I was originally was goin to buy a LX 470 and then bought a FZJ80. My thought process with the Lexus was more luxury, more power, better condition, for a lower price then a 93-97 triple locked. But in the end the FZJ80 triple locked was what I bought.
My parents had one when I was in HS, now, I wish I would've taken it when they wanted to give it to me. I went for an IS instead and now looking for a nice example of an LX450 so I can go camping.
We went the other direction. Flipped 97 FZJ for model 07 LX and 05 GX and I must say I would never go back. Nothing wrong with the FZJ platform... it’s just a bit under powered and gets a lil worse when loaded up with bumpers, tents, bigger tires, etc. Not favorable when you live near mountain ranges or hills. Def consider regearing to 4.88. Look forward to seeing where you go with the build. Do you have an insta?

I just got an 80 series myself. Coming from a GX470 and LX470. I love it so far. No regrets.
