- I made a video about why I decided to stop taking my hormonal birth control [the pill] (LINKED BELOW) and I have gotten a lot of questions and feedback from it.
I realize that it can't all be squished into one video, so here begins a "Coming Off of Hormonal Birth Control" series where I will answer all of your questions and concerns!

This is awesome! Women need to be informed about how damaging hormonal birth control is. You have such an amazing platform to share this with women. The majority are so ignorant of this issue but I wouldn't recommend birth control to any woman , for so many reasons but one of them being it does increase depression massively and because most girls go on it young, they are not even aware this isn't their true self
Hi!
I've been on birth control since i was 15 (i'll be 21 soon) and its honestly been so long that i cant really remember how i was when i wasnt on HBC. but i have been very unmotivated, depressed, anxious and exhausted aaaall of the time. I've gotten lots of tests done to see what may be causing it but nothing has concerned my doctors. I just recently heard about FAM so i've been reading a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility so that once i finish this cycle of pills I can just stop and know how to maintain proper birth control. After learning about the affects i'm reallyyyyy hoping that my moods are a factor of the hormones and not how i naturally am.
Hearing that you have transformed back to being happy gives me so much excitement to get off the pill. I honestly can not take being this sad and unmotivated all the time.
Love your videos by the way!! So nice to have someone talk about valuable life topics😊
Jada
+Jada Bee I really struggled with anxiety and nothing seemed to help. I read "sweetening the pill" and "taking charge of your fertility" and decided to see if discontinuing HBC would help. I could tell a difference almost instantly! Although, I wasn't 100% better instantly. It takes time for your body to get rid of all that stored hormone. But every month I have continued to get better. I am off of my depression/anxiety meds now. I plan to use the FAM method to prevent pregnancy. I will never use HBC again. My mental well-being is too important to sacrifice!
+Sarah McClafferty thank you!! I'm glad to hear that its going so well! I only have a week of pills left but i'm so excited to see a change!
Jada Bee I’m in the same position as you! I literally feel like I could have wrote what you did. I’ve been on HBC pills since I was 14-15 because I wanted to know exactly when my period would start so I could be prepared. I’ll be 21 in May. I just stopped taking the pill (on my period now), and will not be going back on HBC. I’m really looking forward to the changes in my body from not having all of these fake hormones in it anymore. Also, I am looking into purchasing the Daysy (currently saving up for it) and using FAM as my birth control. Good luck to you in your journey!
Omg I’ve been on the pills since I was 14 and now I’m 20! I’m so happy that I’m not the only one who’s been on the pill for years. I have been in the same moods as you. I just thought it was normal until I really looked into what could be the causes. But I’m off the pill now. I can’t wait to get my body back to normal, even though I don’t really remember what normal feels like!
Hi Brie513, that's exactly what I plan on doing right now. How have your experiences with the daysy been so far? I would love to hear about it. Thanks so much :)
When I went off the pill, I felt so much more energized, lighter on my feet and just happier. The only downside I experienced was hair loss. Fortunately, I talked to my doctor and she prescribed me pre-natal vitamins. It's been about two months now and my hair is already growing back. I highly recommend taking a pre-natal supplement just in case. Either way though, It's amazing going off the pill because you feel so much more vibrant and healthy. Even though I don't want a baby now, it's nice to know that I can have one anytime (which is part of being a woman in my opinion). Thanks for your videos and keep up the good work! I'm so glad your making a youtube channel about this topic. :)
Annie G omg thanks for this i recently stopped Birth C and my hair loss is extreme
Annie G hi what are pre-natal tablets
vitamins women take before/during pregnancy to ensure the body and their baby is getting the right nutrients they need, also helps to avoid birth defects.
😊
I HATED being on the pill. I hated that the doctor said it was the safest and best method to prevent pregnancy. Coming off of the pill was awful. I had the worst mood swings, and migraines. I was on the pill for at least 2 years. But now that Ive been off the pill for a year, I am able to fully track my period and ovulation to the exact day. Its such an empowering feeling! We have been using condoms, and I am so glad that im not putting any artificial hormones in my body anymore. Awesome video! More girls need to watch this!
I want do the same, but im afraid because condoms isnt enough, what do u think isnt a lot of risk only with condoms?
No. Its been over 2 years and I haven't looked back. There's a 99% chance of preventing pregnancy. Just be sure to use them properly, don't forget, or get lazy. Also check out the copper IUD! No hormones. Ive heard good things about it too.
cuteprincess441 ok thank u for the advise, now we are Just with condoms and it works very well
cuteprincess441 what should I do about the withdrawal bleeding and how long will I bleed because I'm going through this now
cuteprincess441 does your period come on right away ??
