- A trans woman has documented the physical changes in their face after eight months of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - by taking a selfie every day.
Brendan McCann, 23, has photographed themself every day since they started HRT in August last year.
They decided to document their journey to give other trans people the "confidence to start HRT".
A timelapse of 266 images shows how Brendan's physical appearance noticeably changes over a period of eight months.
Brendan, a video journalist, originally from Plymouth, Devon, said: "The most rewarding part of my transition has been being able to share it with people and make a little piece of art out of it.
"I've done video production and timelapse photography for a while, so I've had a lot of fun putting these time lapses together and seeing people enjoy them.
"The main reason trans people share timelines of their changes with HRT online is that people who are considering starting often go looking to see 'what will it do to me? I want to find someone who looked like me when they started'.
"Many timelines don't start with a person who looks fairly masculine and still has a beard, so I felt it was important to have it start from the beginning.

The decision to shave the mustache gradually over the course of a week is peak
When I was in high school I would let my beard grow out and then shave half of my face and go to school like that for a day. It was always a big hit lmao.

The suicide rate in the trans community post transition is the same as pre transition. If transitioning brought happiness, suicide rates would be lower, but they're not.

Female hormones won't magically feminize a masculine face; existing features or grooming play a significant role. Take, for instance, the individual in the video who concealed a weak jawline with a beard. If he was clean shaven, you would see he already looked feminine. Many transgender women turn to facial feminization surgeries since hormone therapy alone may not suffice. In my view, all transgender women are essentially closeted feminine gay men. Embracing a feminine identity as a gay man can be liberating and cost-free. Transitioning, with surgeries and hormones, won't change one's birth sex, potentially leading to more physical complications. Therefore, I think avoiding transition is the better choice.

Having more of a “baby face” definitely helped, but you could definitely see the features getting softer and more feminine. This was really cool to watch such a long transition in seconds so you could really see the change not only in physical features, but in the mood and confidence 😊 That smile at the end definitely made the entire video. Her whole face lit up with happiness and that makes me happy. 😊

I wanna start HRT asap but... why does nobody talk about the risks?
Because doctors are making BIG money off of it right now... Why would they want to talk about how it is irreversible, can cause cancer, & bone density issues when gender affirming care is a billion dollar industry??? Doctors just want patients for life but some people haven't quite figured that out yet...
Negatives of Oestrogen HRT - Loss of fertility, increased risk of gall bladder stones, blood clots, small risk of changes in blood pressure (which are constantly monitored so it’s good), breast cancer risk increases to similar of a cis-woman, will eventually need to take in less calories (about 500 less a day which is equivalent for cis-women vs cis-man) for the same nourishment, skin is way thinner and softer which is a negative if you’re still getting a lot of laser hair removal or electrolysis beforehand because it stings way more than the thicker and oilier skin from before.

@mgsolf3421 no forcing ur self to be a certain way because their afraid to be the person that makes them smile, she most likely spent years trying to get on hrt, I was lucky and it only took me two years I'm 20, I had severe depression for my teen years, I hated my body and hated how people perceived me, I tried ending it all twice, when I turned 16, I came to the conclusion that I was genderfluid, I spoke to lots of counselors and got a psychological evaluation until I was 18, they confirmed I was trans and I decided to go on hormones, they sent a referal and i had to wait two years to get on them, I'm 20 now and I am finally on hrt and I have been the most happiest person in my life, u don't have to like that I'm trans , all we really want is for u guys to just respect us, before u say I should stop because it's not natural, alot of cis men take hrt because they are born with a syndrome that won't let the body produce hormones, alot of cis men take estrogen hormones to prevent their hair from falling out, u can say what u want, but when u start actually respecting people and learn to listen to the voices of people that are trans or people that need hrt, u will understand that people need hormones for expression, healing, strength and beauty, then u can understand to let people be happy.
