Gotta love how the rubberbanding makes the ai set insane times lmao
yeah lool those times are so crazy xD
i kinda wanna see what the full race would look like. everythings normal for 5 seconds and then suddenly everyone starts going at mach speed
the ai is out there gonna submit flawless times that im gonna be jealous of
@@ajshitshed the CPUs never actually finish the race, the game just makes up times for them xD it's very silly loool, and also sorry for the delay on this!
never before i thought i would ever see a 12 second race and go "man this one is really taking a while."
i know right!! lool, i remember calculating what the average time for a race was in this TAS and i think it's like 8-9 seconds, so yeah a lot of them end up feeling so much slower xD
I absolutely adore the recurring Mario Kart TAS pattern of "bonk into a wall a bunch and you beat the race really fast" for the first three games
Also I heavily appreciate the commentary, it makes TASes of games I'm not familiar with far more interesting in my opinion.
aww yay im glad the commentary was useful! it's nice to know what's going on when you're not as familiar with the game :) and yeah! i love all the wall bonking lool
i love the explanations to the left during the tas, rlly helps people who r newer 2 the game understand what's going on. great tas!
aa yay thank you!! im glad they were helpful :D
This TAS was Bananas! :p
Seriously though, this was incredible to watch. Thank you so much for making it
aaaa i was so happy to see you there for the premiere!!! im really really glad you liked it so much it means a lot to me :D
Was the pun intended?
@@DittoGTI hope so
"wanna see how hard i can slam my face into this brick wall? wanna see me do it again?"
SPEED!
TAS commentary is invaluable. Great job with this
aah thanks!! im glad you like it so much :D
3:49 Longest track in the TAS takes 34s made me laugh so hard
hahaaaa heck yeah xD im glad i could still make it so fast!! 💪🔥 and also make you laugh :D
I can't wait 9 hours no more, I've been searching for a skips tas for 2 years
really sick video, i've known how crazy this game is for a while but had yet to see a TAS of it before today! the notes on the left are real nice for this
aaaaa thank you so much!!! im really glad i could fulfill that for you :) and im really glad you liked the notes i made too!!!
Amazing job, the layout is perfect and the explanations are very informative
AA thank you leo!!! im really glad i did a good job with the layout and the commentary :D
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel You can be proud of yourself :)
Wow! The execution was awesome! I am so glad I got to (kinda) give you advice with that banana glitch!
Also I had a time trial 0.03 lap idea on rDP3, I you could probably get stuck in between the 2 block wide wall by using the bounce pad on the first bridge. I have not done it yet but I am trying. I use the Nintendo switch online rewind tool ALOT in mksc but it only saves your state ever 1.5 seconds.
thanks! yeah you definitely guessed what was gonna happen lol :) im glad you liked it!!!
also yeah, ive thought about that course as well, i haven't been able to get something like that to work but it feels like it ought to.. i need to learn more about how wall collision works
honestly, it'd be sick of all TAS videos had text that explained every trick
really awesome video
yeah agreed! it's always nice to know what's going on, especially with TASes where everything is so high-level, there's a big knowledge gap to be bridged and i think it was very much worth the effort since everyone seems to enjoy it so much :D
thanks!! ^^
Nice TAS! The explanations to the left were very helpful. The entire run was bonkers (pun intended)! Thank you for this 😁
lool nice pun! and thanks!! im glad you liked it :D
Yes please!
I'm glad you included commentary alongside the footage; it helps explain what's going on without being intrusive, which is much appreciated. Also, I had to do a double take when Peach Circuit was completed in a matter of seconds; I had no idea it could be beaten that fast!
thanks!! im glad i could fulfill that :) and yeah lool, it's super surprising when you don't know about the glitch xD
I expected almost nothing in this run but wow that was so fun! A lot of cool strats and I can tell this took a lot of planning to make, really great job!
aa im so glad!! im so glad i could incorporate so many strats despite most of the tracks being so similar xD
as someone who grew up with MKSC and loves the game to death, this was a really fun and informative watch!
if i had to guess why DP3 and MC4 did not get that "finish line not extending into the wall" issue fixed while KB2 did, it's probably because the finish line must align (specifically horizontally?) with a 2x2-tile grid just like in SMK, starting and ending at the exact edges of tiles. (this is a guess because i don't know much about MKSC's internals, but it does seem like a lot of track logic carried over from SMK, and it was the case in that game)
if the finish line extended into the wall on those two tracks, you'd be able to complete a lap by bumping into the wall from the other side instead. KB2 doesn't have that issue because you cannot reach the other side of the wall normally, thus it was fixable without changing the actual track tilemap
ohh yeah that does make sense- good idea! interestingly enough you can still make it to the other side on KB2 but it requires much more shenanigans than the other ones :P
im really glad you liked the video!!! it's always fun to see dedicated fans of the game :) not common!