I was on birth control for 6 months and it scared me because my periods became almost non excitant. I'm stopping it because although periods are annoying, I'd rather have them and know my body is healthy then take them and never know if my body is really working like it's supposed to. It also made me depressed and anxious all the time.
kelly shultz so how did it go?
How was it after coming off?
Really appreciate this video! Considering getting off hormonal birth control for a long time now and really looking into taking care of my body
The pill probably messed up my digestion/stomach forever and gave me anxiety and depression (I had other symptoms which faded after 2 months). I'm miserable. Don't take the pill.
amanda2241996 so me rn 😢
Hi, I'm so inspired by all your videos. I'm exploring using the daysy and menstrual cups now! I've been on the pill (on and off) since I was 17- now 21. Ive been on 3 different brands and strength pills. Have gone from 30mg to 15mg. I've always felt uncomfortable about using synthetic forms of birth control but I felt like i had no other options. The best of a bad bunch I guess ! I've had so many side effects on the pill(s)- super low libido, weight gain, no mental clarity, being irrational and crying/getting angry at almost everything/one. Please keep making videos! It's so great to see someone young(not "family planning!)and non judgmental sharing their experiences and sharing knowledge. Thank you ! 👏🏻
Hi Isabella. Would love to hear how it is going for you? I am transitioning to menstrual cups and have looked into getting a daysy. It would be very helpful to me if you could share a bit of your experience please. Thanks very much!
I really want to get off but I don't want to get pregnant for sure.
Alexis Ellington I feel ya.
Just stop feel as a woman!
same here, on the pill
After 3 years on birthcontrol I got my IUD taken out yesterday! & I ordered my Daysy
Synthetic hormones mess up harmony in your body. When I started taking pill I immediately cystitis which was caused by
decreased immunity. Every month for over a year- this was a nightmare!
Did it go after you stopped x
I’m planning on taking a break from the pill soon, because they made my breasts so big, and i want to switch to an less hormonal pill after the 2 month break. I will update. 👍
I have struggled for 3 years since I started taking birth control, I feel like my body has been rejecting it ever since, I am seriously considering stopping it but I am nervous about getting pregnant.
thank you so much for these videos
Omg thank you for sharing your story💗Glad I’m not the only one who wants to go off it.
I’ve had the implanon implant for the last 3 years and I’m due to have it out next week. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever had, I constantly have had my period for the last 3 years, 6 weeks on my period with breaks of only 2-3 weeks in between. Its horrible and I’m so glad I’ve found your videos about non hormonal methods!
i just found your channel, and after a year of thinking i decided to get off of the pill and now im just kind of scared of what can happen im in a 3 year relationship and im buying books about healthy period now and im going to the doctors in 4 more days to a doctor that is against pills so i hope he can help me! and also not getting my period while having sex just because my hormones are balancing is going to be so scary! and side effects aswell! i took the pill for 3 years in a row and i hope i can manage side effects because when i started with the pill, i had the worst side effects, make more videos please! love the way you explain things :)
Angela Cummins how are you now after stopping the pill? thanks :)
Thanks for making this video! It really makes me feel better on my decision to go off my pill. I've had painful, moody, tiring cycles for 3 years before I went on the pill, and in a way, the pill saved me. After some trial and error with it I really started to feel better. I was attending more at school, I was focused and happy. But then, for the past few months I've just been getting worse. Feeling depressed, out of balance, feeling like now not only are my hormones fake, but the moods I feel (happy, sad, angry..) are also fake and not genuine. I also gave up on my healthy life style I used to have, just because now that my cycle pains went away I feel what I eat has no effect on me (which of course isn't the case). I've also been getting a lot more anxiety these past few months like never before. So finally, after a while of thought and a year of the pill I'm getting off it. My question is, do you think my symptoms are linked directly to the pill or are they more random than anything?
+Naomi S They're definitely not random. Or at least that's what I experienced. I went through something similar. I feel so much more connected and better off now. I still get sad sometimes, but it's real, and in that sense it feels good. Once you feel connected to your body and what's happening within it that sense of ownership returns and you want to go back to that healthy lifestyle. I would also recommend "The Pill: Are You Sure It's For You?" it's a great book that talks about all of the side effects that no one tells you about. Best of luck Naomi!
@FemmeHead Thank you so much:) This is so helpful and I've been sitting here watching a few of your videos now and they're great as well! honestly, as a 17 year old finding your channel is like a goldmine!
PS- would you consider doing a video on bras?
Hi I just had to ask did u experience hair loss? After stopping the pill....loved this video
Carmel Naidoo I have!!!! I thought it was just me.
