My understanding is that the power cable comes out to the front like it does to stop water flowing into the camera. As the majority of people point the camera down, if the cable was the other way then water could flow down the cable and into the power port. By facing the cable the other way, the cable has to loop back on itself causing the water to stay on the cable. When electricians run cables outdoors, they do a similar thing by creating a U shape before going into a wall, this stops water flowing into the building. I would have much preferred them to use a barrel jack, as to power the camera 24/7 I need to drill a 15mm hole to get the end of the cable through, whereas the thickness of the cable is only around 6mm.

The power cable actually makes sense. My camera is against the wall and points down into my yard, if the cord pointed back then the wall would be in the way and I wouldn't be able to point the camera down. If you saw my camera on the wall it looks right and you'd completely understand why it's pointed forward. The big issue I have is with the home app. It sucks! I have the nest doorbell that works on the nest app and that's why I bought the nest camera. Except the camera doesn't work on the nest app. I find notifications don't catch things very well, they miss alot. But having 24/7 recording and how well the nest app can scrub the timeline makes it easy to see if anything came into view. The home app doesn't allow for scrubbing the timeline. It takes 3 to 5 seconds to load every time you move to a different point on the timeline. So if something happen over night the camera zones didn't catch it (which it so often doesn't) you will have to review a whole 6 to 8 hours of footage in real time because there is no way to fast forward or rewind like the nest app. Not using the nest app is a HUGE downgrade for this camera.
Man, I'm glad I read this! I already have 5 cameras all running through the Nest app, so adding one that I had to access in a different app would be terrible. I hope they fix this!
Google was pretty dumb to not utilize nest app. The home app does suck and I never use that. I use nest app and never miss any camera notifications and works flawlessly
I didn't see any info about recharging. If you install it outdoors, 9 ft. up like in your video... do you have to take it down every few weeks to recharge it or replace batteries?!?1
I think the “backwards” cable is to make an enforced “drip loop” in the cable to reduce moisture movement into your house if you have it permanently connected. Also once mounted it is easier to attach and leave in place from the front (so you don’t have to move what the camera is pointing at)
I didn't even think about that, but makes sense. I feel like with this being the biggest complaint from many reviews Google should at least write a blog post about it. Also if there was no obvious reason a third part could probably make a connector that faces the other way (probably wouldn't be supported by Google). There was definitely intent. I first though it was just in case you angle it at a hard down angle.
So i saw a picture on the google site that showed the camera face down on a table charging. In that position the cable angle made sense. Link below, scroll to middle of page. store.google.com/product/nest_cam_battery_setup?hl=en-US
Would be really slick if they could have had the power cable connect directly to a wireless charging camera mount so there a essentially no wires at all.
@@jschiegner That would be the best in terms of it being completely sealed and waterproof and also to hide any cables for a seamless look. Google should hire you for that 😅
You are the first-and possibly only-reviewer to mention the threaded mount option! Even Google’s product description omits this encouraging feature. Instead, Google recommends the Wasserstein security cable if you mount the camera higher than one story…in the event that the camera falls!
I just bought this and was so impressed I immediately ordered a second. Even in 2022, this holds its own. My only complaint is that it does not work with the nest app. I know they are killing Nest as we know it, but the app will still be around for a while and is way better than the Home app
I agree 100 percent. Nest App showing all live cams at 1 time is sooooo much better than Google Home. Very disappointed like most. Why not add that to the new app? SMH
@@jimbob6951 the Google home app shows all the live cams at once too......you have to click the cameras circle button at the top of the screen just below your home name and it will pull up a page that shows all the cameras live
@@jamess7841 I see. Thanks sooo much. That is a game changer for me, although I do still much prefer nest if it would also show the battery camera I have on my driveway.

But I bought this camera to view my driveway. I don't keep my phone attached to me like most do I guess and have a nest hub in near every room.
