RenShiWu They did, although Britain and America fought very well and I feel really proud of our contribution, it was the Russians who took the full force of the Nazi onslaught. At the start they were pushed back all the way to outskirts of Moscow, however Millions of Soviet soldiers were able to fight back and thanks the the Russian winter, the german army practically froze to death, and then there was the battle of Stalingrad, which was the decisive battle of the war, 300.000 German soldiers died and 356,700 were captured. A whole army was gone, completely gone. Then there was the battle of Kursk which was the largest tank battle in history which also destroyed a whole army and was the last full on offensive Hitler made during the war, and they were wiped out. The Russians stopped the Germans from capturing the oil fields on the south which would have supported the Reich for decades. It was the Russians who defeated the vast majority of the German army and were the ones who took Berlin. Hitlers main priority during the war was defeating Russia, the western allies was a sideshow as far as he was concerned. Patterns statement about dieting for your country didn't work on the Russian front, Stalin imposed an order called "Not a step Back" which meant the Russians literally fought to the last bullet, and then saved that last one for themselves. Although very cruel it did slow the German army down thus giving Russian forces further back to organise and get more reinforcements and ultimately stopped the German army hence, saving Russia, hence ultimately defeating Hitler and Nazi Germany. Manny Russian soldiers who had ran out of ammunition would take their last grenade and run under a German tank and blow it up.

Well Cameron's party are more incharge this time because they don't need a coalition to form the government and you are correct in saying that he wants to cut social welfare and other government programmes to save money (but his cuts in his first term were pretty much across the board). Foreign affairs: he has promised to call for a referendum on EU membership in 2017 (though he himself is in favour of staying in the EU his party isn't). David Cameron is generally interested in an interventionist foreign policy (based on his vote on Syria, Afghanistan, libya and iraq) but this previous government hasn't always managed to pursue it ie Syria and despite his interventionist position he still cut the military significantly.
the500mphtortoise I don`t understand how politicans can even think of leaving the EU. it will nullify all trading agreements with the EU making the UK an odd man out in the middle of the EU but well, it isn`t me who decides but the people of the UK
Phuc googl well I was trying to describe the situation as unbiased as I could but I personally agree with you. On the other hand I do think people should have had the right to a referendum on the Lisbon treaty and should have the right to vote on membership, even if that means we make the wrong decision.
Phuc googl I want to leave the EU, because I don't want the Mainland to have any influence over domestic policy, I don't want to have to prop up the Mainland economy, and I also think that allowing a large number of contrasting political systems to exist in close proximity is a good thing. Unfortunately, a lot of Euroskeptics see leaving the EU as a means of advancing an anti-immigration agenda, which I in no way support. If we did leave, I think most British people would support strong trade links with the rest of Europe, as well as continued membership of NATO. What I've never understood is why people in countries like Germany view the EU so favorably.

The Tories aren't really a majority party at all. If you take into account the turnout of 66%, less than one in four people actually voted Conservative anyway.
Still far better than Labour, who won in 2005 with only 35% of the vote on a much lower turnout than the Tories won with this time. Also, when you add the Tories and UKIP together, they made up 55% of the English vote, so a pretty overwhelming vote for the Right in England. In the whole of the UK, when you add together the Tories, UKIP and the right wing Northern Irish DUP and UUP, the right wing vote is over 50%.