@@hayleygnomefit3477 I didn’t realize this was a side effect! I’ve noticed that too
Hi Gorgeous Femme Head,
Thank you for talking about this! I had an Mirena IUD for 7 years - 20-27. Will you please let me know what you're eating or what you ate to balance your body? I went through severe depression and lost 20 lbs because I didn't want to eat. I am trying to eat healthier - Whole Foods, less sugar, and eat more fruits and vegetables. I eat meat on occasion, but I am scaling back on meat. I eat yogurt, kefir, and a little cheese. It's hard for me to know what I need to eat to get my body to balance. I am taking a thyroid medication because I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism while I had my IUD. Thank you for mentioning it may take up to a year to have my cycle return. I haven't seen it yet, but I will remain hopeful and do my best to eat healthy. Your skin is gorgeous and I am trying to clean up my lifestyle to have gorgeous skin and return to the happy, fun, bubbly person I used to be. I had no idea my IUD was contributing to weight gain, fatigue, sadness, moodiness - extreme, anxiety, depression, etc. I will embrace my cycle fully. Will you recommend a book I should read about women's hormones, bodies, and nutrition?
I cannot thank you enough for talking about this! I have been on the pill for almost SEVEN years (16y - 23y) without having a clue that it was bad for me. However, unconsciously I always felt more disconnected to my body. Your videos, among other articles, have convinced me to quit, but I want to do it responsibly. Does anyone have any recommendations on vitamins, supplements or food (I already eat mostly vegetarian) I can look into to support my body in this process or to get rid of the hormones in my body faster?
I'm wondering if you guys were on a low dose. I have never been on the pill and scared to start. Too many side effects
I was on the depo shot for a year, it was absolute hell for me. My body was a mess and my period was SO out of wack. I’m now on the pill and same thing my body just isn’t agreeing. I’ve been thinking about just completely stopping BC all together and just use “back ups” (condoms) and hope for the best. I’m absolutely terrified to get pregnant but I’m glad I found your videos for some peace of mind 💖💖
I’m on the hormonal birth control shot. Has anyone lost the weight they gained when stopping? When I started I was 109 and now I’m 120 😢
Thanks for making these videos. I've been on various forms of birth control since I was 14 years old. I'm 24 now (10 years AH!) and I'm really scared to come off of it. I didn't get my period for the first time ever (thinning of uterine lining apparently?) and it freaked me out. I also haven't had ANY sex drive whatsoever in a few years, and it really affects my relationship. Recently, Nuvaring (my current BC) updated their side effects list to include low sex drive, so now I know I'm not crazy! I don't want to get pregnant just yet, but I also would like to know what normal life is like!
I’m so glad I stopped taking the hormonal birth control pill. I was taking sronyx. I only took it for 3 days and it raised my blood pressure extremely high. I don’t take any meds to conflict with this birth control. It’s crazy because doctors push us to take birth control but don’t realize all the crazy side effects that come along with it. The good thing is as women we know our body. And we know when something is wrong.
I used to have regular periods before i started taking the pill, i used to "feel" when i was ovulating etc etc. It made me feel real, idk how to explain. Now my sex drive sucks and i feel fake which is why i want to go off the pill, also my mom had breast cancer and even my doctor said that if i have the gene that causes breast cancer i may consider going off the pill.
I have hormonal acne and the pill helped to calm it but I still have spots on my face all the time, I'm just worried it will be like it used to be, I hope my face doesn't get too sore if I come off. Also I used to faint and get horrible cramps in my stomach and leg so I'm scared they will come back.I started the pill age 16 and now I'm 20
Hey there I just started taking the pills for one month now and everyone keeps telling me how i changed. I was an energetic happy person and after the pill i felt tired all the time and i can start crying over anything.. After watching your videos I decided to stop them.. Do I have to finish my whole pack or can I stop taking them whenever? Also when did you start getting your energy back? :) Thank you very much for the videos xx
I was on hormonal birth control from 16 to 26 years old. I then decided to quit for almost a year, I felt great and wonderful! But I also stopped smoking weed at around that time and I wasn’t sure what was the actual cause of my happy mood. I started smoking weed again two months ago and started taking pills again one month ago because I started dating this guy. Now I’m not feeling my best again. Idk what should I do ... any advice? Btw, I’m almost 27 (my birthday is in March).
Just recently I have started having clots during my cycles. This is my third birth control to take. I want to come off but am worried about coming off cold turkey. I remember having severe cramps before starting birth control, but I've been on it for over 10yrs. I need to start the process. Just worried about the cramping that will proceed.