Yeah baby. You can play like a TAS . Very impressive. Nice tas imath, i really enjoyed the explanations next to the gameplay
holy moly! thank you :O im really glad you enjoyed it!!!
I really love the controller inputs shown and the commentary. really well done TAS and video.
ah thank you!! yeah im really glad the controller inputs and commentary helped :) i think they turned out really nice!
Great TAS Rob! I love how the RTA time is more than 3x the IGT.
thanks so much JCP!! yeah lool the menuing and cutscenes lose so much loool
GOATed Game gets a GOATed TAS, ya love to see it.
heck yeah thank you GOATed commenter!! :D 💪🔥
Awesome run and awesome idea of putting commentary in each track of the TAS. I really enjoyed the video, thanks for rhe upload!
aww thanks!!! im really glad i could provide a good run and good commentary :)
I love how broken this game can get lol. This was awesome to watch!
yeah!!! ive always wanted to showcase the broken-ness of the bananas (as well as the rest of the game), im really glad you enjoyed it so much!! :D
This was such a cool TAS! Who would've known bananas were so broken in this game? Also, it's crazy to me that you didn't get 3 star rankings for all of the retro cups. I thought I was the only one who had a hard time getting good rankings in those cups, but I guess speedrunners do, too. 😆
ayy thank you so much!!! yeah the ranking system is pretty tough, if you're not a top player is really hard to get triple stars on all the cups 😩🙏
I never realized the humble banana was secretly the most overpowered item in the game when used correctly LOL. This TAS is awesome!🤣
ikr? loool, thank you so much!!!
Oh hi I wasn't expecting to see you here!
@@DittoGTI Howdy!😂 I enjoy watching all kinds of stuff including broken TASes so yeah videos like this are something I enjoy watching.
@@JSoldierPro Fair enough, I also enjoy watching stupid tases. Just to clarify by stupid I mean stupidly quick
i didnt know this game was this broken omg
yeah!! it doesn't get as much press as most of the other MK games so im glad i could do it some justice :)
This was pretty cool to watch O: Congrats!
aah thank you so much MKDasher!! I love your SM64 and SM64DS TASes as well :O im glad i could impress you!
The shortcuts and strats are so awesome for super circuit and seeing all the fastest skips put into one run like this is incredible, amazing job!
yeah they're so awesome!!! im glad i could showcase them for ya and everyone else!! :D
thank you!!!
Toad: *inhale* I’m Speed boi! Peach: that’s including us too.
yeah lool, toad definitely stole the show xD
Gotta love the cutscene to gameplay ratio
yeah lool, it's ridiculous how racing is less than a third of the run
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful TAS. Optimal or not, it was super fun to watch and I am amazed by how broken some of my childhood games can be. Good show!
aww thanks!! yeah im glad i didn't worry too much about it being totally flawless, and im glad you appreciate it :)
No way I had absolutely no idea the banana glitch could be done on almost all tracks haha
yeah!! it's so crazy xD
It also surprised me seeing the banana glitch. 😂
Amazing tas tysm for making this
yay!! im so glad you liked it :D
Great job with this TAS, thanks for share it.
yoo thanks!! im glad you like it :D
What is this timeline where the banana is the most broken item in Mario kart history 😂
i know right looool we live in the craziest timeline xD
Really great TAS video especially with the commentary
ahh thanks!! im really glad you like it :)
incredible work.
i already knew Su TAS, but this is awesome thanks to the on screen rich description.
On a tech side, the game is known to avoid certain hundreths on race time (but not on lap time).
I’ve been always puzzled by this fact.
lap skips are either of 0.03 or 0.04: it must be an hint.
Do you know exactly how it works?
