I bought a 1981 CR250R new in ‘82 as a leftover for $1,499.00. I raced it a few times but never meshed with the bike well. I tried everything, but the front end was a plow that simply couldn’t turn. The power was plenty good as I holeshot the first two races with it. Then the 1982 Suzuki RM 250Z entered my life and provided me with a bike I could qualify in Nationals with as a Privateer. The Honda just collected dust for 3 or 4 years before I sold it for $500. I thought I did good getting that price at the time. Anywho!!
Oh I want another dirt bike so bad! I used to have a '98 YZ250 and an '89 KX80. I really want a new YZ250 2 stroke but I have a few other things financed that have to get off the list first. Thanks Chris!
I have an 81 that I still ride today. Left kick, Rides like the wind. Tall gears. The one I have has a much wider clutch cover than the one you show here. I wonder what that's all about
Great video! I picked one of these up last year and I have been riding it, even raced it in a hare scramble. They are very fast and pretty comfortable to ride.
I got one I love it best bike a boy could ask for
I raced my 81 in motocross for two years and never had any issues whatsoever.

Good evaluation, thanks ! So in other words, this bike was a RWTH (Repairs Waiting To Happen)
This bike weighs nearly the same as a modern 2024 250. Numbers don’t lie
thx for your videos
Your very welcome JTM.
Oh ya
1981....a year of rare birds like my 81 CR450 ...all original but not in the unused condition of that 250
82 was better......