Same here, I desperately wanna come off the pill now, just makes me feel like crap, I'm 30 now and went on it at about 18 due to the awful cramps I used to get, I'd literally be in bed in agony for like 3 days a month, terrified that will come back 😭
I've been on the pill for a little over a month now. I started taking them because my flow was just AWFUL!! They would come every 28 days though, so I was always prepared. But I've gained almost 10 lbs already. I'm an active person (weight lifting & yoga), as well as a vegetarian. So I'm extremely confused and disappointed with the pill :/ Although this past "Birth-control cycle" was heavenly, these symptoms and weight gain just don't seem worth it to me :/ I don't know if I should finish the pack or just stop right now.
Samantha Lopez the same with me. I have been working out everyday and although I have built muscle, my bloated belly won't allow it to be shown. Honestly it's not worth it. It's dumb cuz doctors know what side effects the pill has so why not try to fix it. Plus why do is women have to suffer just so we don't get pregnant? Can't we take the pill and have nothing to worry about at the same time too? I guess not.
I feel you. :/ I felt a lot bigger when i started the pill. But not too big, just bigger breasts and maybe a little belly fat?
I took the Pill for 4 years and I’m 16 kg heavier.... it is miserable
Hi there, I found your channel from listening to Lavendaire! Have you discussed the arm implant BC before? I’ve been on that for 5 years and omg it’s okay but when you said in another video about risk of gingivitis relating to BC I nearly flipped. I have never been one to have cavities but these past few years have been nothing but and at 23 I had to get a crown! I’m 25 almost 26 now and married. I don’t want kids yet but I also have noticed weight gain since starting BC 8/9 years ago. Like I gained 80lbs the first year I took the pill. I never fully considered not being on BC because I don’t really like barrier methods personally (and am allergic to latex) but from your videos I’m going to look into natural family planning ❤️ thank you for your blunt honest videos
I'm 21 now, I started taking pill at age of 17. I tried to go off pills but the biggest issue is that my horroble acne and oily skin came back, so I started taking back pills. I don't want to take them, but it's such a huge issue with skin and I was at dermatologist so many times through the years and nothing was helping. I feel bit deppressed and less self confident on pills. So it's like the war inside me to take them or not. :
I'm feeling the same! Started taking the pill when I was 16 and I remember having acne and oily skin and I've decided to finally stop so today was the first day not taking it and I'm more nervous about the side effects than excited about stopping it at the moment
+Joanne Piggott i stopped for 6 months but started taking it back becouse my skin started be so bad again :( and I tried many things... I hope you will be fine! fingers crossed!
I stopped taking the pill because it made me mad and depressed , I didn't miss any of my periods since I've been off it thanks for the video now I know more about the pill and what it can do to your body
kelsey blake did you experience any acne after coming off the pill ?
I’m 22 been on the pill sense I was about 13 or 14. I’ve been with my partner 7 years so I’m not looking to use birth control anymore, we’re not getting any younger. But I’m nervous of how I’ll be coming off it being it’s hormonal. And it helps regulate my period. So I’m hoping I’ll be able to just get off it and feel well and maybe get healthier in my head cause my anxiety has been a big lately, I am also nervous about messing up my cycle...
How did it work out?
I been on Portia the pill for about 10 months now and it was great to me at first with the predictable cycles and light periods. I was put on it due to heavy bleeding after going off the depo injection after 5 years which made me bleed for 8 months!! which was also really great to me, besides the weight gain that occurred over 2 years , but I started getting severe migraines 6 months into the Portia pill and I been taking pain killers (ibuprofen) because my nurse keeps telling me they will subside soon so I’m trying to tough it out, but I can’t keep doing this it’s very scary plus I have never been prone to headaches or migraines so I’m hoping it stops once I stop the pills .I been on birth control since a junior in high school I’m ready to get off and be responsible and use condoms because this isn’t worth it
I’m going to be starting FAM as soon as I take my IUD out. Should I wait to get a period to begin charting? Or is it wise to still take my temp and record cervical fluid so I can await ovulating and a period?
how long does it take for your hormones to return back to normal? i've just decided to stop taking the pill.
Not doing the pll. My doc gave me lo loestrin and i'm scared to get it. Lost 15 lbs and afraid of getting fat. Using a diaphram/ sponge for now with natural contraceptive gel.
Thanks for this series of videos. Did you experience any hair loss when you came off of the pill (immediately or months after)? I stopped taking the pill after being on it for 4 years a month and a half ago. I feel great but I am worried that hair loss might come around month 3 (I have read that while researching online). I just wanted to know if you have experienced that or know anything about how common it is or how long it may last. I already have had quite a bit of hair thinning due to the pill and would really not want to lose anymore.
