      Its one thing for those who have worked & trained for the privilege of climbing Everest to pay for a guide. Its another to just have the money to pay for it without doing the work & sacrifice to summit. Those are who "cause" deaths & the trash pile, not to mention increase the risk for those who ARE worthy.

      Saying he would've gotten past it completely trivializes Doug's death. You just dont get over leaving someone to die, no matter how logical doing it was. Yes he would've gotten to experience meeting ans raising his daughter and been overjoyed, and I personally believe he should have instead, but dont pretend that getting to do so would've made up for that loss. The saddest part about this all is that this is based on a TRUE STORY. And that just makes me want to cry like a baby. Because you can grow an attachment to fake characters in a movie, but when the story is based on REAL LIFE PEOPLE then that is when it gets So SO sad. And this is why I say that the films that are based on true stories, are in fact the scariest

    Why does this semi-fictional account not mention any of the other fatalities that happened? 8 people died during this event, 12 total that seaspn. While this film seems to takes it's information from the book "Into Thin Air", by Outside magazine writer Jon Krakauer, a different and less dramatized version of events appears in "The Climb" by the late, great Russian climber (who was a rescuer during this event) Anatoli Boukreev. Worth a look, if anyone still reads books versus watching the film. Either way, not a terrible movie.

    • @shanewilliams9122
      @shanewilliams9122 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, the director didn't use anything from Into Thin Air. He felt the book wasn't an accurate account.

    • @Ultimaton100
      @Ultimaton100 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, Baltasar Kormákur, the director, didn’t follow Jon Krakauer’s account to the letter. Krakauer actually criticized the director for NOT following his book, believe it or not. Baltasar explained his reasoning in an interview, saying that Krakauer’s account was just one of multiple eyewitness accounts, which is a fair assessment.

    • @souravkarmakar7041
      @souravkarmakar7041 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many of the climbers were interviewed by Krakauer before he wrote Into Thin Air. I am not surprised that he was angry on the director. Bourkeev saved two members, yes he did, but many of his actions on the mountain cannot be justified. In his book 'The Climb' he twisted many facts to prove himself not guilty. It was criticized back then , by Krakauer and other members of the expeditions.

    • @KidPersepolis
      @KidPersepolis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@souravkarmakar7041 of course it was criticized by Krakauer. Because he contradicts what Jon K. says in 'Into Thin Air'. That doesn't mean Boukreev's account is any less valid.

    • @souravkarmakar7041
      @souravkarmakar7041 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KidPersepolis Jon Krakauer admitted that he failed to save two members of the team- Yasuka Namba and Andy Harris. He admitted it and regretted it. But Bourkeev's account changed from time to time. When a man clearly admits in his book that he failed to save two lives even though he had chance and the other person shuns all accountability with time, I think that makes the former person more credible.
