@@ajshitshed the CPUs never actually finish the race, the game just makes up times for them xD it's very silly loool, and also sorry for the delay on this!
Which one's the worst case that has the most visibility of rubberbanding? I knew 64 also had this watching a TAS run of that, but didn't know GBA also did, too.
i know right!! lool, i remember calculating what the average time for a race was in this TAS and i think it's like 8-9 seconds, so yeah a lot of them end up feeling so much slower xD

really sick video, i've known how crazy this game is for a while but had yet to see a TAS of it before today! the notes on the left are real nice for this
as someone who grew up with MKSC and loves the game to death, this was a really fun and informative watch! if i had to guess why DP3 and MC4 did not get that "finish line not extending into the wall" issue fixed while KB2 did, it's probably because the finish line must align (specifically horizontally?) with a 2x2-tile grid just like in SMK, starting and ending at the exact edges of tiles. (this is a guess because i don't know much about MKSC's internals, but it does seem like a lot of track logic carried over from SMK, and it was the case in that game) if the finish line extended into the wall on those two tracks, you'd be able to complete a lap by bumping into the wall from the other side instead. KB2 doesn't have that issue because you cannot reach the other side of the wall normally, thus it was fixable without changing the actual track tilemap
ohh yeah that does make sense- good idea! interestingly enough you can still make it to the other side on KB2 but it requires much more shenanigans than the other ones :P im really glad you liked the video!!! it's always fun to see dedicated fans of the game :) not common!
I'm glad you included commentary alongside the footage; it helps explain what's going on without being intrusive, which is much appreciated. Also, I had to do a double take when Peach Circuit was completed in a matter of seconds; I had no idea it could be beaten that fast!
Also I had a time trial 0.03 lap idea on rDP3, I you could probably get stuck in between the 2 block wide wall by using the bounce pad on the first bridge. I have not done it yet but I am trying. I use the Nintendo switch online rewind tool ALOT in mksc but it only saves your state ever 1.5 seconds.

Either way, terrific video! The Sky Garden clip in particular made me gush.

thanks!! and great question :) it's basically because, since 60 frames don't divide evenly into 100 digits, some frames add "01 to the timer and some add "02. so "03 and "04 laps are both 2 frames long, the "03 has an "01 and an "02 frame, and the "04 has two "02 frames. it's sadly not possible to get two "01 frames in a row, so a "02 lap is not possible
Fantastic TAS and loved the explanations! Just curious, is there a link to this game’s item probability tables? Could never find one for this game. I find it bonkers that 1st place can get triple greens!