@@jimbob6951 yes you just say ok Google show (camera name) and it will show the video on your hub. I just tried it on my nest hub 2nd gen ( the smaller ones) with my Google battery cameras and my indoor ones and they work great. I don't have a max but I'm sure it's the same
So the position of the cable makes sense now, if you tilt the camera down a lot, the cable wouldn’t fit. I just setup my camera and I initially agreed the cable should have faced the other way, until I basically pushed my camera all the way down.
I think the cable goes front because they do not want the water sliding from the cable to the connector. If it is going at the back it will be difficult to lineup the cable upside-down.
Great review! I have four of the original Nest Outdoor Cams (not the IQ) and I've been very pleased with them. Was considering making the jump to the IQs and then they discontinued them. I love the fact that Nest finally released a battery cam, but I was a bit unsure about the specs, until I saw your video. Now I may seriously consider getting one! Thanks for the great review!
I rather use any surveillance camera with hard wire for 24/7 recording. Have a battery powered Arlo and its a pain in the butt to have it charged every week. Just more items to charge as if earbuds, smartwatcges, phones, tablets etc. are not enough 🤣
@@samjam6989 the battery operated Nest cams last anywhere from a month to about 7 depending on the settings you choose. There are also hardwire kits and if running a power cable to them is too much hassle, there are POE adapters to power them as well.
@@samjam6989 as long as it's the Nest Cam Battery type you can. Not the IQ or outdoor specific one. I chose to run POE for mine since my whole house is already "smart" wired with ethernet in every room and a closet with a dedicated wall box and outlets to run everything. Still, POE in my opinion is probably the easier and potentially cheaper option instead of having to tap in to existing power lines or running new ones from a punch out on the breaker box. I hear romex isn't too cheap anymore where ethernet cable still is. For 6 a month, the Nest Cam really takes the cake for what I need. I believe it also allows for you to access the camera on your Google home devices and use them to call 911 in an emergency as well.
I purchased it and returned it the next day. Not compatible with the nest app only functions on google home. If you have other nest products you have to run both apps. So you loose the features of the Nest app such as: Spaces and scrubbing through video footage.
the cable points outward so you can angle the camera however you want on the magnetic base. You can have it angled straight down if you want to and that way the chord won't get in the way.
Yep. You can actually buy an aftermarket cable where the connector is pointed perpendicular/90 degrees to the camera body. However, aftermarket cables are only a few dollars cheaper than the google-branded ones.
I am concerned about nest support, i have the IQ and the other nest camera and its has a blank coverage. then it shuts off by themself/ can you give me a direct support number or page to get answers
I have 2 NEST IQ cameras on my home now. I need to add a third. Not sure to go with the older NEST or new Battery NEST?? One question, can you keep it plugged in?
I'll wait until they come out with an updated app and website so you can view this new version with the rest of the Nest cams. Otherwise what's the point? FYI - reviewers of the anti-theft mount complain of the design causing a washed out view due to the upper fin causing a reflection of light.
I bought mine without watching any reviews and was disappointed it didn’t show up on my nest app with my other cameras. I read that Google doesn’t plan on adding these to the nest app. Honestly, the biggest disappointment is the power cable facing outward. I fixed the IR reflection with flat black on the inside of the Wasserstein anti-theft case.
Is there a way to have a chime for the Google cameras when they detect motion just like how ring does it when motion is detected the chime in the home goes off is that possible with Google?
Does anyone know if the cable included in the box is weatherproof? I’m planning to drill a hole and run the cable from the inside of the garage where the outlet is located.
I installed 3 of these cameras to cover all areas of my home,so far,so good. The less activity the camera picks up the longer it will last before recharging. The 2 more active cameras I recharge once a month. I also installed a nest generation 2 wired doorbell camera,it also works great.
Ok I know this is a stupid question, but I'm old and 10 years behind on tech. Will this work on my wifi only, or must I have good cell coverage? My cell reception sucks. Also, IF I can use it without cell coverage, would I be able to view the camera video on my tv using a Google Chrome 4k TV Streaming Box? Appreciate any help..
