Thanks for your review. I'm disappointed that videos downloaded with the Home app don't include timestamps. Apparently the older Nest cams provided timestamps in the subtitles when videos were downloaded.
Thanks for the informative review! I have owned six Nest cameras (two inside and four outside), for at least four years. They, by far have been the best for overall performance, including being exposed to the winters of the PA mountains. I also have Wyze, Ring, and Reolink. The Nest Cameras are more expensive but worth the money (IMO), and I will be adding this new Cam to my collection upon viewing your review.
Have you received information that Nest will no longer support the older cameras and will stop working in April 2024? Any information you can give me will be appreciated.
I think the camera lacked some futures that you expect from a camera and it is not good. Features like the ability to zoom in the camera for a closer look footage, you also other than manually you can't command your camera to go up or down or even left and right with your camera like some other camera offer. Also locking some other futures under a subscription service is really turn off. Now this camera has been out for a few years now, i don't know if they have added more futures to it since then. I really don't know if this is the camera for me since i'm shopping for one and this camera is going right now for 69.99 at amazon.
I have the Drop/Nest Cam indoor with motion. But it’s being terminated in April 2024 and I can’t get through to anyone at Nest. Apparently they are supposed to give a discount for the new Nest Cam for current subscribers. It looks like I got ripped off cuz there’s no way to get any information from Nest.
Great video. It answers some of my questions, but leaves others open. Your video, like Google's messaging, is ambiguous with respect to the push notifications and whether or not they are available with or without the NEST AWARE service. I am not using NA, and I set up all the push notifications, under which events, etc. Can't seem to get any notifications. And at that, it is hard to test because - I believe - if the camera has learned the people in your household, then you'd have to test it with a genuine stranger.
Review appreciated! When setting camera to "Home" and the green light goes off, is the cam still connected to wi-fi? or does one need to unplug the unit from its power source to sever the wi-fi connection?
Thank you so much for this great information. I needed an indoor camera and you laid it out in for me to purchase one today. I like and subscribed to the channel.
How do I set up dog mode and monitor barking, hence reason for purchase this camera, but unfortunately I’m finding it difficult in installing animal and barking.
Please keep your receipt. Great picture when I set it up,but after three minutes it goes in and out. There is a big problem with nest google. Beware. 😢
I want to get this just so I can open the app and see what my dog is doing. Do you need a subscription to just watch through the camera? I don't even care if I get alerts, I just want to be able to log into my app and see what's going on while I'm away.
I bought the previous model two years ago and am just now putting it to use lol.. I was wondering about this one but am happy until I need an upgrade. Also, if anybody is looking for logs of footage history.. it’s always best to pay for the subscription. I’m trying about the Nest Aware Plus plan because I need monitoring and have the ability to check back hours if not days. I’m pretty happy with Google at the moment!
now, why they have put the ID code on a removable sitcker (you can lost easily), and no more printed directly on the camera, like the old Nest Cams ... ?
Can you access the livestream when u are outside? I am not in need of going back in history, only need to see whats happening right now (live). Is that possible and is a subscription required for that?
No. The Nest Indoor Wired Cam, 2nd. Generation is not compatible with the Nest app. You cannot add it to the app, pure and simple. The Nest Indoor Wired Cam, 2nd. Generation will **only** work with the "Google Home" app.
If you're talking about watching live footage from the cam to your phone remotely over a period of 24/7... well, I've got to say that is not the most practical thing to do, but I believe you can, though I've only done it for 3 hours only. I do believe there is a limit imposed on the battery powered variant due to thermal management issues. If you're talking about 24/7 video recording (the only practical kind of 24/7 streaming - to the cloud, that is), yes; you just need to be subscribed to Nest Aware Plus and be using a wired camera as the above mentioned thermal management limitations are also applicable here too.
Hi - can two phones (2 people) download the app and view from each of their own phones, or can only 1 be connected to the cams? I'm thinking of this for clients w/Parkinson's to have a spouse and a neighbor check in.
