The intense, grand George C Scott version and this glorious musical are my two absolute favorites. It's just not Christmas if I haven't watched them both! They are just, well, they *are* Christmas to me. (The runner-up for me is the giddy, unorthodox Scrooged with Bill Murray. It has a lot of heart. Oh, and I like Mickey's Christmas Carol. And the Muppets' one, too. And the one with Henry Winkler).
@@kellybills29871;38 to 1:50 Scrooge:that’s all very well for you, but not for me I hate life Ghost of Christmas: nonsense, man why Scrooge : because life hates me that’s why

"I like life, here and now, life and I made a mutual vow. Life and I, 'til I die, we'll both try to be better somehow!" Amen to that. I love this song!
Agreed. Albert Finney just NAILS it. You hate him when he's mean, you adore him when he's kind and happy, and you feel heartbroken for him when he's sad.
@@zandernewson9933 Yes really, You yourself can control your own emotions, because seeing yourself so low makes you become a little man or a meaningless pseudo-man. 😂
my wife bought this for me on Blu Ray . The picture is outstanding. They did such a Good job restoring it in HD. we have made it a yearly tradition to watch it.
under any horrid circumstance, we find the choice of choosing to be happy or to be miserable. Song is a good venue to impart a lesson. We find a melody catchy and we slip easily into listening to the words. At that time the message comes across more easily than any parent, boss or doctor ever could get it through our thick heads. just choose happiness and stop trying to control everything and everyone. let go misery and fear. excellent song. thx
Why waste time when it comes to toxic behaviors, war, hatred, and negativity?! We are not meant to spend it this way! Human beings are made to love life and experience all the positive and good things that come from it, not dwell on the negative! Happy holidays everyone, and make the best for what you have that life has to offer. ❤️💚🤍🎅🏻🎄❄️🎁🍷
Watch this every year, get the biggest lump in my throat every year when it ends and he speaks to the door knock (Jacob marley) after redeeming himself and leaving the city in song 👏👏
My parents and I have been watching this movie FOR DECADES NOW and I WILL ALWAYS LOVE this whole part in the movie!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, AND GOD BLESS US..... EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US!!!!! LOVE Y'ALL!! 🥰🥰🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️❤️💚💚💚
Susie , although it's not Christmas but I think what the song was conveying is we can live everyday like it's Christmas if we choose. Why because we like life 😊😂🎉❤
best part of the movie Ghost of Xmas Present was amazing he motivated the Scrooge character to be good and the actor was brilliant definitely the best out of all Scrooge movies
I hope one day they remake this movie with the same songs this was the most magical moment along with scrooges ex Izabel singing Happiness Is What Ever You Want It To Be just amazing hope they remake it as I stated
I love this as a Kid and still watch it every year. I live my life just like the Sprit, There's never enough time to do or say all the things in life. The thing is to do as many as you can in the time you are giving
I have watched this muscial almost every year of my life since my childhood (with some years being missed admittedly) . I just saw it again this year after a 2 year hiatus and it brought back so many fond memories of my childhood holidays. This song is a classic and so uplifting! Also Thank you very much is a hoot!
The song says it all! Whenever I am feeling down or just need a booster shot... the song picks me up and brings me back and makes me realize that there are others out there who may have a much tougher life. Embrace it, make it yours! :-) THE BEST VERSION OF SCROOGE EVER! :-)
I usually watch this movie twice a year. Once around Novem 1st or 2nd to Kickstart the holiday season, and once when it's closet to Christmas day. Strange to think I'll be watching it again in less than two months.
My favorites are this one and the 1951 Alistair Sim version. Both Finney and Sim are magical in their transformations on Christmas morning. Hard to believe the two versions were made only 19 years apart. The George C. Scott version is also very good. I would suggest reading the book. In the Finney movie version, when Scrooge is in hell, Obi Wan Marley makes a comment about Scrooge being as dead as a "coffin nail." This is a reference to a comment made by Dickens in the first pages of the book. The book is quite short (compared to other Dickens novels which can be massive) and will fill in a lot of details and character information that a film doesn't have time to address.
learning about the book in school and i will admit despite being his shortest story (and designed as an allegory for the poor) he still manages to devote 4 whole pages to describing the Cratchits
This is my, and my family's, favorite of all the Holiday movies. I wish it got more of the recognition it deserves. It should be a network special, so more people can see it and fall in love. :) Amazing songs, humor, and Albert Finney is just amazing as Scrooge. Thank you for posting this!
SCROOGE: It's all very well for you but not for me I hate life! THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT: Nonsense, man! Why? SCROOGE: Because life hates me that's why. LOL!!!!!
Scrooge, you’re an even bigger fool than I took you for! I never heard such a lot of self pitying dribble. You don’t even know how to live. Now you listen to me. I like life. (pause) Well, go on!
Dealing with a mother that's insecure within herself, and a mundane Hebrew religion that she's gotten herself into that requires no joyful happy holidays or Merry Christmas, my mom has turned from a bitter non greedy version of Scrooge. Even her own sister says to my mom that she's tired of her self-pitying dribble. Everyday even around the holidays we all need to remind ourselves to like life so it can make us into better people. Why see the light in others, if you don't see the light within yourself? Think about it. Have a Happy Holidays everyone. 💜🎅🎄🎁
I love Kenneth More as this portrayal of the Ghost of Christmas Present, because he behaves like a father to Scrooge, who through his eyes is like a misbehaving child to him, which is what most ignorant or miserable people are like nowadays sadly when it comes to Christmas, which is just plain immature. We need more Kenneth More Christmas spirits!
The BEST Scrooge Film!!!
