Okay so quick back story for you, from Phil himself: The Valley ( their last album*) is a true story of Phil's childhood. he lost his dad at age (10 i believe*) and then his mum had a very toxic guy come into there lives. the man got his mum deep into drugs. she was already suffering big time with multiple personalities. and The Valley is the story of what happened/How he felt/Stories from his mums journals. She died from a drugs OD when he was 15 too. Its a VERY hard, brutal and heart breaking to listen to but i highly recommend it man. and the new album KIN is a continuation of The Valley BUT is the final chapter in his childhood story. Phil said that on his Twitch. Hope that helps. Take care duders.

Been listening to Whitechapel since This is Exile and watching this band evolve is amazing.

If you’re new stay clear of the somatic defilement album it’s their debut and nothing like what they do now they used to be straight MySpace era deathcore. I like everything they’ve done but it’s not for everyone
Definitely recommend checking all their stuff out, they've always been great but continually got better. Metal Blade made a playlist for them of full album uploads of their whole discography so that should make it easy to follow.
With each intro, Nath is slowly morphing into Johnny. Pretty soon they will merge and the puns will be aus-some.
I love Phil’s lyrics in the last 2 albums, and Kin is going to be amazing. I feel like everything he says Is completely justified because of what he has gone through. Most deathcore bands just blah blah whatever is heavy, which is cool too.

I got a lot of Fit for an Autopsy vibe from this one. Both in the instrumentation and Phil's more recent vocal style. And that's not a bad thing at all, IMO Whitechapel and FFAA are leading the more progressive deathcore scene by a country mile right now.