And since the last lap time must be adjusted by the game to avoid certain hundreths, does it subtract or does it add 1 hundreth to the last lap?
this could be useful for the fast lap time attack (better to do on early laps or on the last one?).
good question! indeed many decimals are avoided
this is because, due to the 100 decimals not dividing evenly into 60 frames per second, some frames are "01 long and some are "02 long. specifically, the game alternates with one "01 frame then two "02 frames.
so "03 and "04 are both 2 frames long, just with different lengths of frames
edit: this is also why the game avoids certain ending decimals, if you follow this pattern the ending decimal will never land on 2, 4, 7, or 9
This is the best TAS in MKSC history. :)
aa thank you!!! i did my best for yall 🙏♥️
I appreciate that you leave comments on how stuff works and how did you achieve such feats, it's very interesting!
Thank you!
ah yay im so glad you like it!! thank you :D
I didn't know you TAS, this is cool
yoooo thank you!!! im glad you appreciate it :) yeah i play a lot more than i TAS but i've done some TASing in this game :)
hello, i am your 1000th sub
your tas runs are awesome
ah that's awesome thanks!!! and im really glad you enjoy my TASes :D
Crazy how the TAS spends just as much time waiting as it does racing.
yeah! the cutscenes take so long lool
Because who needs to drive laps anyways?
exactly!! 💪🔥
Nice TAS!
aa thank you firewaster!!! im really glad you liked it :) it was great to see you at the premiere!!
For the longest time I had no idea that hidden stats (Peach having the highest drift, Yoshi having weird turning, etc.) existed in Super Circuit, so I was always very bewildered when I saw older TAS videos use seemingly random choices like Luigi and Donkey Kong. Your annotations give a lot of clarity on why certain characters are used which is great! Is there any resource where these things can be found or do you just kind of find them out yourself?
Either way, terrific video! The Sky Garden clip in particular made me gush.
aww yay im glad!! and hm, i don't know if any really good concise list of all the character stats, i personally just learned them from asking other people xD here's a synopsis of everyone i know about:
Bowser: highest top speed, lowest in everything else
DK: a bit slower than Bowser but much better drifting, and better steering
Wario: not really useful for anything in particular so i haven't explored much, but ive heard he recovers well if you run into a wall without a boost. in general has similar stats to Bowser
Luigi: tightest steering
Mario: also not useful for anything afaik, but similar stats to luigi
Peach: tightest drifting, pretty slow
Toad: highest acceleration, slowest top speed
Yoshi: weird drifting, pretty slow
ill add a quick sidenote that regardless of each character's top speed, they all go the same speed in a mushroom boost. but yeah i don't have all the details of stats, but i at least have the knowledge i used to pick which one to use for TASes xD
and yeah!! im glad you like sky garden lool :) it felt so satisfying when i first found that trick at the end
What a beautiful TAS of the first video game I ever played. Skipless TAS when?
ayy thank you!! skipless TAS would be very interesting, would take a lot more effort, maybe it will happen some day in the future
500th view LMAO, as a fan of this game it's awesome to see a TAS like this!
yooo awesome dude!! thanks for the view :O and yay im glad you liked it and are such a fan of the game!!!
I would love to see a nmg version of this tas seeing (retro) Mario circuit 1 be a 9 second full lap just because Turing around was slow was also fun
yeah it would be cool! you should definitely watch su's TAS then if you haven't, ive got it linked in the description 👍
Fantastic TAS and loved the explanations! Just curious, is there a link to this game’s item probability tables? Could never find one for this game. I find it bonkers that 1st place can get triple greens!
ayy thanks so much!! indeed item tables are hard to come by for this game, this is the best that i know of

Today we learn that they forgot to program the finish line extensions for the last 2 cups it seems
yeah loool, really strange
Say, how do you access the Retro Tracks for this game? What buttons do I have to press?
good question! once you have them unlocked you just push either of the shoulder buttons (L or R), but first you have to unlock them, which is really tough
step 1: unlock special cup by getting a gold trophy in each other cup (i think any cc will do)
step 2: pick any nitro cup and get gold in 150cc (i think it's 150cc, but i don't remember)
step 3: play that cup again and collect 100 coins (this is cumulatively throughout all 4 tracks, retrying makes you lose the coins you collected in that race, coins do not accumulate across multiple grand prix's), you do not have to get gold on this playthrough
after the final step, you will unlock the corresponding "extra" cup for whatever cup you chose. do that on all 5 cups and you will unlock all the SNES tracks! it is a very long process
i hope this helps!
Oh my… yeah this helps, I’m going to tear all my hair out. XD
Thank you!