4k or 2K even would the drain battery super fast that's why it's 1080P and i don't think you are understanding the 3 hour recording. It's 3 hours of events. And you can customize it's filters so it doesn't record animals or other motions. So if someone is walking around and breaks in it'll record it as an event because it will detect a person. The spot light version is coming out soon. I agree with you on that,. I think it's a must have, so I'm waiting for that version.
Are you talking about a new camera that has a spotlight? Or are you taking about floodlight that has the spotlight? That is two different things if that's the case I'd wait too, but I have heard of another camera.

Great review but I dont think I heard anything regarding the life of the battery - How long does it last - Every system of this kind ( battery powered) have limited life duration. What is the estimated life duration of the battery for this unit? thanks
The side by side was great ! The new camera was much nicer. Only negative is that it doesn’t pick up colors at night time. Speaking from the law enforcement experience it would be nice that it had color to pickup clothing if someone breaks in or does anything suspicious around your house.
Debating on getting 2 cameras, I need one for front and back yard. North side front, south side of the house with back sun exposure. Ideally leave them inside and plugged in. Suggestions on a brand or brands that would work for my concerns. No lag between movements, leaves blowing creating false alerts, sunlight making the camera unable to see.
Great video. Got a question, 3 hours of free video means you literallly have 3 hrs to catch an event before its auto deleted forever? Might be hard to catch an incident within 3 hrs.
i dont know that much about cameras but an operating temperature of -4 to 104 degrees F seems kind of bad for something meant to be used outdoors 24/7... isn't it going to be more than 104 degrees pretty regularly in warm climates in direct sunlight?... same for climates where it snows
This is something to consider for sure. My phone likes to warn me and shut off if it's in direct sun for a few minutes, so I would hope these cameras can handle a bit more heat than that.
Amazon has a selection of hoods/shields to protect outdoor cameras from the elements. I imagine, even on a hot day, that the cam’s internal temp won’t reach 104 if shaded.
I haven't used a whole battery yet but, according to CNET a battery can last between 1-7 months. It's all going to depend on the features you have turned on and how active the area is that you're monitoring.
I'd love to see a follow up on this maybe with battery life info on the doorbell add well from real world use. Maybe also app info to make it a long enough video since by then they would have fix really gripes about the nest app vs googled home app not having things.

I like the features and quality. One thing you are stuck on is it doesn't have a built in light. With a battery, that would increase the power use and shorten time between charges. If you need to light an area, usually you have floodlights around your house. Change them to motion sensor floods. The video quality is fantastic for a 2MP cam and not an issue. Great review. Thanks. I ordered the Nest Battery Doorbell and waiting for that. I'm switching from Ring.
Yea, i really like those built in floodlights. Eufy and Reolink have me spoiled. haha My favorite setup is a battery camera with a floodlight and solar panel. :)
@@SteveDOES I have two Eufy Pro 2 cams 4K and they’re great too. But they don’t have lights either. Solar panels would be the ticket. I just wish Blink would have geofencing. That’s one feature I really like with Nest. Thanks for the great reviews. Can’t wait to get my Google Doorbell now.
I've had mine for a couple of days now and so far it is pretty ordinairy and very hit & miss on how long it takes for the event recording to start. I'm expecting that this is because of the onboard image processing and should improve over time with updates.
The IQ was not the previous model to this, it was a higher resolution camera so you are comparing am older higher end, higher resolution model to the newer lower resolution one. You are comparing two different products, you should be comparing the new one to the older one that is of the same model at least or do you normally compare a hatchback to a racing car?
What a disappointment these cameras are. I purchased the doorbell and two cameras. The doorbell does work. With the two cameras, they went through the setup correctly and I saw live video through them but when I finished setting them up I went to view the live feed and they were turned off. I tried to go to "more" to turn them on and the option was ghosted. I could turn the doorbell on and off just fine but the cameras were permanently off. They are both about 12-15 feet from my from my Netgear router and I also tried 5G and even different routers but to no avail. I went through the same process as setting up the doorbell so I don't think I did anything wrong. I just think the cameras wifi circuitry is subpar. Reading other comments on different nest cam (battery) cameras I'm seeing a striking commonality of the cameras inability to connect to wifi. My advice, wait or find something better, or you're taking your chances...
