Sounds like big pharma buying a mailing list for marketing purposes to folk that may be under duress because their child is ill. GREED

Our children aren't safe. While they're in school the government knows where to find them

Greed is correct and we need greed cap laws.
No company (including hospitals) should make more than 100% profit on anything (double the original price). These hospitals sometimes charge things for 800+%
I also don't believe any company owner should make more than double their lowest paid employee (and if they want to make more, pay more).
I'd run for office but I'm too poor to campaign.

Law should mandate that it not be used for nefarious purposes, at a bare minimum.

Using it for cloning and sharing with insurance companies need to be illegal. But I do love that they saved that baby's life with a treatment created from another baby's blood sample from years prior.

It only takes 2 cells to clone someone. They take the cord blood too, filled with stem cells. And not sure what they do with the placenta. (I've read ingredients on some skin care products and they list placenta as an ingredient. Human placenta?)
I had a pap smear one time, and afterwards, months later, i got an unmarked envelope from some research place, saying that while normally they dispose of the sample after used fir the intended purpose, for some reason they KEPT my sample and were doing "research" on it. They claimed i could ask them not to.
But by then, they'd probably grown more cells abd sold to other places. They said i had no control over what types of experiments would he dine, and they would not inform me what they were using it fir
I want to be asked for consent BEFORE the action, not later
Theres no way for them to prove to me that they destroyed all my samples
Why me? Why now? I was targeted for some reason. I feel totally violated. It's my actual DNA!! It doesn't belong to them and was acquired without consent
Imagine you're some wealthy billionaire who needs a heart transplant. But too old or poor health to qualify. They can find a match in these databases

lawmakers are pushing for transparency? isn't it the lawmakers that decided this originally? and isn't it the lawmakers who are the only ones who CAN push for transparency? This seems like a a group who want to be seen as heroes for being the villain and then stop being the villain.

They should be able to use children's DNA for violent crimes. It is criminal that it is not uploaded to database, to help solve crimes.

I like that too and that they're using it to create treatments for medical disorders but I think there needs to be strict laws in place to prevent scientists from using it for nefarious experiments like cloning or from sharing it with insurance companies so they can charge people more if they are at a greater chance of developing health problems later in life.