I’m glad this video is here. I’ve been on the Lillow Pill for 11 months. It’s given me depressive thoughts, headaches every day, and just an overall groggy feeling. I’m glad to be quitting it.
Are you sure you didn't mess someting up? On the liflets of combined pills is written that it's recommended to go off the pill with the end of the package. In the case of minipills iit is written that you can do this whenever you want.
I juat quit BC a few weeks ago...after yrs...it is a little confusing because I'm always questioning now if I'm pregnant bcos I don't really trust other methods.I noticed I have a bit of a belly now and idk if I'm swollen bcos I will be getting my period again soon or am I pregnant...
Has the bloating/swelling gone down?
This was very useful! Did you experience a lot of side effects as you were coming off? And if so, how long did they last? I came off three weeks ago and I finally got rid of horrible migranes, but I am wondering how long you felt sad? Cause I am kind of in that rut right now :(
Also, Merry christmas!
+Joffelicious Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! But I promise it gets better. I would say that it probably took a year for me to work through the rollercoaster of blues that comes with hormonal birth control. This may sound like a long time, but it's different for everyone and it gets better and better as more time passes. Good luck love!!
Currently going through what you went through.😥 Did it get better and how long did it take?
Love your channel. You are so genuine and beautiful and it's so humbling to see a Vlogger actually using their platform to do something as beautiful as this is great! Really inspired by you girl! I'm also a Vlogger so it would be great to stay connected . Much love from England, Amy-Letitia
My question is, my husband and I are ready to start trying for a baby. I stopped my birthday control 3 months ago.. and still haven't had a period. (Taken multiple tests and I'm not pregnant) I took the pill for 8 years and this is the first time in those 8 years that I haven't taken the pill. Any tips on how to get my cycle to begin??
+ItsKelsiesLife I know women who have taken 8 - 12 months to get their periods again, and even longer for them to become regular. You have to give your body time to get rid of all those fake hormones and rebalance itself again. Have you started charting your cycle? You should look into "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".
Please answer this question for me!! Ive been watching your videos for some time and after 4 painfully long years I decided to get my iud removed. It's been out for a month, but how long do you think it will take for my body to detox? Ive been eating healthy even craving healthy foods, and going through the motions...but when will I feel energetic and happy ans normal again? I'm 25, and everything else is healthy thank God. Please give me a light on the horizon to look forward to. Much love.
It differs person to person. My cycle returned to normal pretty quickly, but I have friends who took 8 months to get their first period. Just be patient and continue taking care of your body. You could look into a book like Period Repair Manual if you're interested.
I 've had a 'contraceptive coil' for over a year now and it's one of the best things i've done for myself
hey! really appreciate your video and would love some advice! I was on the pill from november 2014 to august 2015. I got my period for a few days near the end of January and haven't got it again since, although i have never had regular periods. I am curious as to whether you have heard of people gaining weight going off the pill because i experienced that very quickly after going off the pill and whether you have any advice about it? thanks x
Thanks for the vid! I have been thinking of stopping the pills. I was on Lomedia for 2 months and it gave me terrible side effects which were debilitating so my Dr switched me to Lo Loestrine. I'm just two weeks in, but the side effects though are not as bad, are still debilitating and I'm not sure if it's worth waiting it out(3 months). How long were you taking the pill and did you know anyone who's side effects went away after some time?
I'm thinking about getting off birth control, but I'm afraid that my skin will be as bad as it was before I was on it. I do not have any idea what my body will be like. I have been on birth control for almost 10 years! So maybe my skin won't be as awful ? 😔 i myself am angry and moody for no reason on birth control so I'm hoping I will be more content emotionally. My period was awful prior as well, but it didn't totally improve or regulate on birth control anyway. My biggest fear is my skin and my weight as well as a hormonal swing lol I hope I will be happy and not a blemished emotional wreck. Lol 😝
Anotherone360 my problem exactly! What decision did you make in the end ?
You don’t get a period on birth control lol. It’s your body’s reaction to the drop in hormones (you never ovulate therefore it isn’t a period)
I’m taking a break from the pill like just to see if me body is better off the pill or on the pill.
Did you end up getting off BC pills? I've been on them almost 8 years and am researching into getting off it but I'm curious what others experiences were like.
What about bloating. Will I continue on bloating or will it go away.
Did anyone experience white lotion like discharge?? Like I don’t have any itching or burning so I know it’s not a yeast infection.. idk 😐 did any of you lady’s have this!
