10:28 just find it funny
pleas make a video about the youtoubers that make fish tank beds but dont eaven aclimate the fish and no no filter no hetater ....
Everyone, did you do your waterchange? Don’t be afraid to get your hands wet! Also, today is an amazing day. I finally saw Hot dog my loach after like months without seeing him. Hurray.
Also, I have learned that if you set up a fish tank. And put some rotting plants in there, and over feed it. You have break outs like that. Another way is to get some plants from a super shady pet store and then boom. You got all sorts of things swimming around in there.
I keep a rain barrel in the sun with some creeping jenny cuttings floating year round and it's this green. Free food source? Hmmmm, the experiment might happen...
get yo hands wet!
@@screwyou2 oooooh. Super excited for you
I actually did a water change today lol
No water changes yet i’ve been going hard with 2 years lol and i also got to see one of my fish (CPD crayfish) i haven’t seen him since last month lol
Mystery yawning "fish" is an amphibian--a Three-toed Amphiuma (_Amphiuma tridactylum_). Rarely seen (but not rare) from the southeastern US. They are occasionally found on land and can bite pretty hard!
Cool, thanks for the info 😊
they sound pretty metal
scuds are amphipods, not copepods, very different niche. That copepod bloom is almost certainly a result of a big diatom bloom, which is a kind of algae that builds a shell out of silicates. Basically, glass coated unicellular algae. Often shows up as a brown speckled layer on your glass and hardscape. Copepods are pretty much the only thing that can eat them, and their niche has let them reach every body of water on earth. If they managed to produce that much WHILE being consumed by a betta, then it must have been one hell of a bloom.
So diatoms are good for something, after all. Who knew?
woops, I wonder if some ppl say scuds regionally even though it is incorrect
like how crayfish has like 8 different ways to be said
@@FishForThought Here, people look at my purple Cerax alysiae crayfish and call them bait. To me, that's not a terribly endearing name for them. I like crayfish better.
Never thought I would see an Amphiuma in an aquarium 8:36. Such an interesting Amphibian.
agreed
4:16 I finally put my 2 pearl gouramis into my new scape yesterday and one of them jumped out of the tank into the bucket I was holding while I was standing in front of the tank. Then I turned off the light for an hour cus he was definitely not happy with the move. 😅
at least it made it into the bucket!
Concrete block aquarium stands are great (if your floor can handle the extra weight).
Many years ago, I had one.
Form and function 👌
Once I set it up, I clad it with stained plywood and trim using hot glue 😅 it work fantastic and looked sharp enough. I moved the tank about three months later for a relocation. Easy to take apart, and I just glued it back together👍 it lived there for a little over three years.
I been eyeing those cinderblocks at my local rona
Another creator, MD Fish Tanks created a whole racking system wall with cinder blocks spacers and board shelves if you want to check out a clean look. 🤔
@StarEmpress30 I'm actually familiar with the video 👍 but if I were to tell you how it looked 🤔 I'd have to say that it mimicked the look of SerpaDesign (just a with a Grey stain) All the structure was in the blocks and boards. I then glued a prefabricated skin to the blocks. Now, I have much nicer custom furniture for my aquariums and terrariums(steel). The new pieces are a lot lighter but much stronger than my old setup that sat on a concrete slab at ground level (120 gallons)
The same tank is on the second floor of a wood frame house. I easily saved 400 lbs.
But thanks for the suggestion, would recommend to anyone who reads our comments 😎👌
They're probably scared of the white sand. From what I've read white substrate reflects light and makes them feel more exposed, and causes them to turn pale to try and blend in, while dark substrate (and a dark environment like a blackwater setup or a tank with floating plants) makes them feel more secure and also helps their colors to stand out a lot more
Plus having white sand is like having a white car or shirt: as pretty as it looks, it's gonna be a pain to keep it looking that pristine as any little speck of dirt sticks like a sore thumb XD
Very nice scape on the brackish!
