  • Truth tables, decision trees, game theory & strategy in linguistic philosophy applies in business, law, international relations, politics, and interpersonal relationships. People lie & people tell the to different degrees. Honest people lie sometimes, and dishonest people tell the truth sometimes. Simple tree diagrams show that over successive binary choices of truth or falsehood, the outcomes with the lowest probability are all true or all false. Of course, what constitutes truth is sometimes ambiguous, but that relates to matters of observability rather than collective opinion. Sure, sometimes opinion is a stand-in for fact, but for how long does that last? Not too long before another opinion takes over or some observable fact displaces the popular opinion. Two-way tables help illustrate binary choice situations, but when a third option enters, a simple yes/no or +/- methodology can break down.

Mistake around 15:30. Factually incorrect & unpopular is the best possible in row 2, followed by factually ambiguous & unpopular, with the worst outcome being factually correct & unpopular.