If the wire were not angled forward, users would not be able to aim the camera downward. It's really not that mysterious. It would have been nice to have the connector for the power wire be reversible...but not that big a deal.
I don't feel the two cameras were adequately compared. The IQ does indeed have a 4k sensor, but it's only outputting 1080. The point of the higher resolution(and this was mentioned on the google product page) was that you could zoom in, set it with the IQ and it would have a higher resolution. I suspect the difference would become apparent if you zoomed in both cameras and compared the images.
These Nest cams do seem good, but I just can't get around the fact that Google seems to have designed these outdoor cams for ease of theft, even promoting that they should be mounted just 6ft high. I guess this boosts sales with all the replacements that will be needed. They should have come standard with a more secure anti-theft mounting. Unfortunately a bit too expensive for me to just put out there for someone to walk off with. :(
Thank you for the video as I just got mine and am about to install them but wanted to know if you can get the 24/7 recording option if you have them plugged into solar panels?
The cable is like that as you are likely to have the camera on the wall pointing down. It it were perpendicular then it would point into the wall and stop you positioning the camera near vertical.
I have one of these but I also have the older wired Nest cams. I will say, the wired cams seem to pick up everything. This battery cam has like a 1-2 second delay before picking things up. I like the flexibility of being able to mount it anywhere and the picture is very clear but I don't know about that delay. I was thinking about getting another one since I am in the Google/Nest ecospehere but still trying to decide.
Costco (sometimes?) has the Nest cam battery on sale (the 3-camera multipack was on sale in September 2022). When on sale, it's much cheaper than either Google online or Amazon.
I would be interested to find out how well the magnets stand up to 50-60 mph gusts. Where I live, we get usually one or two big monsoon storms called haboobs (like a dust storm on steroids) and inside the haboob can be gusting up to 60 mph. I'm asking if it would survive one of those storms or if the outside camera should be taken down, so the wind won't knock it down off the magnetic mount.
Your Nest IQ wasn't at the highest quality setting. Might want to redo the comparison, but the IQ maxes out at 1080p. It only fully uses the 4k sensor when you change the zoom setting (not pinch to zoom).
How long does the integrated battery last? Dose it give a warning when the battery is low? Charge time? Can you help please put a link to the anti-theft cable device you featured they don't seem to offer that in the UK. 👍🏻
According to CNET, the battery can last between 1-7 months. Yea, pretty crazy time frame. But there are features in the app for battery saving mode. Also it depends on how active the area is that your monitoring. As for the anti-theft mount, there is a link in the description of the video.
@@SteveDOES More importantly, what about the Battery Life Cycle itself? Meaning, is the battery when it eventually loses capacity, is it replaceable? Or is the camera junk? That's a big deal on the overall value proposition here. While I have experience with the Arlo Ultra 2 (that was returned), the good thing there is, when the battery fails, it's easily replaceable. I'm not seeing the same here, and I think this is something that might be getting glossed over in a lot of reviews. In an outdoor environment, this battery might only last a 18 to 24 months. Then is it a throwaway? That's a big deal. I haven't been able to get a straight answer on this.
Good video. I have the new Nest camera. The power cord is not a problem, despite what the video says. I have to charge mine about every 3 months, with it set on "people" and fairly low people traffic. It takes 5 hours to fully charge. I like the camera. Note, however, it occasionally (but rarely) fails to record a person even in full sunlight, and I can't explain that, but it's happened about once every 2 months. Also, one time when my internet provider crashed and then resumed service, it was a little difficult to get the Nest camera connected again.