I'm on Loloestrin, for about six months now. I have only gotten my period once on the actual birth control. Never spotted or anything else after the first month. Did you ever experience this or has anyone? Also feel like I'm losing my sex drive and it's a horrible feeling on top of mood swings. Dont want to worry about getting pregnant but I'm so scared to also go off of it because I don't want to be depressed either.
Gina ScottiD'Antuono I just came off of loloestrin. I was on it for a year and never had a cycle, very low libido, and severe anxiety. good luck with it!
Skye Guy I've actually been off of it for two months now and I'm so much happier. I'm now on Trinessa and its so much better for me personally. I have a regular cycle again and my mood is way more stable. Thank you so much for replying! Have a wonderful day ❤️
Im in the exact same boat with loloestrin, and I had been taking it for 5 months and had stopped the pill recently. I had very heavy breakthrough bleeding the first month, and then no periods at all, not even a little spotting. My sex drive was low, and I felt pretty depressed but otherwise normal. Coming off it, I feel my body trying to regulate hormones (been experiencing hair loss and nausea) but, hopefully, it will get better. It might be too soon to tell.
How do I know if my gf isn't bipolar and just saying it's hormonal imbalance?
Which pill were you on, the combine pill or the progesterone only pill?
I stop taking pill after one week becuz i felt extreme weakness, dizzy,n sleepy. Will it be harmful
Hey +FemmeHead ! I just wanted to know. When you got off the pill, did your awful period cramps come back? And did your period last for 9 days like it used to when you were a teen? I'm considering taking the pill because my cramps are unbearable and I've had several health problems during my period because of the pain... How do you cope with them ? Thanks xx
Masha Ferret hmmm I think you should consider other birth control options like a non hormonal birth control. There is such thing as a copper IUD but idk if it will make your periods lighter like the hormonal ones.
Megan Ruhnke Copper IUDs often makes periods heavier & cramps more painful!
Hey, Im Lauren and im 20 years old I was on nexplanon for the last 2 1/2 years. I recently switch to the IUD because nexplanon was causing tremendously bad mood swings. Now that Ive been on the IUD i developed a cyst on myright ovary that ruptured a couples days ago it caused me to have been in alot of pain. The thing about birth control is I hate having something in me that can do things to my body like that without my control. Plus our bodies naturally are supposed to have periods, ovulate, carry children. All the things birth control are blocking. My question to you is should i just completely stop birth control?
no one can make that decision, ultimately, except you. i would do research on many, many different options and go with your gut on what YOU think will be best for your body. trust yourself!
I am new to this but I started my birth control wrong meaning I didn't take it the Sunday after my period started. I have been having protected sex but Suddenly I didn't come on my period. 6 days of my period being late I began to bleed. I have been bleeding for 9 days straight now. I abruptly stopped taking pills 2 days ago. I just wanna know since I stopped taking the pills without finishing the pack what's gonna happen? Am I gonna bleed worse?
Aggression on hormone birth control and extreme pain in my legs. I went off hormone birth control in Oct. It has taken a month for my legs to start not hurting and my aggression to relax. I started mine at the age of 31 right after I had my son. is there anything I need to look into?
I was in Dianette for almost a year (11/12 months) and I came off due to hearing about the increases of blood clots and cancers. When you come off do these decrease and you go back to how you was before even taking Dianette? It's really freaking me out
i was on the pill for about a year and a half and have been with the implant for about 4-5 years now. i've been consistently depressed for about 6 months now and have experienced severe mood swings over the years. i've gone months being on my period and have had extremely low energy levels. i've scheduled an appointmet to switch to the paragard. hopefully that helps :/
With the acne, I found that before and after my period I have some acne out breaks even though I eat right. Is that normal? Thanks!
Was using NuvaRing for 8 months & took it out 3 days ago. So far I've been a crazy b*tch :/ prior to using it I had very painful, heavy, short periods with crazy-b*tchy/crying a lot PMS (kinda how I've been since stopping). The Ring made me feel sort of zombie-like ... Guess that's BC it 'evened' me out per say. But, I miss feeling as happy as I used to be (just verrrry emotional a few days prior to my period)
Hello there. Well, for some months now I've been thinking about getting off the birth control pill but for some reason I never quit, as if I'm scared because, er...it's been working pretty well as a contraceptive method but I want to know how I feel without it. I talked with a nurse at the health centre and she advised to try a different pill, which is not combined, it's still has a low hormonal dosage but this one is different from the one I'm taking now because I don't stop taking it, meaning I won't get my period. This is really confusing to me. Plus, there's also the vaginal ring. So basically I don't know what decision to make -.-
I want to stop taking the pill it's the combined pill we're I take it for 21 days and have a 7 day break, Iv finished my pack and currently having my withdrawal bleeding how long until I get my normal period ?
