- This week, we both get to work ripping out rotten wood from the other outbuildings before taking down a dividing wall while saving the bricks in the process. We also make another discovery in the process...
About Us 🏚️👫🏼🐈🐕🐕
We're Michael & Becci (the humans) and Tilly (sassy English tortoiseshell cat), Alfie and Anoushka (Portuguese rescue dogs). After four years in Portugal and numerous dreams about renovating our own property, we've taken the plunge and are renovating a schist stone house and its outbuildings in Figueiró dos Vinhos. We're doing most of the work ourselves (or... Michael is!) and we'll be stepping back in time to create a character property with as many original features and antiques as possible.
Join us for the journey and don't forget to like, subscribe and comment! We love hearing from you 💛

LOVED THE DOGS JOINING YOU BOTH. GREAT JOB ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Ah, thanks so much!! 💛
It would be lovely to see another walk around of your land now that you have completed so much clearing - it seems unrecognizable since the last one. Fabulous job on clearing and re-joining the room. And a win for England to top of the hard days work! Living the dream guys xxx
Thank you so much 😊 good idea! We're hoping to get some better drone shots of the land as well! Haha...winning, for now 😉💛
May I ask, are you managing all this with jobs as well. You certainly have a full week. I like the idea of the plastic bags for the wood pieces. A great way to keep it tidy and be easy to manage. The stonework was beautifully done. Do you have a law to be quiet on Sundays for any period as they do in France? Best wishes.
Thank you so much 😊 I (Becci) work full time which is why you don't see me much! Michael is just working full time on the renovation. We tend to keep things quiet on Sundays but don't have many close neighbours to disturb much! 💛
Hola amigo. Te admiro profundamente. Tienes una capacidad de trabajo excelente !!! ❤
Thank you so much 💛
You have an amazing work ethic!
Thank you so much! 😊
Apenas voy por los primeros capítulos y estoy super entusiasmada !!! 😊😊😊❤
Lovely to hear 💛💛💛 thank you!
Me quito el sombrero ante ti. Eres de un orden y un juicio maravillosos !!! Me encanta haberte descubierto. Vale la pena estar pendiente de tu genial trabajo. ❤
What a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much 😊
Greetings cousins! Great progress as always. Enjoy the rain while you can, we going to see temps between 113 and 118F all week here in PS California 😑. Everything is looking good over there and we appreciate the updates. Best wishes always, Moody😎
Eeeek! Hope you're keeping cool over there, Moody. It hit about 35C here today so we're all sat in front of the fan tonight! Thanks as always for getting in touch - always lovely to hear from you! 😊
Quė maravilloso que lo tradujeran al español. 😊😊❤
😍 good to hear that it works well!
"Time for another bout of misery" Michael you sound like a Scotsman 😉🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the deserved beer, I don't follow football but all the best to England now that my countrymen are home in their usual shame 🫢🤫😂
More progress and its amazing how much that room transformed with the roof and brick wall removed, Im assuming toy will level the floor with either concrete or wooden boards at some point to make it a fully usable space.
Well done both of you
🤣 brilliant!! Thanks so much 😊 we will have to level the floor yes... We'll need to figure out the best way to make it all useable with it being built into the stone. Hoping to have it as an self contained space for family 🤞🏻
Well done - as always! 🙏✨🤍
Thanks so much 😊💛💫
Great work again, the huge rocks in the back of the room would be a great feature. It’s good to see all the character being drawn back out from the decades of decay and countryside maintenance 👍🏼
Thanks so much 😊
You sure have a lot of amazing patios and terraces around your land.
Thanks so much 😊
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, good work 👍😁.
Thanks so much as always 💛💛💛💛💛
Nice you saved the special stone.
Where do you live right now? You show us the empty rooms and the garden but not the area where you cook etc.
Thanks so much 😊 we'll have to do a bit of update on the cabin! It's right next to the outbuildings we've been clearing out.
Your such a grafter 😊well done 😊
Thank you 😊
great job. Love your stond koffie tabel😆
😅 thanks so much!
I assume you have restrictions on burning all of that debris. In the states we dig large holes for the debris and burn for safety.
We do! We're not allowed to burn anything from June onwards. We've been using a chipper to get rid of all the debris 😊
I was sad to see the little water trough go! But I understand why. It was cute.
Thank you 😊
I noticed while you were using your chainsaw you had no safety gear on at all. I think you should take a little more care of yourself in that respect.
Thank you 😊
You just removed all the character of the old building.😡
Sadly you don't understand about rotten wood or 200 year old plaster or the fact that these stones are dry stacked.
👋🏻💛
