounds of it 😂
G'day Buck. Re-the vans camera set up. It's a 'REAR VIEW CAMERA' not a reverse camera. Should work when driving along so you can see what's comming up behind you. Reverse camera's only work when you put the car in reverse. Great choice of van to mate. We had the same one.
This van looks perfect for your needs and will provide the comfort for you to stay out camping instead of packing up hurriedly to go home if shit happens! The only thing l would add is is a grab rail near your entry door, especially in wet weather entry, as it offers a bit of a safety if you happen to slip getting inside. Also if you have a bad back like l do, l like the security it would add! 😊
Buck check under the base of the bedside lamps , they sometimes have a usb socket built into them . Otherwise great van mate , am sure you’ll be happy with it .
Hey Buck, don’t add additional usb chargers, just replace your existing double PowerPoints (GPO’s) with new ones that now incorporate usb outlets. It will look much neater. Get them from any electrical wholesaler life Sherriff Electrical or a Haymans
Nice van. Regarding the usb points. You can get reading lights that have usb points built into the base. Jayco sell them and they look like the originals. Easy to install as Jayco have spade connectors available under the light base. No need for auto sparkie.
You will use it more now you can be out of the weather, cook inside if needed and easy access ensuite. All the reasons we swapped the Reconn hybrid for a caravan, so much easier on our aging bodies. The tray at the front would be for your hoses so no wet smelly hoses in the boot. Stone Stomper, Aussie Traveller anti flap kit and a diesel heater would be other additions to think about. The three way fridge will take some adjusting to they take ages to cool down and some need the van to be very level to run on gas.
Any van you buy, you will have to play around with as Wether you spend 200 k or 30k .All of them have weak components. Jayco have great layouts & Aussie made ❤
Ha! It wasn’t that long ago you were taking the piss out of caravaners😂 I’ve had two Jaycos with the single beds, you’ll get a good nights sleep in those 👍 You should be able to keep the tv permanently onto that tv bracket, there should be a lock that screws onto the telescopic arm to secure it whilst travelling
Check under the bed lights for a usb port, we just installed these lights into our van and they have usb ports on the bottom side of the base attached to the wall.
I was speaking to someone recently who hates them. he reckons they beep all the time and cause more problems than they are worth. I will do more research.
@@Mrbuckaroonie..@Mrbuckaroonie, they can be hit-and-miss. I think the best system is Safety Dave, but it is up there in price. A lot of my friends have them and swear by them.

Good move buck,I know you don't need it up North but if it hasn't got one it could be good to get a gas or diesel heater if you plan on coming down south.
looks good buck, yeah even me and the missus werent happy at packing up the soft floor in the rain, we'll be in a van for the next camp up, how good are those kings new canvas bags, i got 8 of each size for a steal and have come in handy for the price

Really happy for ya buck, looks great!🎉
Congratulation Buck and Ros and Raffa.
Nice Van Buck, you’ll be able to visit Victoria any time of the year lol 😂 Dave

Great work mate
You will love it👍
best layout, looks fantastic
Looks great Buck see you on the road
Beautiful van guys. Don't let him tell you this isn't camping Rozzie 😊
Any van you buy, you will have to play around with as Wether you spend 200 k or 30k .All of them have weak components. Jayco have great layouts & Aussie made ❤
Ha! It wasn’t that long ago you were taking the piss out of caravaners😂
I’ve had two Jaycos with the single beds, you’ll get a good nights sleep in those 👍
You should be able to keep the tv permanently onto that tv bracket, there should be a lock that screws onto the telescopic arm to secure it whilst travelling
Yeah mate I love hanging shit on the vanners!!!! If you can't beat them, join them!!! lol
Check under the bed lights for a usb port, we just installed these lights into our van and they have usb ports on the bottom side of the base attached to the wall.
Not these ones.
Congratulations, Buck, on your new caravan. One thing you might want to invest in is a tyre pressure monitoring system. This is just a suggestion.
No issues with my icheck tpms, only time mine beeps is because I have a slow leak in front passenger side 😂
@@Mrbuckaroonie.. Buck, I bought a set of Oricon tyre monitors and thought they were fiddly and beep all the time. As my dad used to say "wouldn't give two nobs of goat sh1t for them".
I have the icheck my caravan tyres didnt show up on the screen once they warmed up so I emailed them and they sent free of charge a bluetooth booster. Great company to deal with. @Mrbuckaroonie..
love it buck!! cant wait to see it out and about,
Awesome van buck! Will look forward to some up coming trip videos! Hope the Bt50 tows it well 👍

Thats a rippa of a van, nice pickup Buck.
The Jayco looks much better for your and Ros’s needs, I hope that you get many miles (sorry kilometres) of use out of it.
Thanks Steve.
Great looking van
Good move buck,I know you don't need it up North but if it hasn't got one it could be good to get a gas or diesel heater if you plan on coming down south.
Yeah mate, maybe one day but not required up here, even in winter
Hey buck have a look under the bedside lights for usb outlet
