As the #largestpoundforpoundgunbunnyinamerica I am disgusted by this attack on my people(joking). Jon Patton personally invited me to GUNCON(not joking, he really did). I love you guys. I laughed out loud when my name was brought up at the beginning of the show. I have used my gunbunny hashtag since 2019 and people get the joke. My frustration as a 2nd Amendment advocate is there are lots of attractive ladies fighting for our rights, that are also shooters and gunowners, that can't get corporate sponsorship. Many companies aren't really pro 2A, they are just in the firearms industry. It doesn't make sense but here are some examples. Look at the number of firearms related companies that hire Tim Kennedy. Surefire donated $10,000 to, queen anti-gun herself, Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Troy Industries has one of the FBI HRT members from Ruby Ridge working for them. Sadly some gunowners don't know and many don't care. The show was great. I look forward to seeing it pop up on my feed.

The concept of a gun bunny in itself doesn't really bother me, personally. It's when the gun companies who hired them try to act like the bunny KNOWS something about the product they're advertising. I never, ever expected the hot girl with the AR in my magazine to know about metallurgy and twist rate 😅

About the gunbunny comment in other industries like videogames and conventions. YES that was the case back in the 2000s, booth babes were hired by publishers and developers but this practice had long since gone away in favor of demos of the videogame. As for conventions, its likely that you refer to cosplayers. Specifically cosplay hes morphed into a hyper sexualized form of costume wearing. There is financial incentive to dress up as the character and sell photos or videos. While those types of cosplayers are rampant online and in conventions, they are not always hired by convention management to do this.

Theory has is that Marilyn Monroe wasn't as ditzy as she lead on. But she knew her craft, both of being a Hollywood star, & a woman.
What about a woman who unwaveringly, without blinking, leans purposely into the sexy gun bunny persona, but is also a dedicated shooter who could out shoot you?
There a several female 2A influencers, personalities, whatever, who are hott enough, & proficient enough. But either they're not looking for that kind of attention, or worried they'd lose respect in the industry.
I think the proof is in the pudding. If you're fugly, nobody wants to see that. And if you can't handle firearms, then you have no credibility. But what if you have both?

An interesting "bun bunny but not a gun bunny" I recall seeing were the "cigarette girls" at the Magpul booth, giving away a box of dummy 5.56 rounds in a cigarette pack. People would ask them about the use of these dummy rounds, and they're like, "I don't know. I'm getting paid to hand them out." Later on I jokingly asked again the use for dummy cartridges, and by them had some examples.

I think you have a point on women specific classes. There might be some merit to tailoring technique to biological realities, but, with the women I have met even in a firearms environment, with the sample size I had, I think more women might hesitate to use deadly force. These hokey defense classes seemed aimed at giving women a placebo about what defending themselves might be like.

Perhaps some of the draw of the operator stems from living through a pandemic and the “Summer of Love.” Many Americans are seeing the real need for protecting themselves, the ones they love and their neighborhoods for the first time. The mood of the country, as a whole, seems to be more serious…much more so than the 80s and 90s. My wife can run basically any gun in our house, but when she wants to shoot, practice, train, whatever she goes back to her PPQ or PDP everytime. She’s not going to pick up my 17 because she’s doesn’t enjoy shooting it. If shes not shooting she’s not learning. You see how the cycle of incompetence can begin?

    • @erikthered9357

Johnny is right with both carrying the same gun, its a good idea, especially today. More and more often criminals are staying and fighting or setting up ambushes, they are more aggressive and willing to take chances because they have fewer consequences, and they are tending to run in packs of 3-4 or more now. Being able to run each others gun and carrying the same mags is huge in a gun fight. Even carrying a bag of mags in the car for backup, not having to dig thru 2 different types in the middle of a fight. I carried a 19 for years on the job, I fucking hate glocks but everyone ran them and for that reason I did as well, and we werent forced to carry anything specific. Maybe its going to come down to you both find a platform you both like and run that, it could be the difference between surviving a fight or not.
      Just something to think about.

@@erikthered9357 It is something to think about. But if in the ULTRA rare situation we both end up in a gun fight I’d rather we both have the gun we shoot competently than any other.
This pipe dream of my wife yelling for extra mags in some sort of grocery store warzone scenario is just that, a pipe dream. The more likely scenario is her grabbing my five year old and getting the f$ck out of dodge.