We got a single (thus far--about 1 month in use) 'false positive' 'person detected' on our indoor Nest cam battery--probably due to shifting light entering the room from a transom window. No problems with any of our 2 outdoor Nest Cam battery cameras. Our outdoor cameras are also set to 'people'--too many feral cats, raccoons, coyotes, etc. to have 'animal' set for our backyard camera.
Thank you for this review. I agree with the camera quality BUT the battery life is horrible. I live in the mountains of Colorado. The current night temperatures have been 40-50degrees F. I have 2 cameras and both will lose charge to 20% within 3 days. I have the settings to optimize battery life BUT don't like that I have to do that! What will happen when nights are regularly 10 degrees F?? I already caved and bought the $35 weatherproof cable for both cameras. Any suggestions for increasing battery life? Is this just happening to me? Also, I prefer the old Nest AP over using Google Home. The history feature on the Nest Ap was so easier & quicker to use than Google Home.
I'm in Denver and my camera has been up for a month and has only gone down to 26% (started at 85%). I think maybe you should check to see if your camera is turning on constantly due to motion (animals?).
Thank you for the great video. Can you confirm that Google do not have an offocial wired outdoor version of this new cam. Is it ok to leave this 'battery' one wired all the time?
Never considered installing it without using the power cord, having to charge it would be a Pia. Just wired a receptacle in attic and fished the cord through the soffit. The camera clarity is not that good.
I bought this battery-operated camera because I believe my landlord is turning off the power in order to shut down my Blink camera and enter my apartment without permission. I'm a little concerned about the 3 hour window, but once I receive notification of entry, I should be able to save to the cloud or download it on my phone, right? Is there any other advice for the battery-operated use of the Nest? I would plug it in if I'm away for a vacation. This year, 2024, will be my last year in this apartment. If I capture the thief on camera, I plan to use this to break the least and move out!
I have three Outdoor IQ cameras and I need another one. Of course they are discontinued and going for ludicrous amounts on eBay. Even coreded, these battery cams with magnetic mounts seem like a HUGE step back. I'm not at all happy with what Google is doing with their cams and doorbells. I live in a place with extreme winters. You want to kill a battery quickly? Expose it to extreme colds.
Depends on the number of incidents the camera records. Review did not cover the optional accessory of either a 16 or 32 foot long charge cable so can be permanently connected.
I think it’s 3 hours of “recorded” video. Most events are only 15 seconds to maybe 10 minutes long? So taking up 3 hours of recorded time actually goes a long way. Am I wrong on this?
FYI I used a mount and found out that the magnet still has to be on the back of camera or it goes offline! Not happy with that! But understand why its basically an anti-theft precaution.
You can go into settings and adjust the mounting options. Go to Setting> Device Info> Mounting options and click Camera Mount. Then select "Other Mounts".
The power cord…. It juts out away from the wall to reduce water from running into the power port. The design attempts to carry water away from the port instead of towards it.

@@GingersKing yeah dont change to home app, nest app is way better
This camera already comes with anti theft cable that screws into the camera and the loop gets screwed to behind the mount. Works great. Nice review
Mine didn’t. I bought them a year ago but my mother in law just bought hers and they came with the cable
I didn't see any info about recharging. If you install it outdoors, 9 ft. up like in your video... do you have to take it down every few weeks to recharge it or replace batteries?!?1
Please test how well you can see licence plates.
I bet you still can't just like the last version
@@randomhobbies5796 Likely still trash lol
Link below, scroll to middle of page.
store.google.com/product/nest_cam_battery_setup?hl=en-US
Besides the water issue, it also ensures that the camera can have a downward angle without the wire creating an unnecessary limiting angle.
@@jamess7841 Is there a way to view the battery camera on Nest Hub Max? I tell it to stream my doorbell camera a lot and can see if someone is near my door.
How far the Nest camera detect people for notifications in zones ?
?? Can 2 people be on the app to view the cameras at the same time ? Can you answer this for the Arlo also ?? Thanks
@@AltruisticWarrior you can run POE?

Does the Eufy doorbell also automatically pops up on the hub, when the doorbell is pressed?