And nah brackish isn't too difficult, the environments fluctuate constantly (unlike the ocean which is as stable as it comes) so you don't have to worry about getting the wrong amount of salt or anything :P
*Finding* brackish fish on the other hand... Not a lot of variety to choose from and not readily available, with the exception of mollies
Nice ten gallon but I'd prefer seeing black neons in a bigger tank
Beautiful 8 gallon 👏I think a bunch of cherry shrimp foraging around would look quite lovely in it
That long tank is just *mindblowing*...
edit: also sorry about the wall of text
good observations
@@FishForThought Thanks!
oh I wanted to get white sand so any corydoras don't hurt themselves while sifting, maybe I should look for black sand instead. Really helpful info here :)
@@aloevera5600 Glad I could help! ;)
Definitely black sand if you’re getting albino or panda cories or something like that, because with white they’ll just blend right in xD
But with black sand, they’ll really stand out!
@@garg4531 xD yeah I would want to be able to see them so black sand it is! Thank you so much!
The cinderblock concept is ingenious, and enhancing the front with inexpensive boards and trim would indeed elevate its appeal while keeping costs low.
ya fr, super cost efficient
@@FishForThought Bro I just googled it for ideas. It’s a deep rabbit hole 😂 Dude built a Mario brothers theme Brick Blocks with the ? Marks on top bro! I’m going to be up all night 😂
My sister’s mil had an even luckier fish years ago. It disappeared from her tank one day and she looked everywhere for it but didn’t find it. Finally she gave up. She found it a day or 2 later swimming around in a tank in her dehumidifier when she went to empty the tank
I had a 10 gallon with a dwarf gourami in it that someone gave to me before they moved to another state. It must have been old because it only lived for about 6 months, he was a big boy. Anyway after he died I left the tank fishless for 2 months. The tank has snails and I sprinkled some algae pellets in once a week to keep it cycled. Did water changes as usual. One day was doing a WC and saw copepods EVERYWHERE. That’s how you do it. Take your fish out for two months and give the tank food, but not a lot of food. Also my outlet of my filter is blocked by some filter floss for less flow for the female betta I was buying to breed. I think the low flow really helps the copepod pop explode.
Bienvenidos a FTR Lunes!! Wishing all a super radical and wonderfully positive week!! 🙏💙✌️
QotW; I mean, if adult capybara are so adorable can you imagine the bebes?!? But in all seriousness, I found a spider egg sac at the moment of hatching while gardening one time, right before sunset, and the babies were all taking flight in the wind Charlotte's Web style but irl. That was an amazing sight! Seeing all these baby spiders fly off to find their forever home with the orange/ pink sunset in the background and that mystical quality the light has at that time of day! Amazing nature for the win!
capybara bebes would be crazy cute
The cinderblock stand, MD fish tanks made an entire fish rack wall with them and planks and it looks great.
Those cinder blocks could easily be covered with a table cloth ☆☆☆☆☆
Ramshorn snail hatchlings are some of the most unexpectedly cute baby critters I've ever seen. 🐌🥺
Another Monday made great! Thank you for making such fantastic fish content!
thanks for tuning in!
i have a lot of copepods... they showed up with bladder snails in a tank that had only plants and 1 nerrite. the nerrite eventually died because there wasn't enough algae. i believe the pods showed up from the water supply, they started microscopic and then started to get bigger.
you got some thicc copepods
Cinder blocks are paintable so go nuts!
"Why does food taste so good after 11pm?!" --> WORD.
QOTW:
Mammals: Pomeranians, foxes, bears
Birds: Finches, baby chickens, hummingbirds
Reptiles: geckos, anoles
Fish: pufferfish, common goldfish, coolie loaches
Amphibians: tree frogs, cave salamanders
Invertebrates: Nerite snails, sea bunnies
They are all cute at some phase of their young life
Happy Monday everyone!😊
Happy Monday to you too 😊
Happy Monday to you too 😊
Happy Monday to you too 😊
Happy Monday to you too 😊
happy mondaying!