I came off the pill some time ago and I started about a year ago having brown spotting which gradually over the year incresed in how many days I had this for each month. In January I was having brown spotting for 2 weeks of thr month and my period for one week but my period in january went super heavy (i was filling a largr lunette in 40 minutes). I went to the doctors and tjey tested for all sorts of things and decided it was a hormone inbalance and told me that I needed to go on thr pill. I started taking it again thinking I had no choice but it makes me feel depressed and I am still having thr 2 weeks brown spotting but ligher "periods". I have fone research and see that thr pill is not my only option and want to try and resolve this naturally. Do you have any recommendations on what I can do and take to help sort out my hormone inbalance? I took the last pill of the packet yesterday and dont intent to start the next pack. Thanks in advance
A few books, "WomanCode" and "The Period Repair Manual". There are natural solutions out there. Start with your diet, and look into supplements and lifestyle changes. I had a lot of brown spotting in my luteal phase during the first few months of this year, and I've mostly cleared that up using diet and the supplement Vitex. Keep doing your research!
FemmeHead thankyou. I have downloaded the period repair manual to try. I love your videos and your way of thinking. Keep up the good work
Hello I am also having brown spotting and really confused if I am pregnant or is it effect of getting off the pill I really dont know
I just found your channel and I LOVE it. :) you are gorgeous and inspiring! what do you do for your great looking skin? :) hugs form Switzerland!
Hi, I hope you respond quickly. I want to get off birth control, hormonal ones; I've been on it for a year now. And I am worried about something that I read where it says that if you stop you can get fibroids? I wanted to know if you know anything about that or if you had that before.
I decided to take my ring out because I couldn't figure out why I have been so irritable, depressed and physically sick. I eat healthy and exercise regularly. My weight is normal. I had unprotected sex a week ago, I have been vomiting everyday since, I am only on day 16 through my cycle but I have to take this ring out, is there a chance of getting pregnant? I don't plan on having sex for awhile(my boyfriend and I decided to go our separate ways).
Any other way without messing up hormones to prevent birth?
No, you should NOT get out of the pill at any point that is wrong and you should go to the gynecologist to ask about it.
Hii, first of all I recently discovered your channel and I love all the info u have regarding birth control. I just started on birth control myself bout a month ago, I have that rod-thingy in my arm that's gunna last three years. So even tho I've experienced my period coming 9 days too late and now been lasting for 8 days.. (Yeyy), I still wanna be on it because it keeps me from getting pregnant even tho I've had some roller coaster days. Bottom line, what would you recommend me to do to stay as "sane" and "normal" as possible while on this hormone? Any foods/pills I should consider taking? Tnxx
+Eira Rønneberg Thank you! Happy to hear that the rod [Implanon] is working out for you. I'm going to make a video about the nutritional side of the menstrual cycle. And because you are on a hormone based birth control I encourage you to look into putting plenty of healthy foods into your body as well as looking at supplements since your body can't absorb nutrients as well on hormonal birth control. [this will all be in that video :) ] And for making sure you stay "sane" I encourage you to journal if you don't already. Then take time every month or few months to go back and read what you wrote. Looking back on my old journal entries when I was on the pill I can see that I wasn't doing good mentally or emotionally. Stay tuned love :)
+FemmeHead Thank you soo much for answer. I'm for sure going to start writing again, I know that's been good for me in the past especially looking back at. I'm already a vegan so hopefully that does not mess with my absorption of nutrients. Yeah I'm still on my period so if this continues I'm probably going to rip out the rod myself. Anyways thank you so much for advice xx
I tried FAM last year for about 6 months then decided the pill was the best option for my life (then). Now I'm ready to leave the pill again for my reasons. My question is how do you deal with a GYN that doesn't really respect your FAM choice? I feel like my doctor didn't understand it or care to, so she just ignored it.
That's a shame. I think a lot of doctors don't understand FAM because they were never properly taught about it. If you're able to find another doctor that is more in line with what you want you could do that, or maybe your current doctor just needs the encouragement to go educate themselves on the topic.
