I found that this scotch changes with time more than any other I've had on my bar. I wasn't blown away when I first bought it, but when I came back to it a couple of months later, it changed for the better. The wine influence diminished, but it became much richer for me.
I recall this as a tasty scotch. I have a fond memory of it. The only downside I remember about it was that to me, at that time, it was a bit too hot. Then again I was a scotch noob 6 years ago when I had it. But I’d buy it again if I ran into it, although unlikely since it’s now been discontinued.
This was a real early review for us. I don't remember that much about it, but I do remember Bart said "Iron" as a note, which was the first time I'd heard that.
Iron huh? Not sure that's something I want to pick up out of a dram. But, it is funny how unique palates are, everyone is sensitive to something different! I seem to pick up the sulfur/rubber smell on the nose more than the other guys....sometimes they think I'm crazy when I say I smell it....of course, it doesn't stop me from drinking it....haha! ~Mark
No need to apologize, call it like you see it! That's the way we appreciate comments and the only way things get better! ~Mark (one of the 2 that killed the review) 😉
Liked the video guys, I'm a subscriber and enjoy your reviews. Just a thought, would you consider changing to a 100-point scoring system for more granularity?
The reasonable priced 18yo is still king of the range since the 15yo went away. All of these finished versions are just variations on a theme including the Private Editions. The cask strength Astar is making a return soon, which has a nice peppermint profile reminiscent of a Bladnoch Lowland malt.
We are going to do the whole Glenmorangie lineup this week. This one is an interesting one, but not my favorite from this distillery. If you have never done the full flight, it is very interesting. Doesn't matter which distillery, it is very educational to try a whole series from the same distillery to see the flavors change. -Shawn
@@Scotch4Dummies Nice, I have the Glenmorangie 4-bottle sample set sitting on my shelf and am planning on doing a bind tasting with two friends this weekend.
Great Review Boys....this was the first review on my channel as it was the whisky that really got me into single malt. I have had better whisky since but this is still so good and so cheap. I'm looking forward to wrecking you guys in the STD fantasy football league. As an ohioan and Buckeye fan I really hope you guys aren't IU fans:)
Wow, this was my first single malt that got me going! I found a site that has some for $60. I should buy them. I just remember it being too spicy almost. Probably because it was my first and wasn’t used to higher abvs?
@@Scotch4Dummies it honestly os fun to taste these two side by side. They are definitely not the same but you can totally pull similar flavors because both are port. And is better than you guys are saying. I agree with Drew.
You better say glenmorangie right....Roy will get on your asses:) Awesome review guys......this was the dram that truly got me into loving scotch. Such a great bang for your buck whisky.
We were not to impressed with Glenmorangie until we got into some of their more expensive bottles. They have some good stuff but the entry level is not that special.
I'll need to look into the rest of their range and see what they have to offer. I'm only a few years into this so am still going through all the standard stuff to see what I like and don't. I'll get round to them one of those days!

I'm finding more and more how much every scotch changes over time (after it's been opened)....~Mark
The Quinta Ruban is one of my all time favorite drams. Good to see you guys dishing out some good marks for it :)
It had a lot of good qualities and the flavor profile is different from most scotch in this price level. Definitely worth having on the bar.

My Favorite Glenmorangie!!! Hope you guys like it!
My favorite of the core range! A 3 for me using your scale.
One of the better 12 year old expressions out there IMO. My favorite of the 12 year old line-up at Glenmorangie.
May need to do a comparison video with it against the Dalmore 12....
I really love this bottle. Got it on my last birthday.
I got chocolate covered raisins with this primarily.
always enjoy the chocolate covered raisins!
I think this is one of the best taste for me ...
1- Quinta Ruban
2- necta d’or
3- the Original 10
4 Lasanta
Good reviews fellas. Keep it coming
I would switch Lasanta and Necta d`or.

Agree with, Drew but, Shawn explained it perfectly! The other two killed the review, sorry.

Something to ponder......
Going to try this in the weekend =)

Agreed 200%.
This is one of my favorite inexpensive single malts! I can usually find it for around $48, but wish it was closer to $40.
Under $50 is still pretty good for this bottle!
$40 for a distinguished single malt...lmao. i remember $1.50 movies.
Jeff Coole
Well we all wish things were cheaper than they are.
Hey u guys should review a Japanese whisky tho.. how about the Nikka coffey malt? Pretty affordable and really good👌🏼
We have a Japanese bottle on the bar in line to be reviewed....stay tuned!
Scotch 4 Dummies nice, i'm looking forward to that
Love this scotch! One of my favorites.
If you love port wine, this one's nose is immediately recognizable. The underlying scotch isn't my favorite, but I still enjoy this bottle.

Nice review guys, Glenmorangie Signet is the one to try if you can.
+Chasing Classic Whiskies Signet is on our bar waiting for a review. It is a sweet bottle. ~Andrew
I know it's not the channel's thing, but you guys should try this next to Angel's envy.
Doesn't mean we couldn't just try them head to head. Maybe on a live show. We drink all kinds of stuff on Thursdays.

$54 bucks in Arkansas! 2 fingers? I like it, but not one of my favorite bottles! A little hot, try a splash of water!😀
Dark colour appearance. Real or not ??
@Golden Calf. Thanks.
Have you tried Glen. Necta D' Or. ?. Which one has more of the good rich Oily mouth feel coating , that I am looking for ?.
About time dummies!
Marzipan!
Audible!
Lol the finish is total bubble gum, damn... You ruined the finish! Lol
Great review!
It's not like any of us blew bubbles with it...LOL! ;-) ~Mark
