@@Deutscheautoparts will these parts you listed fit a 2003 Passat 1.8t. I have multiple codes p0507 p0300 p0303 p0411. So I’ve set a certain budget for the cost of parts since I’ll be doing the work myself.
YOU DO NOT need to change the pump when its leaking. Just drill out the rivets and replace with a nut and bolt in each bracket. this will pull the pump together and get a better seal.
Thanks for this video for reference. This was a 30 minute job! In my 2001 A4 2.8 there was no need to loosen the bracket. You just need to "finesse" the pump out. "Finesse" is the pro term for -assertive manipulation without breaking anything.
Never got a code but on warm up it sounds like a jet spooling up for like 15 years , LOL finally going to replace it years ago I was told 600 , think I can do it myself , thanks
Good tips, but I would suggest the following if you have trouble getting to the upper pump bracket bolt. I found it easier to put the front of the car in the service position, you will have more room to get to the upper bolt from above.
Hello All! So, I strongly recommend not taking out the 8mm Allens, but have Hydraulic Fluid available and disconnect the Power steering line instead of the recommended loosening of the pump bracket. Way easier and faster. The power steering will not be mad at you for taking the line off and refilling after. Way easier way better!

+Deutsche Auto Parts no it was through Google I found the site. I bought the turbo oil return line for 110 and 20 for the gasket. Deutsche Auto Parts, it wasn't eBay. Do you wholesale to other distributors? It's the same logo on the plastic bag from the inner and outer tie rods.
+Deutsche Auto Parts them someone is using your name and logo, I can email a link or picture of the products with your logo so you have evidence to take them to court if you find out who it is.
+Deutsche Auto Parts I don't remember, this was over a year ago. The parts are identical, colors on the outer tie-rods and ball joints and the brackets. I'll email the pictures and boxes and packaging, I'm almost positive I saved the outer tie-rods boxes because I didn't need them, they were new from the previous owner. I remember googling and seeing a lot of good reviews and that's the only reason I got all those parts I didn't need, stronger bushings. The oil return line website was different, it was blue but the checkout was very similar with the option for the high performance gaskets.
I bought a cheap one off ebay for 20 bucks and it works perfect. Advanced wanted like 400 bucks and I saw some as high as 800. Get it off ebay and save yourself a fortune.
Great this was very helpful. One thing, perhaps you could consider using a light source to make it easier to see the dark areas. Again this was very helpful.
My Air Pump is very very loud and noisy, but it still blows air, i tested it. How do i know if the Combi Valve is damaged or the pump causes the fault?
ready I already put some new spark plugs and ignition coil. Check your coil pack harnesses. Since the coil wires on a 1.8t sit on top of the valve cover, they tend to get hot and eventually become very brittle. I had the same issue and it turned out that my grounding wire had broken loose from the terminal and the insulation had cracked. Used electrical tape to re-cover the exposed wire and put on a new terminal. Problem solved.
If your going to pretty much remove the bracelet you might aswell take it off remember the orientation and movement the new pump them mount the 2 on at once?
Is there an trick to getting the hoses back on the pump! Just replaced my pump and can’t for the life of me get both hoses back on. I have broken two already trying to get them back on! Keeps throwing a CEL because of this !
Tip for anyone doing this at home on axle stands - don't bother trying to remove the bracket allen bolts. Power steering fluid is CHEAP - just remove the power steering hose. Will save you a load of time and effort. It's still tricky to get out and back in but it's much better than messing with the bracket.
+Suj Power steering fluid is cheap? Last time I checked it's around $25. Even if it took you an hour to get the pump off, that would be $25/ hour worth of work you would be saving.
tylertyler82 Yeah - it's not gonna take an hour. You will spend all day trying to get that top bracket bolt out - and the following 2 days trying to get that bolt back in. Yeah you could mess about trying to loosen it to swing the bracket if you can manage it. I'm in the UK - but even if I were where you are I'd rather pull the PS hose and pay the $25 - or if you want to do it on the cheap, re-use the fluid you caught out of the hose. Considering the repair doesn't cost anything - $25 for the fluid is still cheap to get the job done.
+Suj I ended up doing this project today, I just drilled out the rivets and replaced with bolts, fixed the whirring loud vacuum noise! Good call on removing the power steering hoses- I didn't even need to buy new fluid. I drained it into a clean bucket and put the fluid back in the reservoir after everything was done (I just flushed the fluid a few months ago so no need to replace with new fluid!) Took one look at those allen bracket bolts and said f- that!

Fuck this pump. I cannot get the larger air hose off the pump. Been at it for nearly an hour. I understand there are two clip points that secure the hose. I'm using 3 or 4 flatheads to pry and hold and nothing.

Now can this cause my 2011 gti to bog down and throw the EPC light for a few seconds?
No sir, this component is just for emission control. The EPC light in my 2010 Jetta came on and I took it to my volkswagon dealer. They told my my engine was beyond repair. That cost me about 7 grand for a rebuilt engine, 3 grand of which was labor.