Did you talk about battery life?
I purchased it and returned it the next day. Not compatible with the nest app only functions on google home. If you have other nest products you have to run both apps. So you loose the features of the Nest app such as: Spaces and scrubbing through video footage.
Hey Steve! Could you do a comparison with the original nest cam outdoor camera? just curious how it stacks up against the battery.
8:31 Mislabeled as "Nest CamIQ" when it is the Nest Cam Outdoor footage. The Nest CamIQ footage starts at 8:36.
Did you say the battery lasts only for 5 hours? Maybe I misunderstood?
the cable points outward so you can angle the camera however you want on the magnetic base.
I think the cable goes forward so as not to impede the angle it can be mounted at?
I read online that the battery version-even if plugged in, doesn't have 24/7 recording. Is this true?
I have 2 NEST IQ cameras on my home now. I need to add a third. Not sure to go with the older NEST or new Battery NEST?? One question, can you keep it plugged in?
Can I use the nest app with this camera?
So if I only ran it on solar it wouldn’t record anything? I can only watch in the app live?
you never mentioned. does it do color night vision?
How can you add the timestamp embedded into the clips after you download them to your cellphone ?
Is there a way to have a chime for the Google cameras when they detect motion just like how ring does it when motion is detected the chime in the home goes off is that possible with Google?
how do you have this (battery unit) be plugged in to be eligible for 24/7 recording ?
So the camera has to be plug in to power in order to get the 24/7 subscription?
Does anyone know if the cable included in the box is weatherproof? I’m planning to drill a hole and run the cable from the inside of the garage where the outlet is located.
how can i schedule turn off and turn on the cam ?
Is the a POE cable you would recommend? Thank you for this review.
I just purchased the new nest outdoor battery it's fine except while watching the history it has event details, full history, and time line guides on the screen while the recording plays and it blocks you from seeing the parts of the recording how do I remove this from showing on the screen while trying to veiw a recording
I am building a new home and planned to install cat5 to outdoor camera locations which would allow me to buy POE cameras. I’ve watched all of your camera reviews but have not seen any that support Poe. Can you recommend any? Solar and or 110v just doesn’t meet my needs
Does it do color at night if it has floodlight?

Great review but I dont think I heard anything regarding the life of the battery - How long does it last - Every system of this kind ( battery powered) have limited life duration. What is the estimated life duration of the battery for this unit? thanks
The side by side was great ! The new camera was much nicer. Only negative is that it doesn’t pick up colors at night time. Speaking from the law enforcement experience it would be nice that it had color to pickup clothing if someone breaks in or does anything suspicious around your house.
Yea, if Wyze can do it on their $35, i wanted to see this camera do that too. :)
Does it cover with a sleeve to cover the white for additional weather coverage? thanks for sharing
is this 3 hours of continuous recoding, or up to 3 hours of recorded events?
Great video. Got a question, 3 hours of free video means you literallly have 3 hrs to catch an event before its auto deleted forever? Might be hard to catch an incident within 3 hrs.
when you do the walk back you should hold up a collection of numbers similar to a license plate...
Yea I need to take a page from LifeHackster and get a custom plate for these tests. :)
Why doesn't is use the native nest app?
i dont know that much about cameras but an operating temperature of -4 to 104 degrees F seems kind of bad for something meant to be used outdoors 24/7... isn't it going to be more than 104 degrees pretty regularly in warm climates in direct sunlight?... same for climates where it snows
My nest camera is hard wired why is the battery dead and not showing on the app??
If you are using it outdoors without the power cord, do you need to protect the connection port on the camera?
Any updates on battery life in your backyard with birds, kids, dogs, wind?
How long does the charge last before needing to recharge? Also, how long does it take to recharge? Otherwise great info!
I'm using one now on our front door. On average (for us) with default settings it is using about 2.75% a day pretty consistently. Battery time ? Before charging?