Sorry, but only 3 hours lookback for free is dank. Should be at least 12 hours. Maybe people pay for more than that, fine, but don't short-change them with only 3 hours.
There is a setting for what gets recorded during an "event". Of course, the video is recorded. If you want to record audio as well, you can turn that on in the event settings. By default, audio is OFF.
Yes. As he's explained before; once installed, activating it is defined in the Home and Away routines. Apart from manually selecting Home (cam off) or Away (cam on), you can define the geo-boundary of your property and give the app access to your cellphone's location (at all times) so that it knows if you are Home (within the defined boundary, therefore cam off) or Away (outside of the defined boundary, therefore cam off). Depending on type, you may have other smart devices help determine if the house is occupied (Home) or vacant (Away).
Hi! I was wondering if you could use the Indoor camera also outdoor if you install it somewhere dry. Would that be oke to do, does anyone have any experience with this?
Good question! If we have not answered your question within our detailed hands-on review, we suggest reaching out to the company directly to get more information. Thanks for understanding!

I live in a apartment where the wifi is free and open (meaning there’s no password required for the wifi) so would this be able to work with my wifi being that way? Like during the setup process after picking the wifi would it ask for a password because my wifi has no password
We recommend you don't do that. Having your security system on an open Wi-Fi network means you don't have a security system as much as you just gave everyone access to your feeds.
Im looking for a indoor cam, the 2 way audio is important , trying to decide btwn nescam indoor wired and the outdoor wireless that you reviewed, seemed to be more quality audio and video Why is the the wired one only $80 vs $150 is it only cause of the battery or is the indoor less clear video and audio? How do the 2 compare quality wise other than the battery difference?
Good question! If we have not answered your question within our detailed hands-on review, we suggest reaching out to the company directly to get more information. Thanks for understanding!

Can I install this outdoors but under cover? No water will get to it and no direct sun but humidity is weather dependent. Usually 50-60% but higher in summer months.
A really useful review of Google Nest Indoor Security Camera. Thank you Cory. I particularly liked your explanation of the Nest Aware subscription plans. I want to buy Nest Aware Plus so I could get 24/7 recordings without missing anything. I am having to do it because of a series of attacks on my property. I do have one question. With Nest Aware Plus, you can get up to ten days of 24/7 recording. After ten days, what happens? Does the device start another batch of ten days and record 24/7? Do I have to activate it manually? Or, after the first ten days, that recording will disappear and be replaced by the new batch of ten days?
Good question! If we have not answered your question within our detailed hands-on review, we suggest reaching out to the company directly to get more information. Thanks for understanding!
3 hours of video history for free. Here is my concern. So if I am at work etc and not able to access my phone for 8 hours or more, I will then have no video evidence of the event if 3 hours has elapsed. Doesn't that make it redundant as a security device? Unless I pay a lifelong Subscription fee, of which I wont.
With some cams, you can only live view if you don't subscribe. I do feel that 24 hours is not mu h to ask for; but factor in all those features previously locked behind a paywall and one can understand the tradeoff. I've gone with the standard Nest Aware subscription with mine.
Does anybody know if this camera can reproduce a loud sound like an alarm or something when it detects whatever you configured to be detected (motion, people, animals, etc) ?
1080p? LOL! Get with it Google 4K is the new standard. Then it'll be 8K. Also, it needs color night vision, a 180-degree view, 8MP, and instant and fast response times for the Nest app, and if the camera can follow the person or anything moving in the video too.
The camera itself is good, what is criminal is the subscription cost the Google is charging, it is excessively expensive for essentially just storage. In a world where everything is a subscription cost, most people, unless they have a specific security requirement are going to bypass subscription due to cost. Only so many subscription services people can afford, they all add up and this for most will be far down the list.
It's a shame that a channel named "security" suggest that a $100 subscription-based camera, 3 hours of free recording and everything is uploaded to cloud for AI training is a good deal.
3 hrs is pointless. Thankfully, I don't care about recording. I just need a live feed once in a while, and I'm thinking about getting rid of my Arlo cameras. I'm getting tired of having to maintain separate accounts for different kinds of devices.