I like to think that I'm very in touch with my body.. and I've been taking the pill for about a year and a half. At first I did notice some emotional changes but they went eventually went away :) I'm in a sexual relationship and although I know there are other forms of birth control I find the pill the easiest/ most convenient. (My partner is very supportive in any decision I make). If I'm not noticing any side effects from the pill should I try and get off of it anyways? Thanks
I came off the pill around 3 months ago (in a serious relationship😩) after being on it from the age of around 12 for acne, and 6 years later my acne is coming back, is this from my hormones being out of whack from the pill or the underlying problems. How do I cure my acne 😭
+Emily Pitta Quick answer is: the pill didn't cure your acne, it was merely a bandaid. So naturally, when you ripped off the bandaid the wound was still there. I'm editing the next video in this series which talks about acne. It should be up Thursday. Let me know what you think after that video :)
Emily Pitta Hi! how are your skin now after coming off the pill? thanks
I know this was 2 years ago but I’m on birth control and I’m worried about acne I didn’t have much before I went on the pill now I have a decent amount with the pill how did everything with your acne work out ?
my doctor gave me birth control pills for only 2 months to get me to get my period regluar again I haven't had it for 3 ,months I'm not pregnant and I'm only 21. so I'm hoping it works has anyone else had this experience?
The pill doesnt regulate your period. It actually over ride your hormones with artificial one.You should seek naturapath for this and not family dr, pretty stupid they prescribe to regulate your period
How long have you've been doing the FAM?! I'm in the phase of wanting to be educated and learning more about my body.😊
Three years now :)
+FemmeHead Did you wear condoms or abstained while learning the method?I suffer from OCD so the paranoia is a must for me.I think about the birthcontrol methods, but at the same time don't wanna put my body at risk.I really like the idea but I'm just too scared of a condom breaking. Please ease my mind with your success.I don't know what to do.
Does birth control really help balance hormones? I haven't had my period and I'm wondering if getting on the pill will regulate my period?
Did you experience any acne? If yes how did you manage it?
Does the fertility awareness method work well? I am thinking about trying it but am scared because I am in a serious relationship. I do not want to have kids at this point in life.
+Kayla Knorr I've used it successfully for 3 years now. Many of my friends have been successful with it for over 2 years and one of my mother's friends has been using it throughout her marriage which has been like 7 or 8 years. You have to completely understand it and follow all of the guidelines and rules. I tell everyone starting off to be extra cautious, use condoms and avoid your fertile window entirely. There are also a lot of great resources to learn it from.
Okay thank you so much that is very helpful!
Coming off hormonal birth control has messed up my hormones and my skin is crazy :( do you know anything to help balance hormones? I regret birth control. It made me fat, have headaches and moody! Now acne :(
+Missjamaica My skin has been a bit wonky since I got off birth control about 1 1/2 years ago. So I feel your pain. I've noticed that eating healthier foods can help reduce my acne. So I try to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible. However, this didn't help completely. I just went to the dermatologist last week and was put on some ointment, face wash and a pill for the acne. (This wasn't ideal...I was hoping I could do something more "natural" to help make the acne go away.) Guess what the dermatologist recommended for me to try? :) She wanted me to go on THE PILL, haha! I said no thank you! Acne is one of those frustrating things! Hope it gets better for you!
Missjamaiibaby Hi! :) how your skin now after coming off the pill? thanks :)
How long do you bleed once you stop taking the pill?
im thinking about starting FAM where can i find more about it and learn more about my body, i really dont want to get pregnat right now 😟
The book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is a great place to start. And I offer a course teaching newcomers how to chart their cycle if you want to check that out. femmehead.com/chart-your-cycle
Hi I just wanted to ask question
So, after my period I've had sex with my partner. And then i took the pills right the next day knowing that it can possibly prevent pregnancy, i took two tablets. Just that two tablets then stopped. After days there were spotting of blood it lasted 5 or 6 days i think. That was last month, July. Does it mean that i had period? Then now, i haven't had my period it was over a month. I'm scared to take pregrancy test. What could possibly wrong with me?
Did you get pregnant? Pls reply I am experiencing te same 🥺
What happen if I don’t take the white pills?????? “My first time on birth control”
Thankyou for your advise you rock:) from chrissy from Australia
first view, great videi

From my perspective, I don’t think birth control is a good idea, mainly because of women’s propensity to choose incompatible partners on birth control. That by far is the scariest side effect in my opinion. And honestly, it makes me question all of my relationships. That finding alone explains the high divorce rate (mainly initiated by women) and I think that’s enough for me to try not to date anyone on birth control. I don’t mean to sound hateful or anything, but I don’t want to date someone who might not be compatible to me. I think that’s incredibly sad and controlling your reproductive cycle doesn’t really seem to matter if you’re with the wrong person... but that’s just me. I’m scared to date because of how stacked the odds are against me (and men in general)
@Nickie thank you. Yeah, that's a scary thought. It's pretty dangerous. And it's just another thing to put on the list of why it's a bad idea to pair up with women, today
omg you are so cute!!
you remind me of Marne on girls lol

You are really thin. What physical activities or sports do you do? What's your diet?