if the TAS uses bananas to make them go mach speed, and assuming its mostly due to the slipping, why not use other slipping items like a shell? Just curious, idk if its a dumb question.
no worries it's a good question! it turns out the other items just have a different kind of spinout that just doesn't work. this is also the same for the puddles on luigi circuit and the ice on snow land, they just don't work apparently. if it helps, this has nothing to do with going extremely fast, the key is the banana spinout makes you stick to the wall. sadly if you hit a shell or puddle or ice or something, you'll bounce off the wall instead of sticking i hope that helps! feel free to ask more questions if you like :)
@@Nickels11 yep it's a different spinout 👍 other obstacles that give the same spinout are the rats on cheese land, the penguins on snow land, the fireballs on the nitro bowser castle tracks, the mechakoopas on bowser castle 4, the meteors on lakeside park, and the crabs on shy guy beach and cheep cheep island. none of those are actually useful though except for the banana and the cheese land rats 👍 i hope that helps!
Sometimes I wonder... did they use the same engine from SMK to make Super Circuit? There seems to be a lot of tricks and bugs that have carried over to this game from SMK now that I'm watching this TAS.
I feel like Ambassador Foxx from TAS Rats (formerly TAS Force) in that one video where he was getting angry at Toad for cheating in Mario Kart 64. (I'm not actually angry at this. I'm just in disbelief at this exploit.)
ah yep! it was mentioned but sorry it passed so quickly 😅 toad has the fastest acceleration, which is useful for every time we stop and turn around. peach has the tightest drifting and is slightly faster than toad overall, the drifting was important for cheese land and bowser castle 2, and none of the tracks in the flower cup need the acceleration 👍 i hope that helps!
good question! once you have them unlocked you just push either of the shoulder buttons (L or R), but first you have to unlock them, which is really tough step 1: unlock special cup by getting a gold trophy in each other cup (i think any cc will do) step 2: pick any nitro cup and get gold in 150cc (i think it's 150cc, but i don't remember) step 3: play that cup again and collect 100 coins (this is cumulatively throughout all 4 tracks, retrying makes you lose the coins you collected in that race, coins do not accumulate across multiple grand prix's), you do not have to get gold on this playthrough after the final step, you will unlock the corresponding "extra" cup for whatever cup you chose. do that on all 5 cups and you will unlock all the SNES tracks! it is a very long process i hope this helps!
the fastest course in the run was donut plains 1, it has the fastest time in the game than any other course :) the fastest course for me to TAS was probably either ghost valley 3 or retro rainbow road, in ghost valley 3i remember lap 1 taking a whole but the rest of the race worked out very nicely, and retro rainbow road is definitely the easiest to TAS on its own, it's mostly just copying the same inputs each lap, optimizing it wasn't very difficult either
in this case it's because the glitch on koopa beach 2 only works on the japanese version. in general though, sometimes for other games text scrolling impacts time, and japanese often has the shortest text. sometimes it's just cause the player is japanese, and sometimes it's just for aesthetic :P i hope that helps!
Gotta love how the rubberbanding makes the ai set insane times lmao

500th view LMAO, as a fan of this game it's awesome to see a TAS like this!
yooo awesome dude!! thanks for the view :O and yay im glad you liked it and are such a fan of the game!!!
I feel like Ambassador Foxx from TAS Rats (formerly TAS Force) in that one video where he was getting angry at Toad for cheating in Mario Kart 64.
(I'm not actually angry at this. I'm just in disbelief at this exploit.)
loool no worries i getcha xD yeah screw toad for goin so fast!
Jesus christ this is just unbelievable
heck yeah!! thanks cailyn :D
Yeye you're welcome! :D
This tas guy is insanely skilled!
so true!! lol :)
I would love to see a nmg version of this tas seeing (retro) Mario circuit 1 be a 9 second full lap just because Turing around was slow was also fun
yeah it would be cool! you should definitely watch su's TAS then if you haven't, ive got it linked in the description 👍
The banana is my favorite item to troll with in Mario Kart. >=]
heck yeah! mine too 😎
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel Amazing speedrun. I did not know bananas could be used like that to trick the game.
@@noble_wine thanks!! yeah it's crazy lool
GG, this was interesting