The warranty, thats why I buy the stands in the pet store. Did you know most companies won’t honor a warranty if you don’t use their approved stands for the tank?
ah ic that's true
Chris: bring back white clouds
Me: BRING BACK SHRIMP
11:01 Tbf bro, the PetStore betta grew up in a tiny glass jar in Thailand. 1 gallon is the most water it's ever known 😂
That fish bowl... 9:17
ya
To answer the QOTW: a few years ago I went on a trip to Chile and Bolivia and saw alpacas… and baby alpacas. I tell you there is no derpier creature on this planet. Firstly, their fur is like a teddy bear. The babies do that giraffe thing where they forget how legs work, but they also do the puppy zoomies thing. So we would see groups of young alpacas chase each other around and then BIFF it! Also, their necks are very flexible. The first time we saw one we tried to slowly walk closer, and then this mfer, who was facing the other way eating grass, swung it’s head around to stare at us without moving it’s body an inch. We all choked on our laughter. So ya, baby alpacas are the cutest little idiots ever.
omg baby alpacas
Great start to the week
ty! take care
“Why does food taste so good after 11pm?” …are …are you a gremlin? Because that would explain it. 😂
Qotw: a baby sugar glider. I seen one on a documentary and it had the largest eyes that melted me on the spot. He had white, soft, fluffy fur that you could pet all day. Adorable little fur babies and I would jump at the chance to own one.
Please do research. They dont do well singly and are very edvanced mammals to keep.
@@aslan-leemckee695 Yes I should've mentioned that. I ALWAYS research what I'm getting. Even my fish. And I don't get any animal without knowing that I can provide the care they need for a healthy and happy life. I make sure water parameters and tankmates, hardscape and plants are right for a fish first also. I didn't mention this because I just figured that it goes without saying and people would do research first themselves. Oops. I'm sorry for leaving it out.
very cute
qotw... how can you ask something so difficult?!?!?!? omg. ALL OF THEM. they're ALL the cutest
hahaha u got the right answer
in summer i watch like many of ur vids possible after months of school, im start to watching this channel again lol
great video as all!!! Personally I think all baby animals are cute but if I had to pick one it would be a baby raccoon. My hospital (vet tech) had one come in that was abandoned and he was the cutest thing!
9:46, I used to have this exact tank, it's 6 gallons at most, probably 5 gallons
They only make that tank kit in 19litres (5 gallons) and 24 litres (6 gallons)
oh dang
Easy way to get an explosion of micro prey is to use fine floating food for things like fry in a low flow tank - it sometimes never sinks and gets caught on any structures or floating plants.
I ended up with a tank i had to break down because I had a huge explosion of scuds in a 10gal and nothing in there wa big enough to eat them, as it just had chili rasboras and shrimp.
That is one chunky betta
crazy chonk
CHIRS MY GUY. WHAT WAS THAT SOUND AT 10:32 IM DYING OVER HERE
@ 5:55 thats what a Python spiny eel (mastacembelus armatus). They come in many different patterns but google also shows alot of wrong pictures or Mastacembelus circumcinctus which is a way smaller species. The Python spiny eel grows very large similar to the fire spiny eel which as the name suggests has an awesome red marking to it and becomes a giant waterpet noodle.. saddly most overfeed them cause they are EXPERTS at begging for food. They become super attached to their owner/fingers. I called my oldest one "Monty" because... he was as silly as Monty Python... yeah...im not creative...
awesome :0
Hi Chris, Excellent video. My Axolotl Lucinda passed this morning, Seeing those little eggs put a little love in my heart ♥ I don't know what to do with her, she's alone in a bucket. I'll have to put her in the garden?
What do we do with dead axolotls? @Fish For Thought
hey just fyi, that ain't vallisneria in the brackish water tank, instead they're crinum thaianum and crinum calamistratum aka the onion plant. Slow grower yet rewarding to plant
the yawn was amazing
ikr made me yawn
Those cinder blocks + plywood also make an excellent bed platform too.