I CAN’T WAIT 25 HOURS RAAGHHHH
I feel like Ambassador Foxx from TAS Rats (formerly TAS Force) in that one video where he was getting angry at Toad for cheating in Mario Kart 64.
(I'm not actually angry at this. I'm just in disbelief at this exploit.)
loool no worries i getcha xD yeah screw toad for goin so fast!
Jesus christ this is just unbelievable
heck yeah!! thanks cailyn :D
Yeye you're welcome! :D
This tas guy is insanely skilled!
so true!! lol :)
The banana is my favorite item to troll with in Mario Kart. >=]
heck yeah! mine too 😎
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel Amazing speedrun. I did not know bananas could be used like that to trick the game.
@@noble_wine thanks!! yeah it's crazy lool
Great TAS! Would you be willing to share a .bk2 file? I would like to try to replay this on an actual GBA.
is there a reason why toad and peach are picked? I saw why yoshi was. I probably missed the text that said it but, I was still curious!
ah yep! it was mentioned but sorry it passed so quickly 😅 toad has the fastest acceleration, which is useful for every time we stop and turn around. peach has the tightest drifting and is slightly faster than toad overall, the drifting was important for cheese land and bowser castle 2, and none of the tracks in the flower cup need the acceleration 👍
i hope that helps!
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel thanks for taking your time to inform me! awesome video too :)
@@Clouditivity aw thanks!! im really glad you like it :) and no problem!!
Toad Assisted Speedrun
yes! lol :) goat browser
badass tas
yooo thanks jayu!!! :D
Love this game
same!
when the rubber band snaps at mach 4 lol
yeah lool, the CPUs are on cope 😩
ぶっ壊れの域を遥かに超えている
はい xD
if the TAS uses bananas to make them go mach speed, and assuming its mostly due to the slipping, why not use other slipping items like a shell?
Just curious, idk if its a dumb question.
no worries it's a good question! it turns out the other items just have a different kind of spinout that just doesn't work. this is also the same for the puddles on luigi circuit and the ice on snow land, they just don't work apparently.
if it helps, this has nothing to do with going extremely fast, the key is the banana spinout makes you stick to the wall. sadly if you hit a shell or puddle or ice or something, you'll bounce off the wall instead of sticking
i hope that helps! feel free to ask more questions if you like :)
So the banana is worth it because it has a special spinout?@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel
@@NickelEyes11 yep it's a different spinout 👍 other obstacles that give the same spinout are the rats on cheese land, the penguins on snow land, the fireballs on the nitro bowser castle tracks, the mechakoopas on bowser castle 4, the meteors on lakeside park, and the crabs on shy guy beach and cheep cheep island.
none of those are actually useful though except for the banana and the cheese land rats 👍 i hope that helps!
"oh im excited to see how this first race go-"
*hits wall a bunch*
*profit*
✨profit✨
nice
thanks!
Is the banana trick possible without TAS? thanks
Sometimes I wonder... did they use the same engine from SMK to make Super Circuit?
There seems to be a lot of tricks and bugs that have carried over to this game from SMK now that I'm watching this TAS.
it seems that way! the driving physics are very similar :)
that was wild wtf
hell yeah thank you!!
At which adress in memory does the item roulette cycle?
good question! i never actually ended up finding that one, when i was TASing i just relied on just trial and error
You said this isn't flawless, but what time would a perfect TAS have? Sub 30 possible?
hm, maybe! that would need something like ~.25 timesave on average per track, i think that could be possible! :)
interesting question!
Nice TAS! I've tried practicing the banana glitch in Mario GP, but it still hasn't worked out yet 😅Must be really tricky.
thanks!! yeah it's tough, you have to hit the wall very precisely where it touches the finish line
if you keep trying you'll get it! 💪🔥
Is there a reason why some of the banana times are either 0.3 or 0.4 for the last digits?
Also great tas!
thanks!! and great question :) it's basically because, since 60 frames don't divide evenly into 100 digits, some frames add "01 to the timer and some add "02. so "03 and "04 laps are both 2 frames long, the "03 has an "01 and an "02 frame, and the "04 has two "02 frames. it's sadly not possible to get two "01 frames in a row, so a "02 lap is not possible
That was intense on boo lake
indeed! i like watching that one back :) some cool strats there
Which track was the fastest and which one was the easiest? (I am mad at wario, but he caused a better time)
the fastest course in the run was donut plains 1, it has the fastest time in the game than any other course :)
the fastest course for me to TAS was probably either ghost valley 3 or retro rainbow road, in ghost valley 3i remember lap 1 taking a whole but the rest of the race worked out very nicely, and retro rainbow road is definitely the easiest to TAS on its own, it's mostly just copying the same inputs each lap, optimizing it wasn't very difficult either
0:54 Who said MK7 introduced underwater driving, again?
haha true!! MKSC was truly revolutionary :) lol
Weird but In a Cool Way
heck yeah! just what im going for 😎 lol, thanks!!
