Merry Christmas! I’m 60 and used to read the book every year. Now I watch it, technology 😊 Anyway I’m going to visit my 85 and 81 year old mom and dad tomorrow. I’m so blessed to celebrate another Christmas with them 🎄
I have two favorite adaptations of this story. This version and the 1984 version with George C. Scott as Scrooge. Both of these are fantastic. This is my 63rd Christmas and I've seen this wonderful version many times. Now, I'll settle in and watch it again. Merry Christmas.
I agree - Im 82 and have watched them all but this 1951 version is the best. Merry Christmas - it is evening where I am sadly, a widow- so, celebrating on my own - Merry Christmas to all.🎉
When I was 7 or 8 and watched this version (which is my favorite) the 3rd spirit scared the heck out of me. lol. I'm now 66 and watch this version yearly. Merry Christmas.
10.04 christmas day evening. We've had unexpected visitors, a lovely buffet supper, and in my bed and just watched Scrooge. The very best version. What a splendid Christmas Day. One of the best.
The version my family watched ever since i was a child and the favorite of my late husband and me. I watched it for the first time since he left us. The very best.
I've seen a lot of other versions - from the 30's clear up to recent attempts, AND NONE of them even remotely compares with this one! The score is a true work of genius and when combined with all the other brilliant elements of the film, we have a true classic as surely as the original novel! No doubt in my mind Dickens up in heaven agrees whole heartedly!!
This is unequivocally the BEST version of Scrooge EVER. I MUST watch this n Charlie Brown Christmas ir there IS no Christmas!!! Thanks for posting!! Merry CHRISTMAS!!!
"I haven't taken leave of my senses Bob. I've come to them..." One of my all time favourite lines in any movie. So often in this world with its twisted morals and upside down view on what is success and happiness, I think of this quote. And how so often doing the right thing can to some seem like madness at first but in fact is the only true and right course of action...
Wonderful film! For me, the scene with Kathleen Harrison and Alistair Sim on the stairs is very moving in particular. When she says "A Christmas Present...for me!" - gets me every time. The way she says it and the look on her face is beautifully done. Happy Christmas everyone and a Happy 2025.
Brilliant quality. 👏 Since i was 7yrs old my mum allowed me to watch this. She is not with us anymore and im a lot lot older. Like most people of a certain beautiful English generation, we watched this on Christmas evening before bed. The tradition still continues. God bless you all & a Merry Christmas.
Just watched it. Again now ... can't get enough of this version. Have see a lot versions, even the Muppets... but this one is extraordinary good! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you so very much for posting this movie; the absolute and unquestionable best version of “A Christmas Carol”. It’s rarely shown on TV and I was hoping to watch it this year. Thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄.
I agree. This is the best verison of all the ones out there, but I like George C Scott's (1984) version of Scrooge too, and this xmas I saw the 1972 animated version produced by Chuck Jones also with Alastair Sim (as well several other actors from the 1951 live version) voicing the role of Scrooge. Every xmas eve I watch this at midnight. "A Christmas Carol", in my opinion, is the greatest story ever written. It's simplistic and exposes human frailities and the chance to correct the wrong by finding empathy for those suffering.
The scene where he enters Fred's house, turns to the housekeeper, enters the room, sees Fred's wife & asks can you forgive a pig headed old fool for having no eyes to see with, no ears to hear with all these years?
My first time seeing this version. The last part with Mr. Sim going "I can't help it" gives him juat a tad more character to show his change of heart. Gotta watch the muppets version next year
Thank you for (and everyone else 110+ today) subscribing, though this isn't my usual content, but I wanted to end 2024 on a high note and couldn't think of a better way than with my favourite movie!!!:)
Thank you so much, but you really didn't have to do that, this is just a fun hobby for me and not something I want anyone to pay for it.:) And if you are able to cancel the payment, please do, and know that I really appreciate the gesture.:)
It's a tie between this, Blackadder's and a Muppet Christmas Carol. Thanks to our host who knows how to give a bit of cheer at this tricky time of year.
i'm sorry , sometimes i'm too crazy for my own good but i noticed the back of the wing chair in the sitting room when scrooge went to see if marley was dead yet and wondered what that stain was, they didn't have gheri curls back then! i halfway expected to see the McDowells family walk by from coming to america. i am CERTAIN that this will go wayyy above some people's heads
@adriennebraxton-oq9iu. @46:12. I understand, but I think the chair was probably a prop used several times in other productions, and got stained then, prior to this production.
I am watching this at 8:00 AM on the morning of my 83rd Christmas. It is my favorite film version of this story. Alistair Sim's Scrooge is perfect!
Merry Christmas and yes, it's also my all-time favourite version, and I always watch it every Christmas Eve.:)

