Thanks for another superb video. I agree that Neos Smartcams are a great addition to mobile security. I installed two in our motorhome 4 or 5 years ago and highly recommended them. Best wishes for your upcoming retirement adventure. Stay strong, stay safe 🖖
Thank you for your kind comments. I have used the conventionally for the inside of the motorhome in the past, so knowing how well they work, thought this would be a great use for them... ATB, Steve & Margot
Fitted one inside our van a couple of years ago, however I went a step further and fitted an HUAWEI 535 router and mated to an external arial. The router has a SIM card and the camera is linked to the router. That way when on our wanderings we can keep watch on our motorhome. We use an EE sim and it’s been brilliant giving us Wi-Fi where ever we travel, recently in Ireland and Europe. The arial we’ve fitted was recommended by a canal boat blogger Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001 Cross Polarised 4G Omni LTE Antenna.
Great information there Wobby, That's exactly the sort of thing I intend doing when we get back from out travels abroad. Although I've been looking at getting the NETGEAR 4G Router MR2100. A bit pricey though..!! I shall check out that antenna also..👍 Thank you. ATB, Steve
Can I suggest that you place a raspberry pi in the van, you can vpn onto your network. It's probably best to be on the same network as the devices to troubleshoot any issues. You would also be able to control a 12v relay to do a hard power switch if required.
I am not that technical minded on such things I'm afraid....! Wouldn't know where to start or what to do with a raspberry pi..?? However, I now find myself trying to find out information about it and researching it......🤣 ATB, Steve
That was a super little track, "Stop-motion Mellow Piano-jazz Unboxing," there, from The Wrinkly Nomads ... niiiice. You'd presumably want a tracker hidden somewhere sending GPS coordinates - otherwise all someone needs is a balaclava and the usual tools of the vehicle thief to get away with it. Not much point having video of your thief if they can't be identified and you've no idea where they took your van.
Hi, Thank you for your kind comments. This is just an addition to the many security measures we have on the motorhome. There's also a 'carlock vehicle tracker' fitted and hidden away as well. It give real time GPS and alerts, so I know if the vehicle moves, track its driving route, senses movement or vibration. My other motorhome security videos showing what else you can use are here: th-cam.com/video/IR7MxwXp3lk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/IR7MxwXp3lk/w-d-xo.html Hope they help ATB, Steve
Great to see you back, and great video. I feel a little gutted I paid £300 for a camera on my boat that basically is virtually the same, although I have no wifi where I am so it runs off 4g. Does the farm wifi signal where you’re parking up reach ok?
Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, I shall be picking up from their wifi, although when we return from abroad I shall be installing wifi in the motorhome for our travels. ATB, Steve
Hi great video as normal but a thought on the camera's behind glass. I understand SmartCam uses infra red light to see upto 9m. I've tried camera's behind standard glass in the past and the close range reflected IR light washed the picture out. May be worth doing a quick test as suggested by Sm4. Health and happiness to you both.
Good info there Graham, thank you. Although you can't see them, I've also got solar powered LED lights around the van, PIR activated. So the effect is the same as in the daytime should anyone approach at night. That work surprisingly well...! ATB, Steve
I really do hate (admire) people who actually engage their grey matter and think things through. Your set up looks spot on mate and I'm envious. Happy travels to you both and I would love to have chat if we bump into each other.
Hi, The nature of where it is parked up makes it being 'attacked' extremely unlikely. In this case the only thing missing was some form of CCTV. Along with all the other deterrents that are fitted to deter theft and break in, this is yet another security measure that I have on the motorhome. Also, the night vision on these cameras is very good and being inside they cannot be tampered with.... ATB, Steve
problem is that m/home thieving scumbags tend to be wearing hoodies and balaclavas and they dont care too much about cctv/video surveilance. I prefer the mechanical deterents that take time to get around whilst a 110dB alarm is going off in their ear and also wakes up both me and my neighbours. I also have tracker fitted , but pro thieves can disarm them with 'jammers ' . Multiple levels of security is the best deterent ;)
Thoroughly agree with you there David, I've got a few more levels of security over and above just the CCTV as well. There's a few videos on my channel showing what I have done as well.. MoHo security playlist link: th-cam.com/play/PLpIOAv57Ke8g9CnSbi8R9Kg6nRalWE8GR.html ATB, Steve

Excellent video thanks
Thank you Kevin 👍
A simple vibration and geo fence tracker is about £50 and would be a great addition. Regards AJ
Interesting.... I'll look into that.
Thanks Alan.

Most likely the van will be “attacked” at night, what’s the view of those cameras through glass at night?