Great TAS! Would you be willing to share a .bk2 file? I would like to try to replay this on an actual GBA.
is there a reason why toad and peach are picked? I saw why yoshi was. I probably missed the text that said it but, I was still curious!
ah yep! it was mentioned but sorry it passed so quickly 😅 toad has the fastest acceleration, which is useful for every time we stop and turn around. peach has the tightest drifting and is slightly faster than toad overall, the drifting was important for cheese land and bowser castle 2, and none of the tracks in the flower cup need the acceleration 👍
i hope that helps!
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel thanks for taking your time to inform me! awesome video too :)
@@Clouditivity aw thanks!! im really glad you like it :) and no problem!!
when the rubber band snaps at mach 4 lol
yeah lool, the CPUs are on cope 😩
Nice TAS! I've tried practicing the banana glitch in Mario GP, but it still hasn't worked out yet 😅Must be really tricky.
thanks!! yeah it's tough, you have to hit the wall very precisely where it touches the finish line
if you keep trying you'll get it! 💪🔥
Say, how do you access the Retro Tracks for this game? What buttons do I have to press?
good question! once you have them unlocked you just push either of the shoulder buttons (L or R), but first you have to unlock them, which is really tough
step 1: unlock special cup by getting a gold trophy in each other cup (i think any cc will do)
step 2: pick any nitro cup and get gold in 150cc (i think it's 150cc, but i don't remember)
step 3: play that cup again and collect 100 coins (this is cumulatively throughout all 4 tracks, retrying makes you lose the coins you collected in that race, coins do not accumulate across multiple grand prix's), you do not have to get gold on this playthrough
after the final step, you will unlock the corresponding "extra" cup for whatever cup you chose. do that on all 5 cups and you will unlock all the SNES tracks! it is a very long process
i hope this helps!
Oh my… yeah this helps, I’m going to tear all my hair out. XD
Thank you!
Nice TAS!
Pd: Bismuth is very broken in this game.
ayy thanks!! your joke took me a second xD but i get it!
that was wild wtf
hell yeah thank you!!
Toad Assisted Speedrun
yes! lol :) goat browser
Great job with this TAS, thanks for share it.
yoo thanks!! im glad you like it :D
"oh im excited to see how this first race go-"
*hits wall a bunch*
*profit*
✨profit✨
Is that banana glitch japan exclusive or tas only
nope and nope! it's not easy but you can definitely do it with some practice :) and you can do it on any version of the game 🙌🔥
The chese land only Was 3 second
indeed 🤯
That was intense on boo lake
indeed! i like watching that one back :) some cool strats there
Weird but In a Cool Way
heck yeah! just what im going for 😎 lol, thanks!!
This was insane. If you blinked you missed two whole races. Excellent use of tool assist
yoo thanks!! im glad i could make an entertaining TAS :)
Are you planning to submit this to TASVideos?
ah yeah! i should get on that at some point, lol :)
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel ok good to know. Let me know if you have any questions if you have problems submitting.
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel It's been a couple months. Are you having issues submitting or you're too busy?
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel it's been about six months... Is everything alright?
@@dekutony hello! sorry, yeah just been too lazy i guess. not sure when ill get to it
Love this game
same!
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ON PEACH CIRCUIT
banana!!!
You can skip an entire race, BY USING A BANANA??
ikr!! it's so crazy loool
Is the banana trick possible without TAS? thanks
yep it's possible humanly! not super difficult either :)
Which track was the fastest and which one was the easiest? (I am mad at wario, but he caused a better time)
the fastest course in the run was donut plains 1, it has the fastest time in the game than any other course :)
the fastest course for me to TAS was probably either ghost valley 3 or retro rainbow road, in ghost valley 3i remember lap 1 taking a whole but the rest of the race worked out very nicely, and retro rainbow road is definitely the easiest to TAS on its own, it's mostly just copying the same inputs each lap, optimizing it wasn't very difficult either
Mario Kart Advance is my 2nd favorite Mario Kart game. Wish they had Donkey Kong Jr. instead of Donkey Kong.
ah nice! idk tho DK is pretty sick haha
You said this isn't flawless, but what time would a perfect TAS have? Sub 30 possible?
hm, maybe! that would need something like ~.25 timesave on average per track, i think that could be possible! :)
interesting question!
How come all WR Vids are on JP games?
in this case it's because the glitch on koopa beach 2 only works on the japanese version. in general though, sometimes for other games text scrolling impacts time, and japanese often has the shortest text. sometimes it's just cause the player is japanese, and sometimes it's just for aesthetic :P
i hope that helps!
0'00'04 second lap?!
@@owenmillichip3404 yep!!
B A N A N A
Lakitu got fired after this
hell yeah loool
7:46 Yeah this is normal
yes indeed! haha :)
At which adress in memory does the item roulette cycle?
good question! i never actually ended up finding that one, when i was TASing i just relied on just trial and error
Good thing they patched Koopa Beach 2 for the international releases, otherwise this game would have been totally broken!
i know right LOL xD
Literally every race takes like 2 seconds to finish 🤣
yeah xD it's a great game!!
aurora borealis
at this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!
what did he mean by this
