My dad worked at the California DMV for 32 years. When he saw this movie and heard this song he laughed his ass off and said it was all about his workplace. He used to sing this song and laugh while shaving before going to work.
@@andrewpetik2034 Thanks! I sure miss my dad and his sense of humor! He grew up during the Depression and was of that generation that tried to make the best of bad situations. Everybody hates going to the DMV--but he had to go there every day for 32 years!
@@robertclarkyoung9141 I understand missing your parents.... I am 57 and was blessed to have both my parents living very close for most of my life. Mom passed in 2014....and Dad in 2017. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's got great messages and musical numbers about love and family, but sometimes, when I'm having a crappy day in the non-Christmas season, this particular song is EXACTLY what I need. Perfect lyrics for when you're annoyed at every idiot around you lol.
My theme song lately when I see how they treat animals and the innocent. AND when they go on your property and do what they please even after you tell them to piss off.
10 years after this clip of a fantastic movie, its so uplifting to see how much this song resonates with so many of us! At least i can say i don’t hate ALL people. Just… .\/. People…
I still don't understand why no one else has uploaded this??? I searched it this last Xmas and still couldn't find a clip of just this song. It doesn’t even fit with TH-cam's aspect ratio anymore 🤷♀️
Can we focus on the brilliant triple two-part rhyme at the end? "Cretinous wretches/ Sweatiness fetches/ Pettiness stretches..." Lyrics don't come better than that;
"7:00 on Christmas eve? That's not business hours, That's drudgery for the sake of it!" All other business owners on the street: Hold my Christmas punch.
@@teparadox Another inconsistency is how light it is on the streets of London at 7pm on December 24. Sunset happens before 4pm at that time of year, it should be pitch freaking dark!
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. It has so many wonderful songs and is a story of redemption. It is a shame that most network showings always cut out the scene in hell. To the contrary of this song, God created and loves all people and wants them to come to Him. Unbelievers face a horrible, eternal punishment. I pray that people will surrender their lives to Jesus Christ and accept his free salvation. When you are saved, you receive the Holy Spirit who takes up residence with you and His power administered through His Spirit will enable you to live the Christian life for His sake - and spend eternity in heaven instead of hell.

The older you get, the more relatable this song becomes.

best version of a Christmas carol, even dickens would watch it!

Albert Finney was masterful in this.
The Golden Globe he won for this film was Richly deserved, in my opinion.