Throw on a bed skirt & no one will notice or care.
Do the DIY headboard thing if you're interested & it's all good.
Those who go berko over cheap solutions are people you don't really want as friends anyway. =p
Dressers are great tank stands 😂
Lions are by far the cutest baby animal
The French fries joke got me lmao
lmao
you should say I hope I made your monday just a little betta! 😉get it Betta. I laughed so hard coming up with that
ahahaha
Brackish is so easy... collect pond water, add some sulawesi salts & let everything go nuts in there.
Add some nerites, bettas & shrimp. 😎
Several months ago, I got a load of plants in the mail, put the plants in tubs with water. A week later I´ve found a couple of fry swimming around. One of them survived, became a rainbow fish which I donated to my lfs. It´s needs don´t match with the water parameters I´m going for because of the South American tetras I´m keeping.
that's so cool
I use cinder blocks for many of my tanks and they come in other colors as well and are easy to paint
baby button quails are sooo cute
9:25 2 TURTLES IN A WHAT?!
Snails are the cutest when baby
The creatures in the first video are ostracods also known as seed shrimp
QOTW is a trick question. All baby animals are adorable!
hahaha the only right answer!
what are the plants at 8:00 susswasertang(spelling) a type of liverwort like plant and red lotus?
Really liked the aquariums this week! Especially the large one, very pretty.
yes great selection of tanks this monday!
QOTW: Tied between foals (baby horse) and puppies, especially corgis. Could be biased because I've been around both growing up but you cannot say they're not both the cutest things! Foals are just giant goofy puppies and corgi puppies are literally little potatoes with tiny legs!
classic!
(QOTW)
Q:
What is the cutest baby animal?
A:
A baby seal, they are curious, playful, clumsy, they make the silliest noises, and when they are content, they sit in banana pose.
Fr 😂
Meanwhile my local chinese food restaurant takes it one step further and just has a TV with an ocean wildlife channel with chill music lol
Also i've had that exact thing happen multiple times, where a fish jumped from its tank or jar ( jars for betta breeding ) and landed in another container of water. MY luck is absolute trash, so i think i know where its all been going. its not enough for the fish to steal all my time and money they gotta steal my luck too xD
added enjoyment to my snow day
awesome
Have you ever seen a baby tree kangaroo? Cuz daaaaamn, they’re should be a stuffed animal levels of cute.
Wow... love the 6:46 aquarium, so pretty
ikr!
Qotwi think the cutest baby animal that I have experienced taking care of is probably bristle nose pleco babies after they have become free swimming, so cute :)
oh man yeah I've seen some baby plecs irl and it's so cute
The kerning city music threw me back to 2008
Small fish gang is true for my 29gal, a school of 9 chili rasboras and 7 CPD's usually you only see 6 fish at once because they all hide from people lol.
small fish gang for the WIN
8:37 looks like an olm. I mean it's not but it looks similar enough to think it's some kind of salamander.
edit: it's an amphiuma
I got one of those stackable Amazon "goldfish betta bowl aquarium snail fish tank" things. My wallet is bigger than that thing! 😂😂😂
french fries?!?! ok that made my monday 10 times better lolllll
ahahaha
I had a PetSmart employee try to convince me that a 3 gallon tank was better than my cycled, planted 45 gallon. SMH
aiya
QOTW: Possum. There's no other acceptable answer. 😂
omg xD
8:43 it’s an amphibian, no fish or eel has arms/legs this well developed. Probably an olm of some kind
icic
Man, I think you need to up the first ones feeding 😂
UK trains have metal tables, it will hold ;)
that's metal af
Sugar Gliders, aka Sugar bears, aka many other names. They are so adorable birth to adult ❤Also thank you for the video, I hope you post one with your with soon😊
I already think the adults still look like babies haha
I try to keep a wingless fruit fly culture around to feed my fish. The live action on the surface makes them go crazy!
oh man that's genius
You inspired me to make a pearl weed tank.
ayyy
@@FishForThought i got a curve ten gallon rimless :)
Now you've done it. You've gone and asked a completely unanswerable QOTW. Cutest baby animal, singular, as in just one? I can't even narrow it down to my top 10, but two that come to mind immediately are baby ocelots and baby fennec foxes.
dang baby fennec fox def go hard
BEST THING ABOUT MONDAY ❤❤❤❤
YAY ty
Thise big, beautiful planted tanks 😍
Goals!
ikr!