Nice TAS!
Pd: Bismuth is very broken in this game.
ayy thanks!! your joke took me a second xD but i get it!
Is that banana glitch japan exclusive or tas only
nope and nope! it's not easy but you can definitely do it with some practice :) and you can do it on any version of the game 🙌🔥
How come all WR Vids are on JP games?
in this case it's because the glitch on koopa beach 2 only works on the japanese version. in general though, sometimes for other games text scrolling impacts time, and japanese often has the shortest text. sometimes it's just cause the player is japanese, and sometimes it's just for aesthetic :P
i hope that helps!
Are you planning to submit this to TASVideos?
ah yeah! i should get on that at some point, lol :)
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel ok good to know. Let me know if you have any questions if you have problems submitting.
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel It's been a couple months. Are you having issues submitting or you're too busy?
7:46 Yeah this is normal
yes indeed! haha :)
Mario Kart Advance is my 2nd favorite Mario Kart game. Wish they had Donkey Kong Jr. instead of Donkey Kong.
ah nice! idk tho DK is pretty sick haha
Good thing they patched Koopa Beach 2 for the international releases, otherwise this game would have been totally broken!
i know right LOL xD
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ON PEACH CIRCUIT
banana!!!
The chese land only Was 3 second
indeed 🤯
This was insane. If you blinked you missed two whole races. Excellent use of tool assist
yoo thanks!! im glad i could make an entertaining TAS :)
aurora borealis
at this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!
what did he mean by this
Literally every race takes like 2 seconds to finish 🤣
yeah xD it's a great game!!
Wow, what's that weird thing going on in the background of the credits? It looks NOTHING like what's been going on during the game...
LOL true! i think the devs messed up there.. they don't even know how the gameplay is supposed to look smh
You can skip an entire race, BY USING A BANANA??
ikr!! it's so crazy loool
Question -- Do you like MKSC more than MKDS? Hot take, I think SC is way better! The characters have way more personality despite being 2D; the soundtrack is way more moving IMO; and MKSC does something no other MK game does, being changing time of day during races (Boo Lake, Sunset Wilds [most famously], Lakeside Park). It also introduced the very concept of Retro Tracks. I don't understand why everybody says it's DS that introduced them. Sure, SC only had the SNES tracks and DS has more variety, but the Retro Tracks present in DS were often stripped of many shortcuts (most infamously GCN Mushroom Bridge). I'm personally way more of a Super Circuit guy.
ah yeah that's fair! the world definitely needs more MKSC lovers 💪🔥 i do love the soundtrack and the sunset and volcano action on those tracks. to be honest, i never noticed the thing on boo lake until you mentioned it here lool, that's cool!
i definitely agree that MKSC deserves the credit for introducing retro courses, im surprised by how many people seem to say that it was MKDS
i love both games, im definitely a lot better at MKSC so i probably prefer that one, but MKDS time trials are probably my favourites to watch at top level- i wish i were better at that game as well xD
both really great games 💪🔥
MKDS is too overrated, MKSC the opposite
@@DittoGTI I totally agree! Are you one of those guys that did play MKSC but not DS? I first played DS on a DS mega card, but when I received MKSC for my... I think, 15th birthday or something, I came to love MKSC way better than DS and it became apparent what DS didn't have or didn't do right compared to abgame that's four whole years older than it.
@@LaySuperMarioLover Actually I played MKDS before MKSC, and own both now. What I find is how low the track quality is in MKDS, since people only look at the good Nitros and Retros, which are massively outnumbered by the bad ones
@@DittoGTI Yeah, you're absolutely right about that! A huge point of critisism nowadays from people towards DS is the Retro Track collection, and I couldn't agree more on them!
You could've just putted "[TAS]" next to the title instead of "*TAS*"
indeed, the format i use has been tradition so far. i stick with it for now 👍
@@RobertMcKinnonMainChannel Are you sure?