I would argue that the gun sizing debate has its place but...
Nobody in their right mind would say "Hey, 5'0" Shakira, you should carry a .50 AE Desert Eagle, or Hey, Shaq, I think the NAA-22LR would be perfect for you."
That said, if you're not atypical in size or stature, why should your chosen firearm be anything other than the average size?
My wife prefers the simplicity of Glock, so she's got a 19 that's all tricked out for her off-body carry and a 42 that she prefers for on-body concealed. Granted, she also prefers her 42 with the ETS "stendo" 9-round mags, but by then, the grip height is damn near the same as the 19, so that should tell you something.

I can kind of understand Johnny's point regarding female perspective and I agree that it should never be used in a PC or patronizing way. However, the cold hard fact is that shooting is an ergonomic exercise and women are anatomically different from men. Honest Outlaw has featured segments of Mrs. Outlaw shooting a lot lately and asking for her thoughts. This strikes me as a very valid critique of any firearm since you're getting perspective from two very different shooters.
And you failed to acknowledge the greatest gun bunny of all: Lara Croft 😎

This is has been going on since the beginning of time, ive never been to shot show, but ive worked 9 SEMA events since 2008, In Booth, and 9 PRI Events, in Booth, for a Manufacturer ive worked for for 17 years. and a TON of company's use attractive females to Market the product, and will continue to do so. Companies hire Professional Drivers to sit in the booths, Celelbs like Street Outlaws, etc. Sex sells. Its Marketing, plain and simple

Who cares if any company uses a pretty girl to "model" their product - if Robski or Chris Bartocci gives their stamp of approval that's all i care about

Idc who’s selling the product or what they look like. If they cant tell me anything about it, I lose interest. Buzz words and industry terms dont do it for me. Especially when it’s something new and trendy. I always skip the hype and let time tell. I let everyone else be the beta testers for a years, wait for kinks to be worked out then ken decision. Tbh, if anything seeing “attractive” women immediately turns me off because it makes me feel like I’m being manipulated. Or any kind of marketing that tries to make you feel less masculine for not owning their product. Idk, maybe it’s because I’m on the spectrum, and that stuff really doesn’t work on me lmao I actually care about to quality of the product, how it functions, what makes it better (or not better) than other options, is it worth what it’s being priced at. Like I’m married, you cant use another women to sell me anything lmao It really comes down to your marketing practices, your level of honesty, and if the quality of your product matches the price. If the woman is actually in the industry and knows what she’s talking about, that’s different, it has nothing to do with her gender, but her knowledge and experience. Im also bi and mixed and I wouldn’t want a minority or diversity marketing thing either. I’m simply an American gun owner and enthusiast. The rest is irrelevant. I love my country and my rights, that’s as far as it needs to go in my eyes. Just give me people who know what they’re talking about. My wife doesn’t like the girly stuff. She loves heavy duty bulky revolvers. She’s definitely a hand cannon woman lol she her favorite gun of mine to shoot is my ass metal 320 in .40 s&w. She loves the recoil, it makes her feel bad ass at the range lmao she’s small, but she can handle a good amount of recoil and and still hit where she wants to. She knows how to use all of our guns, how to maintain them, disassemble and reassemble them. I let her choose what she likes. She knows what works for her. She knows multiple weapons platforms for a just in case scenario. I dont patronize her. I want her to be able to use as many guns as possible. If she wants a steel frame full size, okay, lol she may not carry that one, but she may use it at a night stand or range gun. Maybe it’s the first one she grabs if someone kicks our door in at night. But yeah, she loves higher caliber guns like me lol she shoot’s really well, so I have full confidence in her with whatever she has.

I specifically skip any videos with "gun bunnies" as there is 0 value in the content after the shock value...

Appreciate you guys a ton but I don’t think this “problem” matters.

Jonny, I think the problem is as a salesman you should be able to read your customers male or female. Some women like that stuff, some don't. If you can't read your customers you shouldn't be a salesman.

My opinion - keep bun bunnies but make sure they are real and pro-2a. One that comes to mind is Officer Toni McBride. There's another competitor, Tetiana Gaidar, originally from Ukraine. A few others, I can't remember the names.

Ok I have to disagree with yall on this one. I went to the NRA show in Dallas and I'm also going to the GOAls show in TN in August..I went to the NRA show for the Trump rally and to check out cool new pew pew stuff. I did get to meet Lena Michelak and she was super friendly. I did meet Iceman Chuck too, again just to say I'm a huge fan and get a pic. He was also very nice. I'm there for pew pew stuff and the occasional celebrity photo opp....could care less about some hot chic in a bikini lol

Kinda have to let your product speak for itself! And a lot of people have there brands and people more or less stick to there brand. Ya there are new people but more or less just I’m sure buying lower end products. Maybe I’m way off.