I get them all the time in my 2 smaller tanks. Idk what exactly they are, but Santa is bringing me a better microscope. News after holidays. Enjoy!
Those look like baby brine shrimp. My daughter got into sea monkeys at Christmas and they look exactly like a week old shrimp.
Baby goats: basically, some goddess somewhere: "let's take a puppy, a pony and a unicorn and combine the DNA..."
hahaha xD
I hope one day, we get an update on the axolotl egg person on a FTR!!
Baby platypus are adorable... Platypye?
They look like daphnia to me. My cyclops copepods are a little longer and aren't pink. That's the best fish food you can have.
Baby hippos. Or Murder Potatoes as they are known scientifically.
So jealous of that initial betta tank
I have no filter, dence planting, and botanicals decomposing in a tank just for micro organisms, and I'm no where close to the power of this person's betta tank lmao
me too me too
Qotw: Man there’s so many cute baby animals out there. But if you thought chicks were cute, wait until you see silkie chicks! As they start to reach the stages where most of their chickens start to lose the fluff, the silkie chicks keep it!
omg sounds adorbs
love your vidsssss
Copepods and scuds aren’t the same, and Betta’s love them both 😊❤️
Green water, these copepods feeds on algae in suspension
true
I googled it. Copepods can come in on rocks or sand
Need a trigger warning for mentioning Malaysian trumpet snails. I set up a 10-gallon tank for work. Some wood, some stone, some plants, nutrient black substrate and a few fish (betta and 3 corys). One day I see a cone shaped shell and think "wow, that's novel that a shell got in with the substrate. It looks pretty." A few weeks later that shell is on top of the wood and I'm concerned. Another week goes by and it is all Malaysian trumpet snails. No matter how many I culled, I couldn't stop the population explosion. I left that tank there when I left the job. I haven't had a fish tank since.
ahahaha
another grat and amazing monday
u too
QOTW: Small 1 or 2 month old kittens are the cutest, second is the same old baby bulldog and third is the 5 months old female betta. There are so many cute animal, it was hard to sum up my all time top 3.
QOTW : baby tigers all the way, there so cute! And my sister's puppy never seen a thing this cute irl before.
Also the French fries pun made me laugh and smile but also scared me : imagine going to McDo and they serve you this instead, I would cry
wow xD
Have you ever seen a baby pigeon ?
They're ugly as sin, in the cutest weird way ever. (:
Was that a copepod breakout or a brineshrimps they added? Those look like brineshrimp hatchlings. I have been meaning to start my hatcheries again 😂
haha this is your sign from the universe
@@FishForThought time to have dwarf seahorses again 🤣
Another fire video 🔥
tyty
Just cleaned my 9 gallon tank today & found 1 pond snail in the tank & another on the wall when the stand is 4" away & nothing else is touching the stand... 🤔
I also plucked 2 centipedes out. My nerite snail was sleeping on the job while the pond snail was going to town...
QOTW (bless you) answer of the week: Gosh, that's a tough one. There's so many cute babies out there. How about a baby tape worm? They look like a cute little grain of steamed rice, often in a much uglier lump of animal poo. Maybe it's just that they look better by comparison to what they live in. Or maybe it's because it looks nowhere as horrific as the creature it will become. All I can say is that even though it might look cute, definitely don't give in to the urge to reach down and tickle it (goochi goochi goo!).
BABY TAPE WORM
I have daphnia cultures I keep outside for and not only are they free live food they will destroy green water 😍. Best thing I've ever invested in imo