My wife and I watched this tonight. For thirty years of our marriage we always watched this version. Alister Sim is the penultimate Scrooge.
Ex English teacher here :
Alastair
Penultimate means one before the last or second to last.
@@renzo6490 Thanks. I should have said the ''ultimate''. merry Christmas
@@renzo6490 Yeah. I meant ''ultimate''.
Never ever get tired of watching this movie! Thanks for providing it for free

What a magical, touching film. The true spirit of Christmas. 🎄🎅🏼❄
The version my family watched ever since i was a child and the favorite of my late husband and me. I watched it for the first time since he left us. The very best.

To you also, Merry Christmas from America.
By far the best version.
Each year this movie warms my heart and brings tears to my eye. A special Christmas present and tradition. And this too is my 83rd year
We used to watch this every Christmas. My mom loved the part close to the end when he must "stand on his head!".
Merry Christmas to all of you ❤ and I'm so glad to watch my favorite movie
Merry Christmas!:)
The GOAT of Christmas movies.
Thank you for posting this pristine version of the 1951 classic. Merry Christmas one & all

I'm watching this on Christmas Day 2024 for about the 10th Christmas Straight!. Its always been the best version and Alistair Sim the perfect Scrooge!

Brings home the real meaning of Christmas to make people happy the best way you can and this version with Alastair Sim nail's it.

She should have been nominated for a supporting actress award for her role and Sim for best actor. They are that good. Happy Hols!
Likewise, when Mervyn Johns realizes that Scrooge has changed, his gentle expression is wonderful.
Without a doubt, this is the best version of a Christmas Carol. Alistair Sim did a great job playing Scrooge. No one played it better
This is the best version on film
Brilliant quality. 👏

"...can you forgive a pig headed old fool for having no eyes to see no ears to hear all these years?" Allister Sim. Amazing actor.❤
I am enjoying this 8pm 78th Christmas 🎄 😊
The scene where he enters Fred's house, turns to the housekeeper, enters the room, sees Fred's wife & asks can you forgive a pig headed old fool for having no eyes to see with, no ears to hear with all these years?
Yep, I cry at that scene too.

Best version for sure. Lots of great memories of watching this with my fam.❤

The best Scrooge ever.
I love this movie it’s definitely the best version and my second favourite is the musical version with Albert Finney
It's a tie between this, Blackadder's and a Muppet Christmas Carol. Thanks to our host who knows how to give a bit of cheer at this tricky time of year.
I love Allister Sim movies
The most miserly example of Scrooge.
Christmas night 2024..
My favourite Scrooge Christmas movie Thank you
I love this Christmas 🎄 movie 🎬
Alastair Sim is great in everything. Check out Alec Guinness’ tribute/sendup of him in The Ladykillers!
Merry Christmas to everyone. 🌟🌲🎁

Merry Christmas 🎄 2024. Jesus is the Reason for the Season
Merry Christmas.:)
I'm at work. At least Scrooge gave Bob Cratchit off Christmas Day.😢
Sorry about that, hopefully your work doesn't last too long and you can get home to enjoy that's left of the day.:(
Its funny how Tiny Tim made the Assumption the Turkey order came from Ebenezer Scrooge.
i'm sorry , sometimes i'm too crazy for my own good but i noticed the back of the wing chair in the sitting room when scrooge went to see if marley was dead yet and wondered what that stain was, they didn't have gheri curls back then! i halfway expected to see the McDowells family walk by from coming to america. i am CERTAIN that this will go wayyy above some people's heads

Best Scrooge movie. I own the CD but can't get to it because the Christmas tree is in the way. Merry Christmas everyone.
Certainly brought back "Barbara Allen."😁
Amen 🙏🏽
In the teeth of inclement weather how cold does that sound
I like Seymore Hicks as Scrooge also.
This ls the best version but the Color version is second!
Family tradition.
It is the very best version but it was the one made in the 1930's. (1934 or 1939)
This version was made in 1951. There is 1934 with Seymour Hicks and 1938 with Reginal Owens (hard to find the 1938 version).
George C Scott was the best Scrooge ever!
Michael Caine was a close second.
Hopefully Donald J Trump will watch this and be moved!
Dennis, polka
I'm gonna have to disagree and say that Albert Finney's Scrooge from 1970 is THE best.