My Eufy cams have been up for 11 months and still have about 20% charge left in both. I also have six Blink outdoor cams and two mini indoor Blink. They’re holding up great too. I just wish Blink would have geofencing. That’s one feature I really like with Nest. Thanks for the great reviews. Can’t wait to get my Google Doorbell now.
@@PGD39able that’s a pretty good setup you have there. :)
How’s the delay before it starts recording? I have Arlo right now and it is about a 2 or 3 second delay to start recording.
The Nest Cam Battery replaced the Nest Cam IQ in the Google Nest lineup.
How often do you have to charge it?
Power cable angle may be like that for ease of charging.
If the wire were not angled forward, users would not be able to aim the camera downward.
It's really not that mysterious.
It would have been nice to have the connector for the power wire be reversible...but not that big a deal.
And if you use it on the indoor mount for fulltime power, the cord would be interfering with the indoor mount if it pointed to the back of the camera.
maybe you can buy a theft proof case that encloses the camera and hides the cable.
How does it fair in a power outage?
I have one of these but I also have the older wired Nest cams. I will say, the wired cams seem to pick up everything. This battery cam has like a 1-2 second delay before picking things up. I like the flexibility of being able to mount it anywhere and the picture is very clear but I don't know about that delay. I was thinking about getting another one since I am in the Google/Nest ecospehere but still trying to decide.
Costco (sometimes?) has the Nest cam battery on sale (the 3-camera multipack was on sale in September 2022). When on sale, it's much cheaper than either Google online or Amazon.
What on earth is that power cable?
I would be interested to find out how well the magnets stand up to 50-60 mph gusts. Where I live, we get usually one or two big monsoon storms called haboobs (like a dust storm on steroids) and inside the haboob can be gusting up to 60 mph. I'm asking if it would survive one of those storms or if the outside camera should be taken down, so the wind won't knock it down off the magnetic mount.
Magnet is pretty powerful, but you can simply pull the camera off the base.
I live on the ocean like aka ocean blvd in the south and I have a nest cam outdoor and it went through two hurricanes
Your Nest IQ wasn't at the highest quality setting. Might want to redo the comparison, but the IQ maxes out at 1080p. It only fully uses the 4k sensor when you change the zoom setting (not pinch to zoom).
What did you think of the battery life of the camera?
1080p is absolutely fine. Its battery powered, if it was 1440p or 4K the battery life would suck.
As long as you don't need to read license plates and other various details on clothing.
Hi thank you for you review! I wonder the nest subscription is for all cameras or just for one camera. Thank you
How long does the integrated battery last? Dose it give a warning when the battery is low? Charge time?

According to CNET, the battery can last between 1-7 months. Yea, pretty crazy time frame. But there are features in the app for battery saving mode. Also it depends on how active the area is that your monitoring. As for the anti-theft mount, there is a link in the description of the video.
@@SteveDOES Thanks Steve👍🏻
So if you stick it inside your window pointing out won't it still work, so need to have it outside so someone can knock it out
How far can you install these cameras before losing the WiFi connection?
Induction charging jumps to mine but I'm sure they exhausted that option
Thats the nature of battery powered surveillance camera. I always have mine wired and dont have the hassle of charging it.
Thank you for the great video. Can you confirm that Google do not have an offocial wired outdoor version of this new cam. Is it ok to leave this 'battery' one wired all the time?
yes, in fact for 24/7 sub, you need to have the wire in at all times
It sucks for 24/7 recording. Even plugged in, the battery cant keep up.
Never considered installing it without using the power cord, having to charge it would be a Pia. Just wired a receptacle in attic and fished the cord through the soffit. The camera clarity is not that good.
Steve, but the way, I LOVE the way you do your reviews. Keep up the good work.

Hey, great review. How long does the battery go on full charge?
Depends on the number of incidents the camera records. Review did not cover the optional accessory of either a 16 or 32 foot long charge cable so can be permanently connected.

The power cord…. It juts out away from the wall to reduce water from running into the power port. The design attempts to carry water away from the port instead of towards it.
